Buyer beware. Another South Florida Shady Contractor - Steve Harris owner of Diamond Screen Corp. Steve Harris, the owner of Diamond Screen Corp came out to give us an estimate to tear down our old screen and build a new one over the lanai. He was then going to fence in our pool. Neighbors have used Steve and his reviews are generally good. Our old screen was collapsing and this was a hazard. He assured us he could get it done within a week. He came out more than once and gave us a price. We agreed. He came over to drop off temporary fencing to secure our pool area. Everything was great. About a week later he texted us to say "great news" your materials are in. He asked to be called into the gate so his sons could drop off 2x4s and materials to remove the old enclosure. A few minutes later his sons arrived, put the temporary fence they dropped off last week back in their truck - and simply left. A few minutes after that, we received another text from Steve saying: "I'm sorry I will have to pass on this job. I think it's better to leave on a positive note". We thought the text was sent by mistake. We texted and called him promptly to see what this was all about. We called again, and again... Straight to voicemail. Needless to say, how extremely SHADY of him to LIE and say he is dropping off materials and needed gate access when his true intention were to just retrieve materials he left on our property and bail on the job. Flat out lied! Who does business like that? We still have not received any text or call from Steve to provide us with any legitimate explanation as to why he canceled the job. We had 4 other estimates scheduled, but Steve was the first one to give us a quote and we really liked him, so we gave him the job within minutes of receiving his written estimate. He came over multiple times to measure, drop-off temporary fencing, walk through the details of the project, etc. We were left puzzled and extremely disappointed. I cannot believe a business owner would conduct business this way. We are so lucky that we had not yet given him 50% deposit. We have worked with many south Florida contractors and NEVER has something like this happened. BUYER BEWARE. If he would do something like this to us - he WILL do something even worse to you. Steve personally is very customer service oriented, he let me know what was happening every step of the way. He made sure to answer my million and one question. I am very detailed oriented and at times a bit anal for the small details, but he made me feel secure every step of the way. Never pay them before they finish the job! Sadly I did! When we did the contract he said that the final payment was at the end of the job, but this didn't happened because Steve asked for the money before, I gave the final payment he guaranteed me that he will come the day after to finish the job. Not true, it toke more than 10 days with messages and phone call to (partially) finish it. There is paints everywhere, holes never closed in the screen structures, the pavers are not sealed properly and the grout in between doesn't exist, same for the grout in the pool etc. The hole in the roof.... and other nice jobs that costed more money. Also behind the old tile we found plastic bottles, cups glass bottles etc, not cleaned, but always said that I don't have to worry because at the end everything will be clean and nice done. I can always post pictures of what is a nice job done! Dear Steve, it is for void misunderstanding that I'm answering here! I don't think you reached my husband yesterday, yes you tried to call him soon you read the reviews. You never got the approved from my husband because I had the money and, if you remember, he was working in the afternoon and I was working in the morning and was Wednesday, I walked with you but nothing was finished, you needed the money and you guaranteed me that you will come back the day after and finish the job.... you didn't! Then you said Saturday but you didn't, same for Sunday, Monday etc...... I got really upset so you came but really you think this is a job nice done?? We can keep writing back and forth but the true are in the pictures! If I would know that for 4 months I was going through this, after spend so much money I would never never do it!!! So for void the misunderstandings I will post only few pictures, and if you want me to take out this reviews just fixed your nice job, but you'll have only one day and not send me the weather radar because really doesn't work! If not just stop, it is better, my husband didn't speak with you and doesn't want any more. You forgot often what you told us, included the last lump, that it wasn't something nice that you did to us, we have your messages. So look at the pictures and think. After two months we are discovering more problems, they did a terrible job, the door already broken, he didn't screwed some poles of the structures and with the hurricane we discovered that he didn't put the screen individually but he did four at the time so if one blow out four togheter are blowing out what a huge mistake to hire them!!!! read more

We absolutely love our beautiful new enclosure. From beginning to end Steve was prompt, responsive, efficient and just delightful to work with. Our structure has added so much space and beauty to our home and there have been no problems with it all. We have a little one and because of that, safety was a concern for us. To be honest it is the strongest part of the house! We love our impact windows and double door he put in for us. Our "patio" is now a functional part of our home and is no longer just a patio, it's our family room! We spend most of the time there and couldn't be happier. His design is brilliant. His pricing is honest, reasonable and beyond fair. The crew was friendly and on time. This is by far one of the best investments we have made in our home.
