I have both ulcerative colitis and COPD. I am no longer on continuous medications thanks to Dr. Black. She is truly a healer.

She is simply amazing. The nicest person who possibly has the best healing hands on the West Coast.

I had been dealing with neck pain for over three years. I went through countless tests -- X-rays,…read moreCT scans, ultrasounds -- and yet never received a clear diagnosis. Doctors could only tell me what it wasn't, but never what it was. From my own research, I suspected it might be carotidynia, and the pain would often trigger migraines and become absolutely debilitating. After just seven weeks of acupuncture with Dr. Kim, I've had zero flare-ups for over a month now. None! It's absolutely astonishing. I can't believe that after three years of chronic pain, I finally have lasting relief. Dr. Kim has been such a gift. His treatments, care, and attention have made such a huge difference in my life, and I am so deeply grateful to him. I only wish my insurance covered his services, because I'd keep coming back for my back, shoulders, hips -- all the achy parts of my aging body! If you've been struggling with pain and haven't found answers, I can't recommend Dr. Kim highly enough. Acupuncture truly changed my life.

I knew for our second baby I needed to go back to see Dr. Lin so I started seeing her end of 2024 and same as last time, a successful embryo transfer and pregnancy! Since I was a few years older this time around she suggested I drink korean deer antler tea (heads up it isn't cheap but would do it again since it worked for me!) Highly recommend Dr. Lin, especially if you are going through IVF like I did!

She would do that while she was putting needles on my body during treatment, which made the process extremely uncomfortable and stressful. It made me think if I say no she could potentially hurt me. When I asked her to please discuss the frequency after the treatment, she told me she did that with all patients. She was very dismissive of my symptoms. She just assumed her herbal formula would work for everyone. When I mentioned negative side effects to her about the herbs or the herbs did not make much of a difference, she would tell me I must have remembered it wrong or it is not possible. On one occasion, I traveled out of town. She gave me a bottle of pills to take instead of the herbs because I would not have an herbal cooker to make them. She told me it was her own special blend because it had her name on the bottle. When I got home, I peeled back the label and noticed it was a bottle of standard Chinese herbal blend that could be purchased online or in Chinese herbal shops. She simply put a piece of tape with her name on it and called it her own special blend. That is very misleading and non transparent. She was careless with packing of the herbs. On more than one occasion, I found plastic wrappings in the herbs she accidentally included. (see attached screenshot) The herbs are supposed to be boiled in an herbal cooker so I could have been drinking boiled plastic.

Yo San has changed dramatically…read more For many years, it was a truly special place, and I received excellent care from a number of practitioners there. Some wonderful practitioners remain, which makes what happened all the more disappointing. In over three decades as a patient, I never had a significant issue until recently, when I had an interaction with a practitioner that left me feeling genuinely unsafe and deeply unsettled. Had it ended there, I likely would have viewed it as an unfortunate but isolated experience. What shocked me was the response from management. Rather than approaching the situation with curiosity, balance, or a genuine effort to understand what occurred, I felt that my concerns were dismissed and the entire situation was reframed in a way that bore little resemblance to my experience. The Yo San I knew was built on principles of compassion, healing, self-reflection, and open communication. The institution's response to this situation felt inconsistent with those values. Patients should know that there are still talented practitioners at Yo San. However, my experience with management left me questioning whether the culture of the organization still reflects the principles that originally made it such a respected and unique place.
