I usually get the honey king prawns with white rice. This is around $17 per plate. Drinks are about $3 so a meal here would cost you an average of $20 per person. I have also had the laksa and the stir fried noodles. It is a great place to come with mates to catch up. This place is also great for vegetarians as with the meals, you can choose what type of meat you want or if you just want vegetables. Prawns is usually more expensive at $17 per plate, i think chicken / beef and pork is about $15 per plate. I would recommend this place to catch up with friends. I have never had take away from here so I can't really comment.

For the tiny bowl of boiled rice and small of plate of fried rice we received for $10.50 I didn't see our value for money. And as for the food? It was quite ordinary, a bit bland in some dishes (the garlic chicken dish and ham and chicken rolls), and our crispy skin chicken was dry - so again not seeing the value there either. Maybe we ordered the wrong dishes? Maybe they were having an off day? Whatever it was, first impressions win again, the chances of me ever going there again are highly unlikely, on a scale from One to If I Have To.

We ordered sizzling beef, after serving a portion in a bowl, water started to pool and it became clear that this was possibly frozen beef or pre cooked meal reheated or in this case put on a sizzle pan. The honey chicken was okay, more dough batter than chicken. The chow mein was bland. For an authentic looking Chinese restaurant there wasn't any quality Chinese food being served, all dishes need a major revamp. It feels like after years of being opened, the chef/cook has lost their passion to cook and serving up below mediocre food. Let's be honest, from the overall experience, I won't be back.

Perhaps Chilli Jam should worry more about service and less about decoration. The menu is quite interesting, and differs greatly from other Thai restaurants I've visited in Concord. But while they may have more on offer, the quality is no different from the cheaper Thai restaurants on Majors Bay Rd. The food is decent, but seriously overpriced, and the noise level is often unbearable and annoying. The only thing that keeps me coming back to Chilli Jam is the spicy papaya salad. So I panicked and that last analogy suffered terribly, but my point is that now the Thai Noodle Hut has double in size (although it's still just a hole in the wall) and the decor has had an upgrade, but their commitment to the things that made them a Willoughby Rd institution haven't changed -- they're CHEAP, FRESH, and GENEROUS (none of which are words that can be used to describe my last girlfriend). Seriously, the helpings are gigantic, the ingredients are quality, and the prices! Good lord, the prices! It's almost unfair how cheap it is. The staff are friendly as all get out but they're no economists . . . their prices haven't changed since the 90's. In fact, I have no idea how they make money. I'm almost too scared to mention that we're meant to be in a recession in case they weren't aware of this and raise their prices accordingly.
