I've been a patient at Internal Medicine Associates since September 2025, and overall, the medical care has been top-tier. The Pros: Dr. Bishop is phenomenal. Finding a doctor who actually takes the time to understand how a specific medication will mesh with your lifestyle and body is rare. She's incredibly thorough and has been very accessible via the patient portal whenever I had follow-up questions. The nursing staff also deserves a shout-out. They are wonderful and very understanding. During my last visit, one of the nurses gave me some great, practical tips for managing my allergies, even sharing what works for her own kids, which I really appreciated. The Cons: My initial experience was a total nightmare due to insurance hurdles. While that isn't the fault of the practice itself (third-party insurance is the absolute worst), it definitely made the start of my journey here rocky. More recently, they've implemented a new sign-in sheet process. Since this was a change from previous visits, I mistakenly thought it was only for new patients. When the front desk clerk asked me to sign in, she responded with a confused look and a bit of a rude tone. It was a minor friction point, but a little more patience for returning patients adjusting to the new workflow would go a long way! read more

Unprofessional office. I have problems every time I have an appointment. I'm charged incorrectly every time. The same amount. And it always takes 5 people to figure it out. And u have standard insurance. They don't answer their phone, it's hard to reach them, they don't get back to you in a timely fashion, they use over seas support who is often clueless, the parking is terrible, people are rude, it's unfortunate because the doctor is great but she's leaving. read more

I came in today for my first visit, expecting lab work only. I signed the sign-in sheet, sat down, and waited about 20 minutes before receiving a text saying my appointments were canceled. I went to the front desk to ask why, and the woman there told me I "missed" my appointment. All she had to do was look at the sign-in sheet to see I was already there. She then said I should have checked in with her directly, even though she was busy with another patient when I arrived. I didn't want to stand there listening to someone else's medical information, so I signed in and sat down. When I asked what the sign-in sheet was for, she couldn't answer. There were only four people in the waiting room and she was the only staff member up front, yet instead of checking the sign-in sheet and calling patients, she sat behind her computer and canceled my appointment. When I pushed back, she suggested I drive to the Richardson location--15 minutes farther--after I had already driven 25 minutes from Dallas to Plano. I chose Plano because it was closer. Why would I drive even farther just to establish care? And when I asked if I could do labs or the first visit in Richardson and then come back to Plano for follow-ups, she said no, "they don't swap like that." She never apologized and kept making excuses, including blaming the person who booked my appointment for not explaining things to me correctly. There is no sign instructing patients to check in at the desk--only a sign-in sheet. So what's the point of having one if it's ignored? My appointment has been rescheduled for next week, and I'm giving this place one more chance solely because the doctors' reviews were promising. I will update this review if my experience improves, but at this point, the first impression has been disappointing and unprofessional. read more

Last year July 2025, I visited my Family Doctor (Luke Sorrell) for my annual physical check up. The front desk told that no co-pay for annual physical check up and this was also stated in my insurance policy as well. A few months later, they asked me to pay $20 co-pay and I contacted my health insurance and knew that they used the wrong claim code. I told them many times to use the correct code but they insisted asking me to pay copay. I have been seeing Dr. Mitchell Sorsby for the past 11 years, so naturally, after he relocated to this practice, I followed him for continuation of care. He is a brilliant Physician with a professional work ethic. He has been pro-active with my care and is well aware of my medical and T2N1 papillary thyroid cancer history. He takes the time to call me with Lab results, discuss them in detail along with any questions or concerns, and then posts them on the Patient Portal for me to view. I am one of his Concierge patients and it truly sets my mind and heart at ease when a Provider takes the time to speak with you in a manner which you feel valuable and cared for. Everyone I encountered on this visit at the front desk, check-out, and lab was helpful, attentive, and friendly. I already have my 6 month follow-up lab appointment and office visit scheduled. He had studied my profile I filled out on line and he knew exactly what was wrong with me amongst other things that needed attention. He really, really cares about his patients. I loved the doctor but their billing dept is awful!! My health insurance paid for everything - it was a sleep study - and now I'm really struggling to get a refund back (I was charged when I picked up the equipment to do the study). It's been longer than 2 months and still no refund check. Oh, BTW, it's a check, they're not set up to refund your credit card. Stay away from this place.​ read more

Dr, Melissa Philip was amazing, articuate, slow to speak to spend time answering all my questions. She exceeded my every expectation in a caring and trusted physician. I would highly recommend this group of docs in Internal Medicine for any young adult to aging Medicare patient. I called their office to see if Dr. Dunigan was accepting new patients and was told yes. So I got my insurance to switch my PCP to Dr. Dunigan. I called the following week to schedule an appointment and was told she was not accepting new patients. I then requested a call back from the office manager. Two days leter I called again and left a message for the office manager to return my call. It has been three days now and no call back from the manager. read more

I understand that a practice is a business, but this practice is all business. Patient care does not seem to be a priority. I have managed a medical practice and can see the red flags. I will say the girl who checked me out today was super kind. But the person that schedules for plano and the office manager- all business. No people skills. Will not be going back. The appointment went fine until she decided that adding my cell phone number to my chart was needed. Didn't really bother to ask, just requested my number until I gave it to her and then I put it in. Having since dealt with this issue I am still quite unhappy about it. Then I go on only to find out it was re-added again, not thrilling at all. Dr. Arash Tirandaz & Laura Harger, PA are FIVE STAR health care providers. I have found no one better in the metroplex and I am a healthcare provider myself. Communicating with them in person & through the Healow Patient Portal is efficient, helpful & timely. Truly, 5 star. However, that being stated, the office staff/management would really benefit from a healthy re-boot. Calling the office FOUR days in a row & leaving messages re: a medical issue &/or prescription need on the nurse line without a helpful response could be medically detrimental for a person. It seems like there is a significant dis-connect between the patient care provided by the medical staff & the care of the office staff including the office manager. I hope the situation improves. read more

Horrible EXPERIENCE!!!!! I would never recommend Sima Kavand MD or Swetha Kadali to anyone if you care about your health and services. They do not take care of the patients!! They and their staff does not treat the patients with care. $50 no shows and co pays are more important than your actual visit. My health concerns were not met with knowledge and seriousness of care. My appointment was for an annual/ Pap smear plus discussion of weight loss , for my physical she just went over some of my blood work and the Pap smear was not attempted or completed I was referred to an OBGYN to complete because I have PCOS. The entire appointment was rushed!!!! I also unfortunately have an ear infection-the lack care from my previous appointment where I was told it was just allergies to now having throbbing, burning and pain, Kavand shoved ear tool down my ear canal and then proceeded to press down with her thumb to confirm what I already told her prior to touching me I AM IN EXCRUCIATING PAIN! Rude staff and rude doctors. Lastly after my appointment I had to wait until the dr who saw came back from lunch to approve the prescriptions she supposedly sent off just so I can get a copy of my prescription for myself. I could say much more but this is enough to inform of what kind of office and services you will be getting. read more

I cannot believe all the BS I have gone through after 3 years with Dr.Crawford.You overbook so bad your patients have to wait 1 hr to see you is ridiculous how about I charge you for my time. Clearly the last year it is about the money. And sadly I have to say this. I genuinely think she does care. I gave this office 3 chances and I am out.I asked for my medical records on the 10/13/2022 and nothing faxed again a week later. Called and asked for a manager to call me 2 x nothing.I found a new pcp and my appt was 10/24/22 no records no nothing.My advice to you is to RUN as a medical professional myself,I would never do this to my patients. read more

Called as a new patient, had trouble even getting an answer or call back for days. I finally got one back, the girl took my medical info and insurance (which is a major carrier and PPO) said I could be contacted by someone to schedule an appointment within 24 hours, I never got a call. Tried calling and leaving voicemails 3-4 more times never could get through. Clearly this practice does not need the business or new patients nor do they care to communicate this to anyone. I would highly recommend to avoid this practice. Altogether I called this place over 10 times, just imagine what it would be like making an appointment or trying to get test results. read more

Dr. Crawford is absolutely the best GP in the area. I can't thank her enough for her 1) advice, 2) knowledge, and 3) kindness. I am so thankful to her, and even consider her my "second mom." She is kind, yet honest. She recommended a neurosurgeon to fix my back issues, and he did an excellent job -- 6 years later, and I am so happy with the results! I've been a patient of Dr. Dunagin for probably about 5 years now and love her! She is always so sweet and listens to all my concerns. I can tell that she really cares about me as a person. I can message her on their portal if I have questions or need a prescription refill, and always get a response within the same day. It's a large office group so sometimes check in gets a little crowded, but the staff and nurses are quick and professional. read more

I've been a patient of Dr Tirandaz forever - since before he started this practice. 20 years? Something like that. Office staff is great, superbly organized. PAs are great (and are much easier to get an appt with than Dr T). And Dr Tirandaz himself is just wonderful. Thorough, patient, clear in his instructions, asks tons of questions, and you're never rushed out. One note: If you make an afternoon appt, you may be waiting a bit for the doctor to see you. Dr Tirandaz has always taken whatever time I've needed to answer questions and do a thorough exam. As a result, he often gets behind. Morning appts are much more likely to be on time, in my experience. read more

Terrible experience. I have called multiple times leaving voicemails with no returned call. Someone finally answered the phone today when I called and was very very very unprofessional. Doctor was never able to answer anything I had. Wait times were awful! Overall horrible experience and do not recommend. I switched doctors immediately. Don't settle for this place. First - I'm giving a 1 star because there's not a 0 rating. If you plan on using this practice as your primary care be aware that parking is TERRIBLE! you will have to arrive at the very least 1/2 hour early just to drive around to find a parking place. Second - I have been using this practice nearly 2 years (Dr. Rachel Dunagin.) Every time I have had an appointment the wait has been 30 minutes or more. The Dr. has cancelled appointments 3 times within the last 8 months, of which they tried to charge me for stating I did not show up! I might add here that I am a medical provider as well - my time is as important as any other doctor that I must use within my own insurance network. All 3 cancellations were short notice of which I had taken time out of my own schedule of seeing patients. Three - the collection manager is out right rude and if the Dr was in any way the culprit behind the decision on this date of my last exam, she too is trifling. On my last visit, instead of seeing the doctor I was seen by the office collection manager in the exam room. As she came in and sat down she did not introduce herself and I had to ask who she was - she stated, not her name, but rather that I had a balance due from missed visits. I stated that I was not paying for Dr. Dunagin's cancellations. She stated that Dr. Dunagin was on staff on dates I was scheduled - I clearly told her those dates she looked up were dates that Dr. Dunagin had rescheduled for her own cancellations and were not agreeable to me via an automated computer phone system. I reiterated that I had called rescheduled different times and was present for those office visits. At that she walked out of the room and came back in 5 minutes later stating that I was 6 minute late to my current appointment and could reschedule for a later time that day, but Dr. Dunagin would not see me at this time - not to mention that I had already waited 35 minutes passed the time of arrival. Any Dr. allows 15 mins arrival time, but this was clearly out of retaliation. I told to her to tell Dr. Dunagin (who by the way knows, I too, am a Dr.) that due to her previous cancellations I missed patients and should bill her for me missing time seeing my own patients! I am now looking for another primary car physician - get this - OVER $75 (25.00 co pays x 3 - of their own cancelled appointments.) They won't even renew my high blood pressure medicine. I might add I am making a formal complaint. Dismissal of patient care has protocols - of which this practice has violated. I am appalled that practicing medicine has come to this for some physicians. read more

So my fiance went in here on Wednesday with neck pain and extreme scalp pain. They referred us to see a chircopracter which we did. None of this helped his pain. I've been attending Dr. Brown since I moved here 9 years ago. Tried only one other Doctor and wasn't happy witj. She is no pill pusher. Very concern about each of her patients. Please stay far from this clinic! They are all about money. I had a co-payment issue where they was suppose to bill me but they never sent it to my address instead they sent it to an address from 6 years ago which cause me not to received anything . Went into the office to dispute and resolve bc i had rec a collections notice 2 days after they realize there mistake an even though letter head clear had old adress on it. They showed know compassion in correcting it but sent me a CERTIFIED letter trying to collect a 50 dollar late fee on a 25.00 copay in which Dr. Chandra Brown signed it personally after she lied about calling me back. Some concern for her patients huh! All she cares about is her lifestyle and high paid salary. I would never ruin A1 credit on 25 copay. This place is pure evil! Serious issues! read more

I love everything about this practice. From the friendly staff to the brilliant physicians and PAs. All of the providers go above and beyond to get to know the individual patient and spend more time with you than any other physician I have seen in the past. I love that they make it easy to get prompt refills for medications and ask my physician questions via their online portal. They are genuine and honest and care about my health and well-being. They are always aware of what we discussed in the last visit we had and follow up on previous issues. Not only is the medical care personalized, but my physician always remembers personal discussions we had, which always confirms he is a good listener. I never feel rushed and I never leave without having all of my questions addressed. I am thankful that they always take the time to educate me on my health in layman terms. I just met Dr. Shah for the first time and I love her already. very friendly and great personality! Totally made me feel at ease and listened to my concerns. She actually wrote down suggestions for me instead of me having to remember, which we all know we forget when we leave. So Dr. Shah writing it down for me was fantastic. I've been a patient of Dr. Mary Hammack's at IMA for several years and regardless of how long it takes waiting, I know that once she comes in the room, I have her full attention for as long as I need it. It's not necessarily how long I keep her, but it's how thorough she is. Never have I found a doctor so interested in her patients health. She leaves no stone unturned in finding out about my issues and ways to resolve them. I might add that using the patient portal has been such a Godsend to our family. She will respond any time of day or night....unbelievable! I can not say enough about this doctor's office. I can honestly say after a barrage of horrible experiences at other offices, I can say I wasn't super optimistic. They drowned all my fears with their warm smiles and welcoming attitudes. I have never seen so many people so sincerely and genuinely happy. This was just the front desk. My doctor was amazing. She answered all my questions and even gave me further suggestions and recommendations on how to further help me out. I was blown away that she treated me like a person and not just another number in her parade of patients. I didn't feel rushed or like a bother. She even joked with me. I absolutely love this office. Even when I was unable to see my doctor, there was always some accommodation made to make sure I could be seen. All of the doctors here are truly amazing and if you want to feel like some one cares, THIS is the place. They are knowledgeable, caring, considerate and friendly as all get out. I have mixed feelings about this office. 1) the Turnover rate is really high every week there is someone new at the front Desk. 2) The Medical Assistance are rude and uneducated and there is always always a new MA. I took My Mother to this office which I thought was really good its took me two tries when calling in to schedule an appointment, I was on hold for 20 mins and then called from my cell phone and put on hold and waited for about 10 Minutes. after all of that i got seen and The MA that was seeing me was Alexis ( I think thats her name) Boy she was so rude and disrespectful she never took her eyes off the computer, she never made eye contact with me. After my visit I wanted to speak with the office manager I Waited at the check out desk and the african American Girl there was so sweet, and helpful I dont know her name she did not introduce her self and nor does this office wear name tags. but she went to get the manger who told her to tell me she was in a meeting i said ok and I called back the next day to follow up and The manager is always in a meeting and if everyone was like alexis then I see why she is in a meeting all the time. I like Dr Mbah even though to me she was a little fast in and out. I have seen better this place is a mess the few times i have been there.
