I had been putting off a colonoscopy for about a decade. I didn't realize the age had been lowered to 45 for your first baseline procedure. I thought it was a rite of passage at 50 years old. Even then, I skipped the procedure because the Covid lockdown was in full effect and all anyone ever talks about is the horrible preparation for the procedure. I opted for the poop-in-a-box instead of the real deal. After the Covid lockdown was lifted, it became impossible to ignore this. Plus, since I wasn't working, I actually had time to deal with the preparation. The administrator that handled my case was very professional, empathetic, but also very persistent. She was not going to let me back out, and frankly I needed this dedicated individual to answer my questions and keep me on target to completion. She was available to answer my questions, no matter how ridiculous or improbable or mundane they might of seemed. Generally she didn't answer the phone, but she was always good about calling me back and giving me the time and attention I needed. The procedure only happens on Mondays and Thursdays. I had to book several weeks in advance. When I got Covid and wanted to cancel, she wouldn't let me. When I told her my fears about the preparation solution, she offered me tablets instead of the unusual tasting liquid. When I had trouble getting the prescription tablets filled at my pharmacy, she rerouted my prescription to a pharmacy that was able to fulfill my request and mail them to me. When I shared my fears about being on a low fiber diet in the days leading up to the procedure, she calmly offered suggestions and helped me come up with a working meal plan. I never did meet this woman, but she is the only reason I was able to get through this procedure successfully. The clinic staff are separate from the administrative people, so you will have to fill out forms again while you wait in the lobby. Once your name is called, the people in the procedure area are all old hats at this. They will go through everything at lightening speed. In fact, since I was without food, water, and sleep, I couldn't think clearly, and consequently, I had trouble understanding them when they spoke so quickly. If there was one thing I would change, it would be asking the staff to slow down just a little. Also, share the medical history from the administrative forms I previously filled out with the procedure staff so that I don't have to do it from memory in a tired and unfueled state. Other than that, everyone was very kind and professional. Despite my fears, they took good care of me. The final report was provided that answered all of my questions. The doctor and nurse did talk to me after the procedure to let me know how everything went, but when you are coming out of anesthesia, it is hard to remember the details. The report had colored pictures of my colon. It was well diagrammed so that you could identify the different internal parts. This report was also sent digitally through the secure portal with the final notes and biopsy results. Depending on your insurance, there may be separate costs for facility charges, anesthesia, and any special tasks that are performed during the procedure, like removing polyps. Because of this, it might be hard to get an exact cost up front. Afterwards, you might be receiving multiple bills from different entities. I hate this! It really should be coordinated and provided to the patient on one bill to rule them all, but such is the status of healthcare in America. Thankfully I don't have to return for a decade. Hopefully in that time, the medical profession will find new ways to screen for colorectal cancers that aren't so invasive or anxiety producing. If not, well, I would certainly trust this establishment with my care again. read more

I can't say enough about the great experience I had at digestive health center. The process went so smoothly and every one of the staff that I encountered was caring and comforting. Going in for a procedure can be nerve wracking but DHC made me feel reassured from the moment I arrived. They function like a well oiled machine. There was not an excessive wait and the team members worked efficiently to keep everyone on schedule. I had several nurses from admission to discharge and while I cannot remember everyone's name, they were all amazing. My anesthesia provider, Ike, was also fantastic and put me at ease. I can whole heartedly say that as a nurse and hospital quality executive, I have a high bar and DHC raised it. Would definitely return to receive any kind of GI procedure in the future. read more

Doctor told me it was time to schedule my first colonoscopy, something I had been dreading for a while the closer I am getting to 50. This being my first I can not believe how personable and comforting everyone at DHC-Plano was. All the pre-op communication was clear and timely. They even called to ask if I wanted to opt for an earlier a lot the day before, very considerate. Hello, I just wanted to report that I had the most Awful Experience simply trying to schedule an appoint with my doctor, Doctor Candice Jantz today 01/06/2025. I am a very pleasant person to speak with but when I called to set up an appointment with Dr. Jantz and spoke to Alice she was so rude and condescending that it brought out the worst in me. Although I was being treated and talked to so awfully, I to continue to maintain a professional attitude, more so than that of the scheduler I was speaking to name Alice. So, to explain, when I called to set up an appointment with Dr. Jantz the first thing I hear coming from Alice, the scheduler's voice was sounds of disbelief and astonishment with a very insulting tone and insinuation of my cancelling or breaking appoints so many appointments. This really shocked me so I advised her my cancelled previous appointments has nothing to do with why I was calling and should not have even been brought up. She made it seem as if I had done something so awful when all I was trying to do was make an appointment with Dr. Jantz. I went on to explain to Alice her behavior was no cause for and if anything, just allow me to create an appointment. Her terrible behavior caused an unsettling trigger within myself to the point I became teary eyed. Then when she advised me Dr. Jantz did not have any appoints available until 02/11/2025 I felt as if she was trying to be difficult with me, so I asked to speak with someone else. Today is 01/06/2025 but I was told there were no availability for over a month. Julie Tekler came on the line and made the same exact shamming tone and sigh before making the same exact insulting statement that Alice had previously made, at which I became very upset about it and explained to Julie I did not think it was fair for me to be mistreated that way and Julie stated, what do you mean you are upset because I advise you of the truth of the many cancelled appointments you have. She made her statement in the most disrespectful condescending way and when I asked for the previous young lady's name I spoke with, she stated ALLLIIIICE, did you need me to spell that for you. As I was trying to explain to her that is no way to treat a patriot especially when you have no idea what that person is going thru she was over talking me at the same time telling me I was rude and disrespectful and all I could think to say was that I was going to let everyone who would be willing to listen, know how I was treated today including Dr. Janz, the Better Business Bureau and Yelp before she hung up in my face. What neither of the two ladies knew, is that I do suffer from PTSD from a deep-rooted childhood trauma, so this is another awful experience that I must add to my long list of mental disparities. I also lost my last living parent, my mother, on July 14th, 2024, so I have been very forgetful but not on purpose. This phone call has unsettled me to the point I never want to call in to make appoints at any other medical institution. Digestive Health Center of Plano billed my husband's ROUTINE COLONOSCOPY incorrectly, using wrong billing code. After several attempts by me and my husband and Blue Cross Blue Shield. We went ahead and paid the bill to stop the incessant emails. They billed this differently than the doctor and anesthesiologist billed causing us to have to pay $189.80. Never recommend this facility and if it means not using our favorite doctor then we may have to find a new doctor. They just needed to make a simple phone call or send an email to the doctor to clarify the correct billing code and they were too lazy to do this, or couldn't bother. Horrible service! read more

4-2022 Great people and wonderful facility. My first colonoscopy was scheduled at this location. 2 days before my appointment I received a welcome text message. Then another text regarding insurance/payment questions that included the phone number for the billing office (855-341-7113). When it comes to medical procedures I like to know in advance that the facility is in network. I called the billing office and was able to get a person on the phone less than 5 minutes. The morning before the procedure another text came through with covid policies (mask requirement in place) and questions regarding covid exposure. The last text provided information about when to arrive, and what to bring with you, reminder that an adult driver must be with you to take you home. No ride shares or taxi. On the day I was there one person was allowed in the facility with the patient. Procedure day, check in was quick, some paperwork to sign, ID and Insurance card copied. They have you write down the name and phone number of the person who will be taking you home. I was called back in less than 10 minutes of walking in. I left most of my items with my partner, he had to stay in the waiting room for the first part. He was allowed to come back once I was in recovery area. Candy took me back and right from the start it was a pleasant experience. The flow of every step was timed perfectly. Excellent bedside manner by everyone. I checked in at 9:30 and they said their day starts at 6:15. Even still, everyone was so genuine friendly, patient and kind. Candy started taking my vitals and Becky came in to assist. Becky went over the medical history while Candy started the IV. They were a great team and the IV insertion was so quick and virtually un-noticed. Candy put me at ease telling me there was not a needle in my hand so I could move my hand around, also made sure I was comfortable and warm enough. Becky was a sweetheart she had me all hooked up to the monitors and then helped me unhook from the monitors so I could go to the restroom, she walked me down the hall and carried the IV bag for me. I apologized for the inconvenience and she put me at ease, so kind and understanding. Paul came in next to go over the anesthesia and consent forms. He explained the anesthesia, how it works and what to expect. He let me know his associate Carolyn would be the one in my procedure. He patiently answered my questions and kept engaged in conversation. I never realized that the anesthesia part was optional, didn't even think about it really. For myself, I can't imagine having any procedure without sedation. Although every one has their reasons and tolerance for pain management. Carolyn tagged in next and she is the one who wheeled me back to the procedure room where Brenda was waiting. The three of us had a few minutes talking, just casual conversation before the procedure, the kind nature of both definitely calmed my anxious nerves and lowered my BP. Everyone made sure I was comfortable at each step. Dr. Jantz came in went over the procedure, answered my questions and before I knew it Carolyn did her thing and that's all I remember. It was great. Woke up in the recovery area, Dr. Jantz came in first and went over the findings, then Kirby came in to check on me. My partner was next to join the party. They called him when I was in recovery to inform him where to park and that he could come back to recovery area. Dr. Jantz came back in again went over some more information and answered our questions (my partner asks a lot of questions) and she answered all. I can't express how much I appreciate everyone at this facility. It's run so smoothly, and I recommend with highest regard. I hope you have the pleasure of having a procedure scheduled here. Some of the nurses had a clever phrase on the back of their tops, English teachers would love it. I was still coming off the anesthesia but I thought it was cute. It said Check your : In case your doctors office is like mine, my paperwork had the previous name, this location was Formerly named Preston Crossing Endoscopy. It is now Digestive Health Center of Plano. Okay PSA Time: Everyone should have a colonoscopy, the recommend age keeps dropping, 45 is the new 50. I had to get a routine colonoscopy and everyone from the front desk to the nurses could have not have been more friendlier and able to put your mind at ease. I was very impressed also with the comfort level, they gave me two blankets to keep me warm while I was waiting to be wheeled in for my procedure. The business office staff is detached and uncaring in my experience. No eye contact, no professionalism, on par with airline baggage service on a bad day. Mouse trap with "Customer Complaints Press Here" proudly mounted directly behind the front desk, which tells you how they view their customers. I received a bill from them, which purported I could pay online--NOPE. I input the account number from the statement and my birth date as required, and got an error message. Had a colonoscopy once you turn 50 , my doctor recommended I get one done! The prep I did not cate for but overall the staff, doctors and nurses were great! I saw Dr Kumaravel she was nice and walk me through the process... I probably was there less than 3 hours you go to a recovery area. I asked him "to make sure I'm completely OUT, cause I was worried about any pain. (which I never had, during or after the procedure. None whatsoever, even after taking out two polyps, I never even knew I had.) I was also worried about the Propofol.... He took the time to lean over and talk to me: "Don't you worry. Excellent. From start to finish. My second G.I. related procedure. The front desk staff are courteous and efficient. That carries through to medical support staff and tops off with Dr. Duraiswamy. She is calming. A clear communicator. And in my observation, highly competent. I am grateful to have found a Gastroenterologist who i am comfortable with. I should mention that the anesthesiologist called everything correctly as i was sedated completely. But recovered quickly. I have already provided DHCP info to some friends. read more

While the facility is ok, you should be real careful about asking the right questions about charges. Twice I've been told about estimated charges and insurance coverage only to be hit with a "facility charge" at the time of service that was not disclosed. Staff needs to do a better job of communicating charges so that patients can be prepared prior to their procedure. read more

Extremely pleased with the entire experience I had at Preston Crossing Endoscopy Center for my endoscopy and colonoscopy. Being my first time I have to admit that I was a bit fearful of these procedures based on how invasive they seem to be. The check-in process was seamless. The staff were very welcoming and thorough. I was being wheeled in to meet with my doctor in the procedure room after only 10-15 minutes of prep with the nurses. Mike, the RN in charge of my anesthesia, plugged me in and I was under before I knew it. 45 minutes later I was being gently wakened by Brandy who was offering me a juice box. 5 minutes later I had my clothes back on and was heading out the door to go enjoy a nice lunch with my wife after not eating for the last 36 hours. The general anesthesia wore off shortly thereafter and I was knocking some items off my list at home. No pain. Didn't feel any after effects from the procedure at all. The worst part was really the prep that is required the day before, but even that wasn't too bad. Not eating for the entire day before was probably the hardest part. The attentive and well trained staff really was supportive throughout my time there. Wouldn't hesitate to go back to Preston Center Crossing Endoscopy Center ten years from now when I have to go through this again. Thank you! read more
