This shop is all right, and they do seem to stock a fair variety of items. They even had a big flat screen TV so they must not be entirely behind the times.

It is easy to find items within the store, but if you have problems there is always a member of staff around that will be happy to help. If you need any information then the staff at the tills are happy to look it up for you and they are very helpful and friendly. All the items on sale are competitively priced and there are often offers on such as 3 dvd's for £20 or 2 t-shirts for £20. The opening hours are excellent, being open till 9pm during the week. I have found this to be an excellent place when looking for a last minute present for someone. The parking in New Mersey Retail Park is excellent and there is always a free space to be found. Things you had absolutely no idea you needed until you realised that you didn't have them, or at least until you realised they actually existed. That the place manages to keep going while so many ventures in the high-rent Formby business lots go belly up is testament to how much people actually like junk like this. It's all pretty cheap and cheery in here but don't be surprised if some of the stuff begins to wither and rot, particularly if left out in the British summertime for any length - even the stuff that is technically supposed to be used outside. They do stock some decent blank black-and-white photo cards which always come in handy. Really though, who is still buying beaded curtains?

I recently visited Germany and went in a shop there that reminded me of here. It sold everything from Walkmans (yes, the original ones) to garden ornaments and it is this type of bizarre bric-a-brac that Gifts in House (it'll always just be a Poundland to me) specialises in, although not so much in the electrical equipment department. Many a bargain can be found here (it's very cheap) but when you leave with a bagful of goodies you'll be asking yourself if you actually need any of it or you just bought it because it was there and it was shiny. A good place to go if you're looking for some kind of bizarre joke birthday present as well I'd imagine.

When inside I realised that exterior decor did justice to the smart interior and that this place was clearly a very professionally run establishment. There was no shortage of products within this establishment and the prices proved to be very reasonable indeed and all of this made for a successful mixture in my eyes. The people in charge of the establishment were helpful and unlike a lot of modern day shopkeepers they took the time out to actually interact with their customers and this impressed me a great deal it has to be said. It is great to see a place as simple as a newsagent being run with such care , so well done to the people here and I hope there brand of business spreads to the rest of Kensington and Liverpool in general.
