It's a fast paced sport with lots of unique rules, so it was wonderful to have the knowledgeable explanations from the team and refs! I've been coming to matches off and on for years and I love that I recently got the opportunity to introduce so many friends to roller derby and, hopefully, make some new fans of the team and sport! Once things get rolling, all the players are bolting by and it's a lot to take it! I definitely needed to watch at least a couple matches before I got the hang of the rules and scoring. It's a hard hitting sport and definitely not for the faint of heart! But it's so fun to watch and I now look forward to the next bout each month! Plus, if you're not ready to go home after, there's always a social, where you can hang out with both teams and chat more about the game. Shout out to the ref Eve for teaching us so much about the sport after the last match! Just trust me and try it out! Matches here are so much fun and I know you'll become a fan in no time!

As for the downside, the whole place kinda smells like a locker room, and as a certified non-athlete myself, that caught me off my guard a bit, but it's not a deal breaker and I'll definitely come back for more roller derby events. Based on the signage inside, it looks like this venue is also home to a kid's hockey league too. The speakers were pretty loud, but the expansive venue made it nearly impossible to understand the announcer for 90% of the event - especially while the game was in play - which is sad because the announcer, in his awesome sequined blazer, looked like a fun guy who'd be exciting to listen to. It also took someone telling me where the scoreboard was, which, for the derby meets, was set up on on a projector screen at the far end of the rink. It's a big place with a lot going on, so I didn't spot it on my own right away. For newish roller derby fans like myself, it's definitely best to check out the rules on the Women's Flat Track Derby Association site so you have an idea of what's going on. I'm glad the roller derby gals have such a sweet venue for their games and I look forward to getting back to this location again!

A great local field complex worth the trip out to Havana!…read more Tallahassee Paintball Sports regularly offers rental and paintball specials, so a group of friends and I decided to try it out one weekend and play paintball for a few hours. With a group of 8, we played a few rounds mixed in with other groups, as well as a few on our own in the back fields. Each field is unique and a lot of fun, but switching fields every few rounds keeps things lively. The forested area for capture the flag was probably my favorite, even if it did give me anxiety getting shot through undergrowth and hunted by the more experienced players. They also offer airsoft rental, so I'm looking forward to trying that out another time. Overall, a great experience for something different on the weekend!

The field has many different layouts from air ball, hyperball, to woods fields. The owner Mark is an awesome old school paintballer and truly loves the sport. The Capital City Classic Girls Flag Football Tournament 2024 was held here, where 30 schools from…read moreall over the state of Florida came in to play on a 2-day part tournament. The school that my daughter plays for and attending was chosen for this Tournament so needless to say, we were very excited to be here. What a massive facility that carries 12+ fields to play in, nice restrooms, and plenty of parking. I was pretty impressed with how well maintained the grass was kept. All in all, the tournament didn't last long as Mother Nature came in and stole the show, dumping lots of rains and thunder, eventually canceling out the whole tournament.

Maybe we just got super lucky with a lot of people carpooling but there were 30 teams participating in the tournament & I didn't notice anyone in overflow parking outside the fenced parking lot. I will say that LEAVING the parking lot took awhile, I think there was only one entrance to drive in/out of the field. TIPS: * Bring folding chairs. The bleacher to field ratio is way off at this sportsplex. There are bleachers but not at all fields. * Bug spray (if you're at the field at dusk & especially if mosquitoes favor your blood type) * Umbrellas are your friend (for shade & rain!) * Reverse park into your space. Saw some vehicles just waiting forever for the chance to reverse out of their spaces. Sucks to be at the mercy of someone giving you space to get out especially when there's so many people leaving the field at the same time.

While it isn't free (students pay $2, public pays $4) it's a great option to get a swim workout in. The facilities include locker rooms, showers, etc. There is a diving tower, diving dryland area, a 25 meter short course pool, and a 50 meter Olympic size pool. I easily found a lane and had a great workout. The facilities are clean and the lifeguards were so friendly. About 30 minutes into my workout we had to evacuate for thunder, and they gave me a rain check to come back for free since my workout was cut short. I will definitely be back often!
