Came here in the morning for pickleball open play, there are 4 courts and you just line up to play. It wasn't busy when we came in around noon. Court is a little sandy but can't complain for some free open play! read more

The queuing setup was pretty straightforward and most of the players were honest about leaving the court after reaching "11". Really wanted to play while visiting and I'm only here for a few days. Found this court near where I'm staying. Came to play around 6:45a/7a and it gets busy. Everyone was very nice. The lines are a bit hard to see and may need some updates on the paint but I still had fun. There was parking when I got here but I can see it fills up early. I was able to play 2 games and had fun. read more

Well maintained tennis and pickleball courts by Kapi'olani. We wanted to play pickleball while visiting, so finding this place that was not "bring your own net" was super convenient. Groups here had such good etiquette and sportsmanship and we made some pickleball buddies along the way. read more

We love the Diamondhead tennis courts! We are not good tennis players but we do it to keep active and it's so much fun. The courts are set up really cool here so some times there's shade from one of the many nearby huge trees. Everyone is so nice as we figured out the waiting system for courts when it's busy. The system is you go to the clock wall to see which courts will be available. The players will set the clock to the beginning time and they get 45 minutes of play time. There are corresponding benches that you wait at and when the time comes you go to the court and let the players know you're waiting and their time is up. The courts are very well maintained, there's always free parking around, and the park is just beautiful as always. If you're looking to play tennis in the shadow of Diamondhead, this is it. read more

It's a great tennis center close to where I reside just outside Waikiki, but it can get very crowded and difficult to get an open court especially in the mornings and late afternoons. The courts are nicely maintained and there is a court timer board where the waiting area is. read more

Courts are nicely maintained. Good shade. Free parking. Bus stop right out front. One stall in the bathroom and a water fountain. When you arrive you can check to see what time each court started playing. They can play for 45 minutes if someone is waiting. Avoid a woman named Jacky. She thinks she owns the place. She cheats on the time and her group uses multiple courts for hours. I arrived at 815 am and Jacky was setting the clock for 3 courts as a 845 am start time. If anyone tries to talk to her about it, she just starts arguing with them. If I lived here, I would definitely try to work with Parks & Rec to figure out a solution. Other than that, this is an enjoyable place to play tennis. read more

10 newly-re-paved tennis courts, a decent sized parking lot, bathrooms with a door and toilet paper, water fountain with cold water, a covered waiting area with benches, and Diamond Head Crater as a back drop. Wow. Just beware of some of the "regulars" who act like they own the place. They can sometimes be obnoxious and downright nasty. The regular crowd doesn't welcome new players. They treat it as their private club and are rude. There is a woman Jacky who thinks she is in charge of putting games together for everyone. Twice I went there to try to reach out to her and she was so unpleasant. If you are looking to possibly meet some nice players to eventually get games it will be almost impossible to happen. Public courts that they treat like a private club. After the second day I saw what's going on, it's a 45 minute limit & when you get there each court is set for an hour on their mid evil clock board. The locals change the times on the board so they can play for hours. if you're new they look down on you & then when they see you're really good they ask if they can hit with you. Besides that everything is so well-maintained. my favorite thing about this place is that it is fully encompassed in a park setting with Kapiolani park wrapped around it. as all the green is beautiful to look at, but it also helps to cool down the area and creating lots of shaded Street parking. also helps to dampers the noise of the city. * gate opens 6:am locked at 7:pm * 10 smooth tennis courts * shaded waiting area for courts * 40 parking spots + street parking * public bathrooms, with doors, Single stall plus changing room. (No showers) * water fountain * small bike rack to lock up your bike. * lots of shade at seating, and picnic tables a good quiet place to take a lunch. read more

This is a very nice and well maintained tennis facility. They have timers that tell you how long the players have been on the court and the waiting area is shaded. There is ample parking. If you come around 11:30am, it's usually empty. I think it's because that's the hottest time of day and no one wants to be out there with all that heat. read more

~8 tennis courts, decent quality although they look a bit old and none are lit. There's a newer grandstand tennis court in USTA blue. Generally old and dated. The office front door had a couple news articles posted about how ~$13 million in taxpayer money was mismanaged during a rehab project. One looks at the place and wonders, "What $13 million?" Court use is limited to 45 minutes, depending on how busy it is. Good enough place to find a pickup game, better chance in the morning and late afternoon. There seem to be a few homeless folks who've made this public facility their regular hangout. read more

Ten!! 10!! + Courts are nicely maintained + Fair system of keeping people within 45 min time limit (indicate your playing start time on the clocks outside of the restrooms) + Stadium court with bleachers - if you're not a pro you can feel like one! + Decent sized parking lot - No lights :( :( :( - Restroom could be cleaner At other parks it can be hard to find an open court. My friends and I love playing here because you can get a court pretty quickly (did I mention there's TEN COURTS?!), and all the courts are in great condition. I really love these courts. They are very nice and clean. There are 10 courts in total with a kid's court in addition. One of the courts is also a competition court. This means seats surrounding the tennis court for competitions. 10 courts is a lot of courts for a tennis area in comparison with the other public tennis courts on the island. There is a sign up area for use of these courts and the time frame is 45 minutes. BONUS: parking lot next to these courts!!! This is a bonus as the courts are located next to Kapiolani Park and parking for the park can be quiet fierce!! The downside is that these courts do not have lights and therefore are not open after 6pm. read more

Got there 7:30 to play Pickleball. We were in luck court #11 was empty. Hubby and I played 3 singles game. Perfect and enough.

Almost like a private club here. sign ups are easy and you wait on the benches under some shade. You have to sit on the designated bench to which you r court is assigned and put your time in on the clock for that court. Good system but there are some people that take advantage. Parking is normally good unless there is an event at Kapiolani Park. read more

This is a great facility with nice courts, beautiful landscaping, great views of Diamond Head, and court timers, but saving your court can almost be more competitive than your tennis game itself. I'd prefer to go somewhere with worse amenities/courts than battle with feisty patrons over court use. read more

Diamond Head has 10 courts. Ala Moana has 10 courts. Both have different personalities. Diamond Head has better but more aloof players. Ala Moana more mellow and more local players. But hey, if you're good, both places will welcome you, I think. read more

I played tennis for the University of Hawaii in the mid 70s. We used these courts when we played John McEnroe's Stanford team when they made the trip over. While John did not make the trip, the rest of Stanford's team did. I still love playing on these courts to this day! read more
