If I could give 10 stars, I would. My husband introduced me to Diamond Dave years ago, back when he was playing at Petar's. That was about 9 years ago and my friends and I would still talk about how great he is. When my now husband and I got engaged, we knew that Diamond Dave would be the perfect person to entertain for our wedding. We were sooo right! Diamond Dave was such a hit and everyone was shocked, impressed, and so in awe with him. Our wedding was only a few days ago and there are so many videos of Diamond Dave from our wedding guests...they're all captioned with comments like "he rocked my world last night" and "seeing him was life changing!" I'm in my early 30s, my husband is 40, we have nieces in their early 20s, and we had parents/aunts/uncles there. He was a hit for everyone! Typically, it takes a few songs to get the dancing going at a wedding but the second Dave started playing, the dance floor was full -- I promise I am not exaggerating. I should also note that we chose our wedding date around Dave's availability and I have to say that I don't have any regrets and it was so so worth it. I have seen Diamond like 6-7 times, maybe more. It's always amusing to see the crowd dancing to his covers. You do literally see 80 year old men grinding st mary's college students, while in the back you see Lafayette trust fund brats in their mid 30's who couldn't get it together and get plastered in the background. They have since changed his location to the main section of the resturaunt which is good, more room to move and dance. I am awaiting his cover of Poker Face by Lady Gaga. I deducted one star because I feel like he needs to change up his set more. Last time I felt like it was the same 10 songs from 2 years ago. Other than that he is one of the best performer's Ever. Okay... so right now it's the morning after my wedding and I felt the need to leave this review. I'm from out of town but my wife is from the east bay, so I'd been hearing stories about Dave for awhile. But when she said she wanted Dave to do the music for our wedding, I was a bit skeptical. But oh my god did Dave deliver. He was getting people on the dance floor with his singing before dinner was even over! And once the party really got going, there was no stopping him and I don't think I've ever danced harder in my life! Entertainment / MCing - In terms of just pure entertainment at a wedding, he seriously brings it. Your friends, especially those who have never heard of Dave before, will absolutely go nuts. But did you know: He has been known, years ago, to take home a few of his favorite Gaels after they had a few too many and the cabs were nowhere to be found. He opened for The Dan Band at The Independent, had to deal with faulty equipment, and still rocked the damn place. We frequent his shows at local bars as often as possible, and knew he was a "must have" for our wedding day. The absolute BEST dance party I have ever attended. 100 weddings later, countless bridesmaid dresses, catering blunders, etc.- I could write a book about wedding mistakes. That awkward moment where no one is dancing happens every single time. Nothing is worse than having the most expensive night of your life- experience the weirdness of tired guests, wrong songs, uncomfortable emcee jokes, etc. Not the case with the legend. Diamond Dave kept everyone relaxed and laughing the entire night. You can't help but love his personality. He dances with you, brings the energy, fulfills all song requests yet somehow still please everyone (is it a superhero power?). His prince impersonation is flawless, until you hear him rap bust a move- and blurred lines? Finishing off with a powerful livin' on a prayer? The entire wedding of 125 people were break dancing and crowd surfing. Old/young. He was Cupid shuffling while singing and photo bombing the selfie stick. He truly is an artist. His photographic memory coupled with an amazing voice and personality is unlike any other. He enjoys celebrating with you and his intuitive way with the crowd is just- remarkable. I was a little skeptical when my now-husband suggested Dave for our wedding reception, based on his youtube videos and a personal recommendation from a friend of his. Dave seemed kind of cheesy, and I wasn't sure he was the right fit. Thankfully I'm happy to say I was wrong wrong wrong! I could not be happier with how it turned out. He was an absolute blast, and months later we are STILL hearing from guests about how much they loved him. He is goofy and cheesy at times, but only just the right amount to make it fun, and his singing skills are phenomenal. A lot of the time we would think he was playing a recording of a song, and then later realize he was the one singing it! He is a real crowd-pleaser, and plays/performs a great mix of classic and contemporary hits, as well as the old wedding stand-bys like the electric slide. The man has tons of energy, and a real knack for reading a room and knowing what kind of mood to set. He is professional, punctual, and VERY reasonably priced for the kind of show he puts on. He's especially perfect if you're the type who is not comfortable being the center of attention - I am like that, and having Dave around to take some of the attention was a huge relief for me. Where do I begin!? Well, to start, I am updating my previous 5 star review of Diamond Dave, to a new 5 star review :) I had seen Dave play at Petar's countless times over the years, and always wanted him to do my wedding. Well, I found the perfect man to marry, so of course I needed the perfect man to perform at our wedding...Diamond Dave! I had been dreaming of him doing my wedding since I first saw him, so right after my husband popped the question, we (in this order) told: 1) My parents 2) his mom 3) Diamond Dave. I think that pretty much says it all, but I'll go on... After getting his available dates, I started a spreadsheet before we searched for a venue. The spreadsheet went something like this: A) Diamond Dave availability B) Venue availability. If a venue we liked didn't match up with his availability, we didn't even consider it. We planned the wedding around him. That's how great he is. Luckily, a great venue that we loved matched up with his and we started the planning. He did a great job throughout the entire wedding of singing the hits and keeping the party going! He is very personable and interactive, and wears different hats and wigs for certain songs sometimes, which everyone loves! He is dedicated and reliable, and a true professional. He can sing anything really, really well, from Sinatra to Michael Jackson, to Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga. Oh and don't get me started on his Louis Armstrong...he sounds just like him! He is not your typical DJ, and elevates your event to the next level of awesome. P.S. Dave was so easy to work with. Whenever I emailed him, he got back to me immediately, which made wedding planning so much easier. I danced the entire night at my wedding, and I had family, friends and coworkers coming up to me all night to ask how I found Dave (Petar's), because they were amazed, and this was the most fun that they have ever had at a wedding. He gets the crowd engaged and appeals to people 15-80 years old....which you will find on the dance floor @ Petars when he performs. When I moved to Lafayette, everybody I ran into said you have to check out Diamond Dave. I finally saw him perform at Petar's and he was very entertaining. He sings lyrics & plays the keyboard to almost any song you request with his own Spin on it.
