R&B Framing was the only company which showed up to take a look at the steps. Two days later, Jose Cedillo emailed me an estimate and thoroughly answered my questions. His company uses Redwood or cedar wood for Victorian homes, though cedar does cost extra. We were surprised by how fast his crew finished the job. They showed up on April 9th, early in the morning and worked until the evening. They arrived the next day to finish the rest of the steps and the banisters. He also painted the banisters according to the original white creme color. If it's a legacy house, they'll stick to the originality of the Victorian architecture. (Per building code regulations, when a house is considered a legacy house the paint must be the original--or close to the original color--of when the house was first built.)
