I had heard of her gift from a friend who told me Laura was able to tell her things about people from her past (spirits) and messages about experiences that no one else could have possibly known. That intrigued me so I had a personal reading with Laura one night and, although there wasn't any 'mind blowing' message, she described a few of my deceased relatives and some kind words they had for me. This was the first time I met Laura and she, nor my friend who introduced us, could have known about some things from my past. I briefly thought maybe I might hear from my father who had passed away 10 years ago. Although he didn't appear, his closest relatives did and the messages could have easily come from my father! I left with a calm sense that I was being watched over and on the right path. I would describe the reading as a loving and peaceful experience that I definitely plan to do again this year. My second experience was at a circle reading with over 20 women. That's a lot of people!! It was unexpected because we had to get more chairs. We arranged ourselves in a large circle with Laura at the top center. She started out by looking to the person directly to her right and mentioned the words a baby was sharing and it was the woman's child who had recently passed. She looked around and randomly started choosing other women and shared messages from uncles to friends that totally surprised the person. The words were about guidance in their current situations that the person knew exactly why the messages were being shared. These were very meaningful specific guidance, such as getting out of a job or relationship that was not right for the person. Amazing doesn't come close to describing how everyone was feeling for everyone else! The physical description of the spirit that appeared for me wasn't someone I could imagine that had been in my life but this spirit was cooking (which is my favorite thing to do). Maybe It was someone from a previous generation as the clothes she was wearing could have been a century old. Laura passed along a message about a decision that I had been thinking about recently and that was a huge surprise! Again, not only a message but specific guidance from a special spirit watching over me. I went into both readings that whatever happened, I would be appreciative. Although the spirits that appeared weren't my immediate relations, I believe I was somehow networked with them (sort of like LinkedIn) - once or twice removed but connected. But my now LA-based daughter was visiting, and wanted to see the Welcome blanket exhibit since her friend had one on display. (I'm not certain how a museum here is the recipient of 330 handmade quilts and blankets - 99 of which are on display - that will be distributed by Dorcas House to new immigrants, but it's pretty cool right? Maybe because southern New England was the center of US cloth manufacture through the early-mid 20th century?) Ad for the Museum itself: the cultural component of this mill community is front and center. The space is set up in a number of immersive dioramas - rooms and areas visitors walk through to get an experience of those who lived there. The first stop is a farm cabin in Quebec in snowy winter where (push the doorbell) a family decides to move south in the hope of a better life working in the mills. In the replica of a French Canadian Catholic Church we read about religious life in America, and sit in pews near the actual mosaic altar boys to learn a bit about the wave of immigration and the mill worker experience, there's a credit union (kind of explains the Bailey Savings & Loan in It's a Wonderful Life). There's a school room, complete with a teacher/priest and books in the desks in French and English. On the stairs to the second floor, pass posters and stories about others groups of immigrants to the area, along with the rooms upstairs: Woonsocket baseball players, tenement houses, mill and factory memorabilia, and a room set up with the equipment workers toiled at. Oh - dint miss the display of a union hall! My daughter buzzes through art museums. We were here for about 2 hours. And then we got to the room with the blankets. Quite a relevant history lesson here!
