Since my attempt at competitive bids fell flat, I told Ronnie to do the job. They called me a day or two later to schedule a time. They showed up as promised late in the afternoon and dug right in. They had a team of 6-8 guys who seemed to work really well together. One or two were high in the trees; a couple more were at the chipper; one on the bobcat; a chorus of two or three chainsaws accompanied all the activity. The biggest oak tree was leaning the wrong way, so they had to pull it with the bobcat And the chipper truck. The boss man attacked the tree with a saw, pausing to direct the pulling as he went. The tree fell right where he wanted it. Daylight was running out, so they left one of the four trees to cut another day. Two days later it was gone, and the yard cleaned up nicely. How shall I describe these tree climbing and cutting geniuses? Their skills and talents are beyond…read morewords. Their work is like a ballet, only way up high in the trees. No tutus involved. OK, enough of the flowery stuff. There are four members in the crew, and each is skilled in a particular aspect of the field of cutting down trees. I've seen a lot of tree crews, and these guys are top notch. They showed up on time, I had to get the utility company to do a power drop, and then the members swiftly got to work, dropping the trees that could be a problem for my power line first. By noon, those trees were gone, and I called up the power company to say they could reconnect the power, which they did at about 1 PM. (Hidden praise for Walton EMC buried in here. Based on past experience, I wouldn't begin to expect the same level of service from the power company that has the word 'Georgia' in their name. YMMV.) I was so pleased I paid them a bit extra and gave the crew some of my stash of hash. No, that's not quite right. Fudge. Yes, that's it! Fudge, that I had purchased the day before in St. Augustine. I had a total of four trees taken down and absolutely everything was to my satisfaction, a thing that is quite rare these days. There are 3 pictures attached below.
