Mother of bride here. I cannot believe in their write up they state they can order a dress. This is a buy off the rack. Mostly discontinued or flawed (uneven lace or missing buttons). Dresses are hung according to size. I asked if a dress was bought do they dry clean the dress prior to pressing it. Nope! So if you buy here plan on $100-$300 to dry clean your own dress. If pressed without cleaning make-up& oils from trying it on will be set permanently in your gown. They only have a front face mirror. No way to view sides or back. They do not allow photos. How can a bride truly see her back. I believe most dresses are really old or demo's and this shop does not want you to know that prior to purchasing it. The young consultant was not knowledgeable and had her drinking tumbler sipping away durning our appointment. I totally do not recommend this shop. read more

amazing! I went to 4 bridal shops and I just could not find what truly made me happy. the women that helped picked out exactly what I wanted! Gosh didn't love being told to lose weight when I'm trying to spend $2000 on a dress. Really wish we had been able to use our full appointment time actually trying to find what we wanted instead of being pushed out the door or towards a dress that looked horrible on. Was looking forward to checking out their full selection but didn't have the opportunity to go back to the rack after trying something on and the consultant did not take my feedback into account. She did not seem knowledgeable on the selection or fabrics in stock. And you can't take pictures?! That's the weirdest thing I've ever heard at a bridal shop. read more

I went shopping for my dress with a certain style in mind. The staff was so helpful! Stefani was my consultant & she did a great job! But, I know that all of them there would go out of their way to help you! I've bought many dresses from there. Bridesmaids dresses, prom dresses & now my wedding dress! I'm so thankful that we have a store like this! They're awesome & I would recommend them to anyone! read more

This is the best place to find a wedding dress! I went here recently with my best friend and she found the perfect dress! We have been to so many places and she was never able to find a unique dress that was also classy and affordable. All of the women that work here were so helpful but not pretentious like they are in some bridal boutiques. You get the quality of a fancy Homewood shop without being rushed and getting to pick your own dresses! Definitely recommend! read more

I have had a wonderful experience shopping for my wedding gown, and ultimately purchasing it, here at Diane's Formal Affair! These ladies are down to earth, and eager to please. They have an extensive selection of styles for a range of budgets, and also for a range of sizes. When initially calling around to different bridal boutiques to make appointments, I felt as though many shops didn't want to take time to help me, because I'm bigger than a sample size 6 and I didn't have over $3000 budgeted for my gown. Not a problem here, they said bring it! My first appointment went longer than the allotted hour, but never did they try to shoo me off. I probably tried on at least 20 different gowns before becoming utterly exhausted of the process, and Jane was still as enthusiastic as she could be. It was the best experience of grown-up dress-up! They have veils and jewelry to make sure you look like a bride while choosing your gown, and even have super-long-lasting lipstick to make sure all of your finishing touches are complete. My experience with the seamstress was equally as fun and pleasant. She was more than willing to make any changes I wanted to the dress, while still making professional recommendations without being pushy. All I needed was a hem and a bustle, and since my wedding was fast-approaching, she did this in 4 days! That may not be everyone's experience with having a gown altered, but it certainly exceeded my expectations. This was not the only bridal store I shopped at while searching for my gown, and I didn't have the "say yes to the dress" moment that is popularized on TV and Pinterest. It took a few more try-ons, and metally comparing all of those dresses to the one I ultimately chose. Diane's even let me make my deposit over the phone, once I finally narrowed down my search to THE ONE, which was so convenient! I was so glad that my favorite dress was from Diane's! I would recommend them to anyone shopping for a wedding gown! I can't imagine any better customer service! read more

This salon has had lots of problems.I have had rude service,constant phone calls to convince me to buy the dress I looked at,etc. It is harrassment. Also,authorities have raided this store and removed some designers wedding gowns because this salon owner does not have a license to sell some of these designers. How would you like to pay hundreds of dollars for a new gown and all you get is something cooked up in a back room or a second from a fashion show or the factory? It may be dirty and ripped and not even the design you wanted..but you are not getting any satisfaction... it is the same at Davids..their $99 special are all made with rotted material that is made in China and falls apart even when being tried on in the dressing rooms. Who would buy there after having to sign an arbitration protection order as soon as you walk in,before you even look? Girls wake Up! Lookand ask about the license to sell that designer. read more

Diane's had a great selection, and made me feel very important while I was there. I love my dress. What I didn't love was Renee, the seamstress. She seemed too "busy" to work with me, and she was very unprofessional, especially for what she was charging. I would take my alterations elsewhere. read more

I would highly suggest passing on Diane's Formal Affair for your special event attire needs. I was stunned at the lack of basic knowledge and professionalism they demonstrated. In the short amount of time I've been involved with wedding preparations, I have learned crucial, key elements of dress purchasing. I'm no expert, but you would imagine someone in business since 1985 would be. I seem to know more than they do. These basics were simply ignored at Diane's and replaced by a greedy, pushy, uncaring attitude. I live in Austin and my Mom lives in Jasper, so I was unable to be there in person to help on the day she went into the store. If I had been there, I would have made sure none of this happened. But, they are the professionals and should have known better. Selling an aqua colored Mother-of-the-Bride dress for a wine and gold wedding? Selling a dress style without having the client try it on their shape? Telling your client, "You don't have TIME to think about it! This dress should have been ordered yesterday!" when client ponders taking time to be sure of the selection. [Wedding is in 7 months.] Ordering approximately 2-3 sizes too large? [Altering that much can completely change the look of a dress.] Measuring client in front of others by the front desk of lobby?! Even getting my Mom's 40 year-old phone number wrong and claiming, "She gave us the wrong number." When I calmly but firmly called them out on all of these important issues, I was portrayed as the bad guy. Jennifer, whom I spoke to by phone, was quick to blame us for our problems and concerns. She said that, "If the consultant had been told the wedding colors, we could have helped more." [My Mom and sister said that they were told multiple times!] She also said, "The dress WAS tried on." [No, it wasn't, because they only had a size 8 in the store and it didn't fit.] The did offer to change the order to a more complementary color, but the fact that it was a mermaid style that hadn't even been tried on made it way too risky. The owner, Diane, whom I also spoke to, was angry and couldn't understand why any of this was a problem. Treated me like I was to blame. But in the end, they lost. Full refund. And we all know word of mouth has more power than any other advertising around. Save your time and money. Find a place that puts your needs first, instead of just wanting to take your money and get you out the door. This should be a pleasant, fun, and exciting part of the wedding experience. I felt that there was way too much unnecessary and easily avoidable stress involved. I wish someone else in Jasper would open a bridal store, so that Diane's would have competition that might make them work a little harder. read more
