I used to shop at this Dillard's many years ago and loved it. Recently, I noticed a weird store-wide odor but nonetheless bought a shirt I was crazy about...until I tried it on at home and discovered the "stank" was IN the shirt, triggering my asthma badly, and giving me a rash. Same as another Yelp poster, I tried everything I could think of to get the smell out--soaking, vinegar, Borax, even dish soap--and washed it over and over but nothing worked. I had to get rid of the shirt. Then the other day I bought underwear there, and had exactly the same reaction. I finally realized this chemical smell is IN EVERYTHING in the store. DILLARD'S is horrible!! They have horrible policies, horrible management, and they do not value their customers. They literally steal from their customers! I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN AND I HOPE YOU WON'T EITHER! I purchased a formal dress from a clearance rack. It looked good under the dim lighting in the store. A few weeks later when I tried it on at home I could see stains all over the entire dress, so bad that it could not be worn. They absolutely refused to give me a refund or exchange stating that they have a 3- day return policy on clearance items, even though their website states that those return limitations do not apply to merchandise that is damaged. The store manager in Colorado Springs is mean. She accused me of putting the tags back on the dress in the wrong location as if I would have damaged it myself and then returned it. She and her associates ganged up on me and were threatening me, who was the customer! I'm a grandmother and it was a bit scary to me. Why does society not speak up these days, but instead continue to support businesses like that, as if the customer is bad for asking for a refund or complaining about a product they paid money for that they can't use because it's damaged or defective; like it's just ok to be taken advantage of! I had other issues with them not honoring returns in the past but didn't learn my lesson until now. If my review isn't convincing enough just read other reviews on Dillard's. There's good reason why they only have a 1.3 rating. read more

The Dillards in Colorado Springs smells SOOO bad; it practically punches you in the face as you walk in. I bought two items even though I was concerned about the putrid, moldy odor throughout the department store. I took the tags off to wash them tonight. I have now washed these items FIVE times!!! Once in regular detergent. Another time in Borax. Another in vinegar. Another in baking soda. Once more, in regular detergent. If they still smell God awful, I'll be asking for my money back! It's one store where I have been finding quality clothes and shoes, but the whole store reeks of an offensive chemical odor, especially women's clothes . I came home with stuffed sinuses, sore throat and bloody nose. So far I've washed the jeans I bought three times and the my still reek, and I might have to return a dress I bought for a wedding because of the smell. My first time at this specific Dillards location and I found some amazing buys this weekend. I found Natasha brand fashion earrings for over half off original price! 3 pairs of large glitzy earrings for under $30! Then at the ladies department, I found 2 beautiful tops both under $20 and a pair of shiny hot pink leather high heel boots for $45 originally over $150! You seriously can not go wrong with that! Then I found some amazing deals for my husband! 2 tees for under $9 each, 1 pair Levis $17 and Cremiux long sleeved paisley dress shirt for $20! Wow! I was blown away at such great deals and there was so much more to look through that if I had more time I would've bought way more! And the staff that served me was friendly and helpful and that just made my shopping experience that much more pleasant! Thanks Dillards for making me and my spring wardrobe very happy!! read more

Terrible return policy. Received 2 items that didn't fit as a gift. Tried to return with the receipt and tags attached only to learn all sales are FINAL after 30 days. What a joke?!? Nevermind they still had stock in both items and wouldn't even switch sizes. Dillard's is the reason people are not shopping brick and mortar anymore. I had to walk around for 10 mins before I found an associate who would even acknowledge me, only to learn that I was stuck with 2 items that didn't fit. I used to go to Dillard's at the Citadel fairly often, but it closed and became a Dillard's Outlet with a much smaller store. Getting to Chapel Hills is a bit of a drive, so I get there once or twice a year now, usually getting my stuff at Kohl's. I needed several pairs of shorts, and Kohl's doesn't carry my waist size--35. I don't know why they skip this size, 34 is way too tight and 36 simply fall off of me. I quickly found three pairs at Dillard's that fit well, same brand as the ones that fit well and I got at Dillard's two years ago. Dillard's also carries Ecco shoes, which are comfortable from day one. I took one star away because store seems to be under-staffed, I pretty much had to help myself and then look for a clerk to ring up the sale. read more

I absolutely adore Joshua in the MAC makeup department. He is so knowledgeable, and helped me to pick out a great moisturizing lipstick as well as advised me about filling in my sparse eyebrows. He also discussed the importance of primer and recommended eye shadow that would not age me. I appreciated his kindness and expertise. He is a definite asset to MAC cosmetics as well as Dillards in general. read more

We shop here often and have always been satisfied with our experiences at this location. I especially like the perfume and cosmetics selection, and that's often what I'm looking for when I'm here. This is where I come for shoes, accessories, clothing, men's cologne, nice shoes for my teen boys, clothes for my teen boys and young-adult son, housewares, etc. We need physical stores where we can try on clothes and buy things that we need quickly or don't want to pay shipping for. My four kids and I went shopping at this Dillard's in Chapel Hills Mall. I am a newly single father and was granted 50/50 custody. The judge ordered that I have clothes for the kids at my apartment so they do not have to take a suitcase back and forth. We went to the children's section and we were immediately greeted by Carole. I told her we were looking for church clothes for the kids and I preferred clothes on clearance. Carole took extra special care of us helping us pick out clothes for the kids. They each walked away with a few new outfits that were all on clearance. My daughter said she felt like royalty with the way we were taken care of and treated like we were special. My son even complimented the customer service as "something you o it ever see on TV". I shared with Carole our situation, and she was so kind and loving towards my children and me! I am absolutely grateful to Carole for going above and beyond and making the shopping experience so enjoyable for all of us - even this dad who was nervous about buying new wardrobes for four kids. I just had to share my experience this weekend at Dillard's (at chapel hills mall), in the ladies formal dress department. I spent many hours on Saturday AND Sunday looking for a dress for my son's wedding. The sales associate, Colleen, immediately came over to me asking if she can get me a dressing room and even found more dresses for me to try on based on what I said I wanted. I put one on hold and came back today to try it on again- along with many others. Colleen was there again and was able to somehow juggle helping me and giving great feedback as I tried them on, while assisting others too. She was personable, friendly, and went the extra mile to help me out. I've shopped at a lot of other stores recently and never had such stellar customer service as I did with Colleen. I just wanted to share this experience, as many times it's easy to complain when there's bad service, but those who give excellent service tend to not get the credit. She should seriously become manager because she already seems like one and I thought she was! read more

Customer service was awful. Went shopping for a formal dress and was never acknowledged by an associate. Finally found a fitting room and was yelled at by an employee to go to a different fitting room in a different area. Never once asked me if I needed assistance. I felt like I was being followed by security as he walked by and creepily stared at my son and me at least 4 times on different floors throughout our visit. Dillards in general is a pretty good store. It's one of the only stores I go to at the chapel Hills Mall. Today, I tried to go to the Mac counter and was completely ignored by all three of these catty women. I was literally waving one of them down, she said she would be with me in a moment, and went back to chatting with what I assume is one of their friends. They were just gossiping and taking selfies and completely ignored their customer. Not only was I brushed off, but it almost felt like I was being bullied. I will never go to that counter again. I would rather buy my Mac products online than ever have to face that counter. The supervisor of the Mac counter should fire every last one of them. read more

This store has poor customer service and treats customers like trash. While shopping for a homecoming dress I put a dress on hold at 6 pm. The cashier told me they'd hold it for me the next day. I'm a loyal user of Clinique skincare line but I've never purchased from Dillard's Clinique. I wanted to have someone to pick a right color of liquid foundation for my skin tone. I asked a Clinique employee at the counter for help however she glanced me once and picked a color. I gave her a comment because it looks so different from the one I was using at that time and she snapped out and said " well If you know your color then feel free to pick by yourself." And turned herself back inside the counter. I looked over her shoulder wondering what's more important than a customer!? A whole cake!!!! She was slicing a whole cake to share with her coworkers. Inside the store!! Wow what a customer service! I went to Macy's Clinique and a employee there picked 3 colors just in case and try on my face and I was able to find a right one. read more

Very unhappy, I have been to dillards many times and have been very pleased but am very upset about my recent experience. I had bought a dress 3 months ago to wear for a special occasion. I just wore the dress about a week ago and noticed that the hem was falling apart. I had the tags to the dress and everything but was not able to return the dress because of their return policy. Their return policy is awful, because of this I will not be shopping at dillards again. I was not asking to get my money back but to just get store credit to at least get a different dress. For dillards prices they should at least make exceptions to the return policy if the item is damaged. I will add though that the store associate was very nice, but the manager was awful, the manager'a decision has caused the store to lose a loyal customer. Nordstrom is one of the best stores to shop at, their return policy and customer service is amazing, they know how to keep their customers happy, maybe Dillards should try to be a little more like them. read more

When our Dillard's at the Citadel converted over to a clearance center, it was both a blessing and curse. Initially, there was a lot of great deals and many items from luggage, kitchenware, handbags, etc. Now it is barren and consists mostly of just clothes and shoes. I now head up to the Dillard's at Chapel if I ever need to go to a regular Dillard's. The store is clean however store associates have a tendency to bother customers and hover. There's an associate that works near the women's handbags area that will not leave my mom and I in peace to browse the store. Keeps asking if we need help multiple times and I counted four times the last time I was in the store. Asks multiple questions and keeps following us. This Dillard's does remind me of a Best Buy! Same issue in the shoe department. If we need help, we'll go find an associate! This place is lacking in customer service. I've been avoiding this place due to how rude and bothersome associates are here. Love how there's a lot of options for cosmetic counters. Wide selection of kitchen equipment and bedding. Bathrooms are always spotless! read more

I too had a dreadful experience at this Dillards. The Estee Lauder rep was too busy playing with her phone to pay attention to me. Finally she did and she more or less threw the product at me that I had planned to purchase. The woman at the Dior counter checked me out and was very rude as well. Onto another experience in the clothing dept. I returned an item for which I paid cash. I was rudely informed that I would have to go upstairs to get my refund because they didn't keep much cash in the register. The service in this store is unbelievable. The manager at Dillard's is one of the most disrespectful, rude individuals I've met in my life. I wanted to return a shirt that was worn only to try on. The shirt had ripples at the bottom and a spot in the middle from sitting in my car. I could have easily hand washed it and returned it, but I didn't notice until I brought it back. The associate, who I might add was respectful and kind, called her to see if it was returnable. She told him it was not. After I asked to speak with her, she began to speak to me in a condescending tone while smiling and laughing. I had everything required to return the shirt, yet she said its wasn't returned in its original form... Tags, shirt, and receipt. No rips or wears. It wasn't stain. I could have easily taken it home to remove the blemish. The fact that she treated me in a disrespectful manner was enough to never visit the store again. I left the shirt with her(unreturned) and went and bought a new shirt at JCPenney. I submitted a formal complaint to Dillards and received an email from her stating "Sorry about your experience, thank you for your complaint". This company employs pompous schmucks. I'll never go back and many friends and relatives have told me their bad experiences with this same store and manager about their return policy. read more
