Antonio clearly understood our needs, gave us confidence they could be accomplished (it's a tight space), and offered options that enhanced the project beyond our expectations. He is a no-nonsense professional and his crew worked tirelessly everyday. Shout out to Carlos and Jesus. The beautifully finished product makes us happy every time we look at it. I will say that we've worked with many contractors on many projects and a running theme seems to be a real need for PATIENCE, as frustrating as it can often be. Sometimes, circumstances beyond a contractor's control make scheduling expectations difficult to keep. In our case, materials were delayed from the distributor (testing Antonio's patience, too). As such, this project took a bit longer to get started than hoped. BUT, Antonio and the office staff were quick to respond to all inquiries, and the truth is - the project was actually accomplished as quickly as promised, once circumstances allowed. It's required shape is similar to a wedge, wider at the East end & narrower at the West end. Today without any notice this company called and a person named Antonio said he was in the area and wanted to come out and survey the patio overhang! He took me by surprise probably because I was up all night with my husband that has pneumonia and is on his last stages of Parkinson's and dementia so I said yes! I called him right back and said I called your company in November reporting a problem and without notice you're coming out 5 months later he started to say something about wanting to take pictures I said NO and hung up! But Antonio reached out to me and worked with us to ensure that Patio Designers get this job right and boy, did they ever! Antonio and his crew converted what was an empty space with a sorry looking firepit into something special! Understandably, there was issues with delays in delivery of materials and start of work due to the pandemic, but Antonio provided updates along the way and if I didn't hear from him, he quickly responded to text inquiries on status of the materials/job. My backyard was overdue for a patio and patio cover so I searched for a Patio cover company and Patio Designers came up at the top of my search list. I contacted the office and spoke to Grace whom sent out Antonio who helped me visualize how I could get the best use of my back yard with a patio and patio cover as an outdoor living area. (we wanted room for the kids to play in the shade, & room to have a big dinner at the same time; we also still wanted room to park our travel trailer in the back yard) We liked the design and use of the area and went with his bid. I decided to use these guys for the install of a patio cover at my house and I everything went great. Estimate: I spoke with one of their sales/designers, Matt, and scheduled a time to come out to my house to give me an estimate. Matt showed up on time and I walked him through what I was envisioning for my cover. I thought he was only going to get measurements and work up a quote but he also offered good input and recommendations on what he thought would work best. For example, he had some sample colors and described the different combinations available. He was very professional in his approach without talking down which is normal with a lot of vendors I have noticed. He took down my info, left a business card and by the next day I had a formal quote emailed to me. Pre-Install: We decided to go with Patio Designers for our cover and Matt worked closely with me on the scheduling of my install. I told him that I was on a time crunch and was planning on celebrating Mother's Day at my house and was hoping to have the cover installed by that time. Note that I mentioned this to him with a little over a week before Mother's Day. He called me Tuesday during that week and told me that they would be ready to go the next day at 8 am. We decided to move forward with that date. Install: The owner, Antonio, called me Wednesday morning to let me know that his workers would be arriving at 8 am and he would be on-site as well. They arrived on time and I met with Antonio because I wanted his guys to hide some speaker wires behind one of the panels. He spoke with my guys about my request and then they began work. I was a little skeptical that they would finish in one day because there were only 2 installers. I left them at home while I ran some errands/work and by the time I came back in the afternoon around 3 pm they were finishing up. They also cleaned up their work area. Antonio showed up as they were finishing up in order to inspect their work and answer any questions I might have. Post-Install: Days after the install I noticed that in the evening the sun still hit under some of the patio cover area. Antonio and Matt were both helpful enough to recommend some patio shades that are available at Costco. They even offered some advice on how to install them and the types of screws I should use. During my Mother's Day party all of our guests were surprised at how great everything looked and were shocked in how fast everything was done. Overall I had a great experience with these guys. This review is based on my initial call and consultation. I did NOT hire this company for my job. I spoke to Antonio from Patio Designers and he was helpful over the phone. I briefly told him what I was looking for and he answered all of my questions. I told him that I would like for them to come by and see my yard since I was looking for a patio cover solid insulated and possibly looking into the louvered system. (Open and close roof) Antonio told me that someone would be at my house at 10 am on a Saturday. I'm a busy man, and time is money. Punctuality is important to me. Having said that, Matt called me at 9:55 am on the day of our consultation appointment ( "interview" for the job) telling me he was 45 mins away. I quickly replied, "what happened to 10 am?" So, instead of him apologizing explaining what happened, he decided to entertain a "debate" borderline argue with me. Confrontational almost. At this point I realized that this company was not going to get my business. To start off with punctuality issues, then to try and argue and justify why "they're right, and you're wrong", not good business etiquette. I believe if Matt was maybe apologetic, I would have understood and allowed them to quote me for the job. Obviously, I cancelled even before they made my property. It's a red flag to me when a company does not show these attributes right away; punctuality, communication and accountability. A dodged a huge problem here. We had our patio put in 10 years ago. Our warranty just ran out. We have had leaks in our patio for 10years. Our last house had an almost identical patio for 22 years no leaks. Go figure. Current patio is just shoddy work. We are sorry we had them do it. read more

I am very disappointed with this company and the communication (or lack thereof) we had with them. Matt came to our house in early February to give us an estimate. He showed us a lot of examples, made great suggestions, and after our meeting we were really excited about the project. We were given an estimate of 4-8 weeks AFTER the contract was signed and the deposit was received. We signed the contract and mailed the deposit on 2/28. It was received a few days later. We expected the project to be completed 8 weeks from early March, which would put us in late April. My wife sent a series of emails to Matt to get updates: First email on 2/28 confirming the deposit was sent. He replied and thanked us, and said he would let us know as soon as he got a date from the MFG regarding supplies. Second email on 3/22 asking for an update. Matt replied and let us know he just checked with the MFG and still didn't have a date. He said they typically give a date and then he can schedule the work within 2 weeks of that date, then said he'd let us know when he hears back Third email on 4/21 asking if materials are on their way. He replied "Still no dates yet, wish he had something but nothing yet." That same day, 4/21 my wife replied "at what point do you reach out to the company, and do we anticipate it being more than 10 weeks MAX he quoted us (keep in mind this was actually 8 weeks)." He replied "4-8 weeks was our estimate but things have been taking longer to get on materials end. Office number and John who is project manager would be best to ask to cut middle man out. Sorry I cannot be of more help." This past Monday (4/26) she called the office on Matt's advice and spoke to John, the "project manager." He told her "we are waiting on the permit, and this can take a few weeks or a few months depending on the city." My wife asked him if they have ordered the materials, he said no. She asked him to get back to her with a date regarding the permit. He said he would call her back and didn't. This Wednesday 4/28 I called the office to speak with John, the supposed "project manager" regarding the permit. I told him I was on the City website and didn't see any active or pending permits. I asked if the materials have been ordered from the MFG, he said no, because they need to wait for the permit first. He said I should talk to Matt since he is in charge of the permits. I called Matt, he answers the phone "hello?" I asked if this was Matt, he said yes, and I introduced myself and asked him what was going on. He said the permit was "held up" because he didn't have a lot plan. He said he has been "running around like a chicken with his head cut off lately with all the estimates," and that's on him because he didn't have time to measure and create a lot plan. I told him I was on the website which showed no active or pending permits, so it wasn't held up, it was never submitted. He said once again that's on me, I've been too busy and dropped the ball." So we paid them the deposit and expecting this is moving along, only to find out 9 weeks later literally NOTHING has been done. No permit, no order to the MFG, nothing. At this point my wife and I are done with this company. In his emails to my wife, Matt never mentioned a permit, in fact he mislead us, lied to us, miscommunicated and told us that he was "waiting for the MFG to give them a date." 3 separate times. I followed up with an email documenting all of this miscommunication to Grace, then I called to speak to her. She agreed they dropped the ball, and the permit should be the first thing they should have requested in the beginning. We did get our deposit back no questions asked. The shocking thing is no one reached out to us to even attempt to make this right. My wife asked the office people to speak to the owner (Antonio). We never heard from him. I guess they don't need our business. Some suggestions for this company would be to have a dedicated office person to handle paperwork, submit permits, track orders, update customers, etc. The guy (Matt) doing estimates is busy. You need someone to handle details and not lie to the customers about their project. Don't tell them you are waiting for a date from the MFG to ship supplies when you haven't submitted the order. Don't tell the customer you've submitted a permit when you haven't. Don't tell the customer the permit is "held up because we need a plot/lot plan" when you A) haven't submitted a permit, and B), never asked for/created a plot/lot plan that is required for a permit. I cannot recommend this company and will insure my 3 friends that were going to add a structure to their yard do not use these guys. read more

During the pandemic, I had to get really creative to keep my kids active. My backyard was full of dirt and I had no clue what I wanted to do. I had one of the guys come out and measure the space to pour concrete. The quote was quick and he gave us a few options to choose from. I was working within a certain budget and they were very understanding and made it happen. Not long after the quote, I had two guys come out and start prepping the backyard for the concrete. They were very professional and addressed all my concerns. The concrete came out beautifully. It match my existing patio concrete and to this day there aren't any cracks in the concrete. They pour the slab last June and it is holding up well. I recommend them for anyone who needs concrete work. read more

They did a great job with the patio cover. We received a lot of compliments on the workmanship and you can't beat the shade. They did such an amazing job, we budgeted for them to do a complete tear out of our backyard by removing cracked concrete and debris. They replaced with textured concrete with a cool brown finish. The colors really pop. They also installed sod and decorative rock in a creative layout that made our backyard look bigger. Our experience was bad. Our project that was to take three days ended up 6 months. First two very inexperienced young men showed up and incorrectly placed the wrong cement for the posts. It all had to come out. Antonio finally came to check our progress and was yelling at the two men that everything was wrong. It was good Antonio showed up but frankly I had to call multiple times for status on when their workmen would show up again. I will say I did have a change order to install heaters and they did take time to come in. If you are on the peninsula I would not recommend this operation. I decided to go with Patio Designers because the individual who gave us the proposal, Matt, was the only representative who laid out perfectly the design on paper and explained thoroughly the options. He gave me a great idea of how to lay out the patio and great suggestions for what would look best. The materials were delivered sooner then expected, the installation took one day, and the results were amazing. I hired Patio Designers to do a deck cover. It was a bit of a complicated site, and I must say that i was VERY impressed with the quality of the work and materials, the proposal/scoping process, the timeliness of their work and commitments to deadlines, and the amount of work. I worked closely with Matt to design the best approach, and he was great. Antonio lead the construction team, and he was very knowledgeable and professional...and clearly committed to doing a great job. During the proposal process, we wanted to see an example of their work, and they pointed us to a couple of different places, which we went to see. The materials appear to be well constructed, the structure is secure, and fits well with our all wood home (even thought the materials are aluminum). They have a well conceived approach, and i thought that their workmanship was great. They also have a 10 year warranty which i appreciate. I have never written a Yelp review before, but i feel compelled to do so because i saw one or two negative reviews, and my experience wasn't anything close to that. We recently got a patio cover installed in our backyard and Antonio/his crew did a great job with this project !! At the time of proposals, Matt came out promptly and gave us a quote and drawing sketches, clearly explaining how the patio cover is going to the installed. The quote was competitive but not the lowest we had but I was not confident enough in other proposals I received. Matt appeared knowledgeable about the materials and other aspects of the project. We have got some custom space between our backyard walls that need to be covered with the cover and Matt was the only guy we felt confident enough who clearly articulated how's he going to cover it with the cover. The installation happened after some time as the permits took time. Antonio helped with the drawings and other materials and guided us with the entire process with the city. On the day of the installation, the crew showed up on time and did the entire job in a single day, they came back the next day to finish other pieces and also did the electricals (Fans, Lights, Switches etc). They clearly understood what I wanted and exactly built what they said they are going to build The patio cover came out very beautiful!! With the rain, there were some water leaks afterwards (which were not surprising to me, given the nature of the project), Antonio promptly scheduled the repairs which were done seamlessly in no time. In response to Mayra and Patio Designers: First, don't lecture. It makes you look petty. Second, your "timeline" is inaccurate, as were many of your representations. We signed a contract in early June, and work was to begin in 6 weeks. It was more than 8 weeks. The materials were delivered to our home, from your yard, and were the wrong items. How did they leave your yard without being checked? I was told the wrong load was delivered, but it was the correct load for our project, but not checked by you before delivery. Poor business practice. The speaker wire was installed, as Matt indicated you would do. There was plenty of wire available, 100 feet, and you did not purchase any additional wire. In fact, Antonio tried to charge me for the installation and the wire, even though I had the wire and Matt represented if we provided the wire, you would install it at no additional charge. As for hauling away the old awning we had, you did this based ON THE CONTRACT, and didn't do us any favors. As for the post installation, no, I was not satisfied with the improper installation, and Antonio did NOT offer any correction or accomodation. In fact, I had to point this out to him! I DID express my displeasure to Antonio, the owner. The "final touch up" items you reference were shoddy workmanship, including paint overspray and incomplete caulking. As for not accepting credit cards, I did not look at your "business profile" on this site. A better answer would be to explain why you do not disclose this fact to the customer until you want payment, perhaps by including this disclosure in your contract? Maybe you're afraid of losing work because you don't accept credit cards; fair enough, but don't conceal this fact until after the customer signs a contract. Be honest. As for the rest of your response, it looks like an advertisement. You will indeed stand behind the warranty, regardless of my post. Again, no favors there. I will also point out that your reply was authored by someone I never met, and, to the best of my knowledge, never talked with. I assume you are the owners daughter, as Matt described the business as family run, and he isn't family. If you're going to respond to a customer's post, at lease have someone who knows the facts (such as reading the contract) respond rather than someone protecting their family. Sorry, but I still would not use this business again, and by looking at other posts, it seems several of the problems I encountered were experienced by others! read more

I had to call the office and was told the designers would not arrive 12:30-1pm. Terrible customer relations is horrible and the installation very slow. The contract indicated 2-4 days for installation and 3 weeks, still not done. They come out whenever they want to, tell me they are coming out and don't. They were ready to ask for the money right away though, no delay in that. Once you pay the two thirds portion of the job, they take their sweet time. They make a mess and no clean up. The installers broke my backyard lamp off the wall and they just left it hanging there. I had to go out and sweep up the glass from the flood light on the ground. I had read most of the reviews before I settled on Patio Designers. One of the reasons that I decided on this company was the sales person Matt; who came out and gave us ideas and design for our yard. After that, everything went down hill from there. I would not recommend this company to any one who is reading this. One of the worst contractors and company that I have ever worked with, and I have dealt with many in the few homes that I have owned. If I was on a time frame, I would have put into contract that if they did not complete the install within the days as indicated, I would be reimbursed $200-$300 per day they passed deadline. I met with Matt, (who was even early to our first meeting ) and he delivered a quote the next morning. He worked tirelessly to obtain my permit (which took a three week period in my city). The materials were delivered promptly and the installation crew began setting up the framing. My only delay came from city hall. The crew that did my installation were professional and very hard workers. The job itself, which was a sunroom enclosure over an existing deck, included electrical outlets lights and a fan installation. These are the type of people I would choose to do the job if I had the choice. I really did not believe they could complete the job in just three days...but guess what...they did just that! Everything looked great...but then we encountered a problem. I was in a client relations business for many years, so I know how to tell a great business from one who does not value clients and that is by what they do to solve problems. Antonio, the owner called me personally. He needed to gather information from his install crew and advised that he would have them out the very next morning. That was this morning. The crew arrived as I expected. What I didn't expect is that it would take them literally minutes to resolve the problem! These people...all of them, were fabulous. They were easy to deal with and all of them went the extra mile to ensure my satisfaction with the job. Beyond that they have a ten year warranty and one more thing I didn't know was they have a customer service department as well. At the Home and Garden show we saw a remote controlled louvered patio cover . We thought what a great Idea. Marco from Patio Designers came to the house and drew some plans--the price was high [$12,500], but he told us that Roseville codes requirements were strict and that the patio cover would pass all there requirements. We agreed--. There building engineer made drawing to submit . The patio cover was built and looked great to me. We paid for the cover. Roseville building inspector turned it down. The patio cover was NOT built to the plans. The patio foundation was no where close to the plans. We were screwed! After months of arguing and an additional $900 we finally passed the Roseville building inspection. I guess this is Buyer Beware!! By short cutting the design it saved them money,,but it gave me headaches and cost me more money. 1. Make sure they get a building permit before building[Marco did not] 2. Any issues or complications that arose were dealt with in a responsive and timely manner. Antonio and his crew worked very hard for long hours to complete our project in time for a family gathering. The guys were a bit late the first day due to a delay by the supplier of the materials, but I understand stuff happens, and Antonio kept me posted on their ETA. Our funky old wiring created a bit of a challenge for installing a new electrical outlet, but the problem was solved in time for our party.The style and dimensions of our lovely new patio cover are just right for the shape and size of our yard. Antonio and his team constructed a new patio cover for us. The Good: - Initial consultation where they helped us figure out what was the best design for our needs. Had some good suggestions we had not considered including a couple of translucent "skylight" sections. - Professionalism onsite. Good communication both onsite and via text to provide updates/ask questions. Made some smart adjustments including shifting an electric plug to a better location to avoid having visible conduit running down wall and tying drainage into existing downspout. Also, conscientious about our dog (made sure to come to the door when first arriving onsite and made sure to keep the gate closed throughout the day. - Follow up: had to return a few days later to finish a couple of items. Returned as scheduled. In addition we had received some rain in the interim and discovered that our existing gutter was leaking. They found the problem and sealed the leak even though it was not part of their installation. - Finished product is great and cost was very reasonable! Would have gotten five stars, but: - Scheduling was a bit of a challenge as we wanted to be onsite when job started to ask some questions. They had to wait about 2-3 weeks for parts to arrive (no big deal) and then we only got one day notice ahead of when the crew was going to show up. They were planning to come in the afternoon after finishing another job, but that job ran late, so they did not begin work at our place until the next day. I understand that it is hard to know exactly how long jobs will take, still this was a bit frustrating. Other than that, we were very happy with our experience overall. read more
