I generally just opt for a 'polish change' or 'polish only' instead of getting an entire manicure. I find the result to be the exact same and it's of course cheaper that way. All of the techs I've had do a great, clean job with nail painting. Never had a result I didn't like! Most recently came in for a dark polish on my finger nails and she did a wonderful job in 15 minutes. The salon itself is always clean, but it's certainly outdated. Could maybe use a little upgrade in that way, and maybe a little lower on the intense overhead lighting- just mini suggestions on making it a little more spa-esque. It's tucked into a little shopping strip off of Santa Monica, so it could be very easy to miss. Give this local spot on your next mission to get a mani/pedi!

On occasion there have been other guys in the salon getting pedicures so I clearly am not the only man coming to the salon. Sometimes there have been women customers who look at me with scowls like I'm invading their sacred turf. I can disarm them by saying "By comparison my dogs look pretty darn good if you've looked at some of the other feet being worked on." They tend to smirk while quickly looking at their ugly feet before turning away from staring at me.

Especially the hand massage at the end, wow what a little bonus that was. I brought my 12 year old daughter in- her hair is curly and very thick and we were having a hard time managing it. Ritchie was amazing- not only did he give her a beautiful haircut, he showed me and my daughter step by step how to style and fry her hair so we would have the same results at home. He also provided us with small portions of the same products he used so we could try them at home and told me to call him if we had any trouble. Ritchie has a great personality and is fun to talk to- he had my shy daughter opening up and we all had a great time chatting while he did her hair. They use Davines products which are all-natural, so that's a huge plus if you're concerned about chemicals. Overall, I can't say enough about Brio! I expressed that it hurt pretty bad when he started ripping my acrylics off and continued to try on each nail until I expressed it hurt multiple times and asked to soak them. Then another worker (seemed to be the manager) mocked me while starting to rip off the acrylics on the customer next to me. The workers seemed to be laughing and mocking me expressing it was painful. Very unprofessional, bad customer service, and just very rude and non welcoming. Another note: I always show the nails that I am asking for and how much they will cost because a lot of nail places will throw a random price at you at the end. I showed the nails I asked for, they said $70, and when my nails were almost done he said $85. I expressed that they had already told me $70 and that is what I will be paying. If It was an option for 0 stars I would put that.
