Every year feels like the year I'll start skiing again despite last skiing in childhood. Instead I…read morejust go to après ski events. I always complained that there's really nowhere hyper local to get ski attire whether for actual skiing or after ski. I found just the place during Lakewood Chocolate Walk - Geiger's! AMBIANCE: Standalone store in downtown Lakewood that's apparently been part of the community since 1932 (wow!) For being such a longstanding retail space it's surprisingly modern. It really reminds me of Eddie Bauer's. The store has multiple rooms of outdoor attire. MERCHANDISE: Most of the attire (predominantly women's and children's) looks like chic athletic-ish attire to wear around Lakewood. Faux fur vests are especially soft and high quality. There is an entire room of skiing gear - skis, ski goggles, and sweaters with ski landscapes. There's also a pretty expansive selection of children's attire. You'll find popular brands like Patagonia and Yeti, and also less known brands. Prices are mostly what you'd expect at a high-end department store. SERVICE: The service at the store wasn't too attentive. Employees were a bit awkward with client interactions. Perhaps because it was busy. Check out this store if you are looking for winter attire like coats, chunky sweaters, gloves, and hats. There are plenty of choices here. I'll come back when I have more time to browse the coat inventory.

REI has been around forever, but since the 70s my friends and I have had to order by catalog (and…read morelater online) and wait for gear to arrive. I couldn't have been happier to find the company finally opened a store in the Cleveland area, where there are a lot of places to enjoy nature. The sprawling, modern store has a pretty excellent selection of outdoor clothing, hiking and camping gear, and even a bike shop. If you're in the market for gear, plan on spending a lot of time browsing. I geared-up for a trip to Iceland here and am readying for another adventure in Norway and Sweden, so this will be a shopping trip before I go. I frequent the store for backpacking food, and they have a wonderful selection of it for all three meals as well as snacks. This is a great place to find deals. I got the REI app a few years ago and it will alert you on sale items, which is great because you can purchase in-app and pickup in-store. There is a section near the back of the store where you can great deals on returned or gently used gear. It's kind of like going to a garage sale, but the items I've seen look new and not someone else's trash. Take the time to look through it! The staff have all been quite helpful and cheerful, so I always feel welcome when I visit. I've never had a hassle with returns or exchanges, either. As big as the store is, it feels comfortable to me. I am always eager to find excuses to return!

We needed some help, but there was nobody around. We went to the register, the lady admittedly said she didn't j ow how the Tilly hat adjusted. At $95.00, happy to get it, however, he wasn't quite comfortable with how to adjust it. We went back to loo, at others, I showed him another brand, it seemed easier for him to adjust. It was lighter fabric, covered his ears, and he was comfortable with it. We went to purchase it, the line had one register person and was 6 people deep. They finally called others to check people out. This helped. The store is pricey, no help and long wait at 10:45 am on a Wednesday. It offered no value that I couldn't get online next time. We could've easily ordered a few and returned what we didn't like. I love to support retail brick and mortar, but this experience does not provide a reason with no customer Service and a waste of time! The store was clean. That is a plus. Another plus, getting there at 10 a.m. when they open, parking is reasonable.

Though the place looks huge, it's basically the same thing in every aisle; rows and rows of sweatpants, all nearly identical except for in maybe 4 different colors; then polyester shorts, then tank tops, then polyester tshirts, then polyester sweatshirts. I couldn't find anything that was 100% cotton. They didn't have a great selection of shoes. 3. The lock on the right-most fitting room door seems to work (to the person locking the door) but actually doesn't, and the employees rather seem to enjoy hearing a cry and a 'What the fuck?' every few minutes. 4. The employees stink of cheap perfume. And cannot answer simple questions, like 'where are the men's lightweight nylon running jackets?' And do not acknowledge waiting customers and open another register as soon as they see they should. 5. The bathrooms were disgusting and all out of order except one, which looked to have actual excrement on the floor on the metal drain between stalls. 6. It's expensive. Despite the poor quality of clothing, it is 'brand name' clothing, so still $29 or $43, (even $108,) for most things I picked up.
