My previous dentist was also in Hoboken (will not name) and when I went for my cleaning and to address an issue I was having with a crown, they put patients in the stalls next to me and didn't social distance us which was odd. When leaving, I noticed multiple members of staff intermittently wearing masks (ie pulling them down to speak to each other). This left me extremely uncomfortable and in search of a new dental office I went. First, the staff here is wonderful - courteous, friendly and wonderful customer service. Dr. Moawad diagnosed my crown issue, explained my options and great bed side manner. Second - I wish I knew her name, but the receptionist was great. When I called to asked about their Covid protocol, she explained in detail that they have air purifiers in every room, mandate masks all time, and send all paperwork in advance to be completed digitally to limit any in-person exchange, I can't recommend this place enough.

Whoever I spoke to not only misread my insurance but, when I tried to correct her mistaken claim (she made claims about my insurance that were objectively wrong), she just said "Alright, I'm not doing back and forth with you," which was extremely rude and blunt as I had only tried to point out a mistake she had made processing my insurance. I did not feel kind, courteous, or like they were at all welcome to accept new patients.

Well, I have no camera or smart phone so, I have no pictures BUT, I feel the need "To Share" my experiences at Dr. Savalia's Kennedy Dental Center. Ah, I know why there are no reviews. There is another Kennedy Dental Center further up Kennedy Blvd at 85th Street. I've never been there. This review is not about them. It is about the: Kennedy Dental Center 3196 Kennedy Blvd, 3rd Floor Union City , NJ 07087 Phone: 201-330-8400 First off (I just found out), Dr. Savalia has a website . Curious about what Dr. Savalia's Practice offers? Check it out. I became inspired to review this practice upon receipt of yet another LOWER than reasonable bill for services rendered there. I am 71 years old and every penny counts. I moved to North Bergen from Staten Island where I had a craftsman for a dentist and his high cost was ghastly but in vogue with his talent. A talent I have seen equaled by Dr. Savalia but, without the hefty fees that I experienced on Staten Island. Well, of cause money isn't everything, right? For the first two years of my life in North Bergen, I visited the Kennedy Dental Center for check ups and cleaning. And that cleaning by his dental hygienist (by the way) is more through than any other dentistry office I've been in in all my 71 years. More, the office staff of three young ladies are efficient and caring (they know what a tooth emergency is). It means a lot when you are facing ANY dental procedure, especially the one I faced yesterday. We are talking about an infected, massive molar (three prong) tooth. You know, the kind a dentist has to SAW apart to get it out. Dr. Savalia did a perfect job. I am sitting here today, writing this piece with a giant hole in my jaw that is healing up nicely. I judged the craftsman dentist on Staten Island by all the aspects of his practice especially things like tooth extractions and crown insertion details. I am so pleased to have such a Dentist right across the street at the Kennedy Dental Center. I thought YOU should know this craftsman is in our neighborhood. And I suspect there is more good intentions in Dr. Savalia's practice than just dentistry. We all need EXCELLENT, professional dental care that is AFFORDABLE. I believe the Kennedy Dental Center serves that need. I highly recommend it.

While attempting to arrange transportation via Uber, I was verbally confronted by a staff member identified as Shu Hopkins. Mr. Hopkins exhibited aggressive and vulgar behavior, which culminated in him violently snatching my phone out of my hand mid-call while I was speaking with a witness via FaceTime. I was in a vulnerable state, recovering from anesthesia and disoriented, which made his conduct even more distressing and unacceptable. The incident was witnessed in real time via FaceTime, and the individual on the call is prepared to submit a supporting statement attesting to the aggression and physical nature of the act. At the time of the incident, Emily Herbst, whom I understand is the daughter of the practice owner and was serving as manager on duty, was present. I am requesting a full internal investigation into the behavior of Mr. Hopkins and a formal response from your office outlining what steps will be taken to address this matter and prevent similar occurrences in the future. Your practice, registered under New Jersey Dental License Number DI01888113 and NPI 1356626139, has an obligation to provide a safe and respectful environment for all patients. I intend to escalate this matter to the appropriate regulatory and legal authorities should there be no satisfactory response. Please let me know if you require any additional documentation or contact details for the witness. Hopefully this does not get deleted. if so i have proof of uploads dates and time stamp photos.

I called earlier in the day for emergency visit due to excruciating pain, the man I spoke to who I…read morethink was the doctor told me I would be going to the right place bec they specialize in gum issues/periodontist. I know it was the dr , bec when i arrived the only one there was a nice lady who took care of the front/assistant and the male doctor. The dentist was very informative but pushed on dentures /implants. I went in as emergency patient for pain in my gums . I know i need a lot of dental work thats needed to be done. But the pain wasnt really taken care of until the end of the visit when i asked him what about the pain, what can he or i do for relief? He hesitated at first to give me prescription then gave me a script for antibiotics bec I asked for a solution to solve my emergency visit . The whole time I was there the visit consisted of just talking about treatment plans and the outrageous prices. And he cannot really do anything right there and then not even a dental cleaning.,and if i need a cleaning to relieve the pain I have to make an appointment bec his hygienist wil be the one to do it and if i do the implants, it's also another person who will do some parts of it. The deep cleaning will cost me thousands and implants to about $50k.The whole time nothing was done but do a scan of my teeth, which i agreed to do thinking he can do something to releive the pain after seeing the scan right that time which cost me almost $400 added to the $145 for the emergency visit fee where it was more like just a consultation. Almost $600 out of my pocket with no solution to my pain. I also wasnt to crazy about the lay out of the dental exam area..they are only divided by "glass" partitions and no doors..you can see & hear the doctor/patient is doing & discussing ... breaking patient confidentiality/hippa . And vice versa the others can also hear and see whats going on with my visit. The patients that left before and after me ,i can tell were disappointed too leaving bec all i heard from their discussions were the high prices for procedures and they just left right after within minutes the dr talked to them . Im going to go to other dentists for second opinion. The only thing good i got out of the emergency visit was a scan of my teeth , and know what my future options may be even though I felt he kept trying to push for implants. I work for doctors and when theres an emergency the doctors try to solve the issues first either by doing a procedure or give meds to help the patient instantly...then talk about future treatment plans without it being the main focus. Why tell me im going to the right place bec they deal with gum pain when the dr couldn't do anything and if i didn't ask for meds, i would have left the office with nothing to help relieve it. The only thing I liked about the visit was the nice assistant, she made me feel less anxious being in the dentist office and the dentist was upfront what the treatments options are. Im just disappointed that he couldn't do anything to relieve the pain without me asking for meds at the end and mainly just talk about expensive treatments! Why accept emergency patients and not do anything to help relieve the pain. I should have just went to hospital ER where they would have probably given me meds to help with pain right away.

I'm sharing this painful experience not just to protect my rights, but to advocate for transparency…read moreand accountability in the dental community--for the sake of future patients. On June 3, 2025, I underwent LANAP surgery at this clinic for teeth #11 and #31, referred by Dr. Andrew Andrawis. Unfortunately, the experience left me with more harm than healing. No proper imaging was conducted prior to surgery--only two low-resolution X-rays of tooth #31 were taken on the same day. Tooth #11, which was also treated, had no imaging at all. What I did not know at the time was that the surgeon, Dr. Marina Mishriky, is Dr. Andrawis's spouse--a relationship that was never disclosed. I was not given alternative treatment options, nor was I informed about existing bone loss or the potential need for bone grafting. I paid $2,382.32 out of pocket for a surgery I was told was "less invasive" and "just as effective." Over the following weeks, my symptoms worsened--severe swelling, pain, and infection. Despite repeated phone calls between June 9 and June 23, I received no meaningful follow-up. My concerns were dismissed by staff. When I finally reached someone, I was told no doctors were available until days later. I ended up in the emergency room at 1:00 AM and received IV pain treatment. Later that morning, I was treated by another provider, Dr. Nancy Kim, who had to perform an emergency flap surgery. She documented serumal black calculus, active infection, and 5mm of bone loss--evidence that the original LANAP procedure had failed to clean the area and possibly worsened the condition. To make things worse, when I requested my records, I found inaccurate and misleading clinical notes, including false claims that I declined follow-up care. My request for corrections was denied. When I asked for transparency, I was met with condescension and dismissive responses like "we're not worried about formal complaints." This is not just about poor service. It is about violations of basic medical ethics--undisclosed relationships, lack of informed consent, neglect of follow-up care, and resistance to record correction. Patients deserve better. Dental practices like this one should be subject to greater oversight. I am still recovering physically and emotionally from this experience. I hope no other patient has to go through what I did.
