I was away on business, so most of my interaction was over the phone. I had a previous estimate from another company for 64 feet of fence and gave instructions to Southern Landscaping to match it. They "measured" an additional 20 feet of fence, but because I wasn't there to verify their measurements, I assumed they knew what they were doing. I was wrong. Shame on me for getting fooled into thinking they wouldn't over measure to give themselves more business than what I had asked for. After a few conversations, they admit they built more fence than what I asked for, but still wouldn't refund me any portion of payment. I would not use this company in the future.

Review One thing…read morethat has been bothering us for almost a year is the lack of new growth with our 2 sago palms due to the aggressive frond defoliation done by Leo (Owner) and (his son) Oscar. One saga palm is over 50 years old and the other is approximately 25 years old. Both sago palms have been through hard weather and freeze then recovered with nice new growth. However, there has been zero new growth. Mistakes Made Defoliating Sago Plants * Removing all the fronds from a sago palm seriously harmed the palms. * The sago palms lost the ability to photosynthesize, so they can't produce food. * No new fronds for 11+ months Mulching Done Wrong * Doing mulch wrong can absolutely kill plants. * The most common mistake is "volcano mulching" piling mulch against tree trunks or plant stems--which traps moisture, rots the bark, and invites pests. My husband noticed this volcano-like mounds around both sago palms. No Solutions Offered * Email sent with photos * Phone calls made * One phone call to Stanley seemed promising then radio silence. * No offer for replacement * No offer to remove the sago palms. * Safe Disposal Warning * Extreme Toxicity: Sago palms contain cycasin, a potent toxin that is deadly to dogs, cats, and horses. * Safe Handling: Wear heavy work gloves and long sleeves. My only complaint is who ever delivered the garden soil to us had delivered pea gravel/small rocks before us and did not clear them all out. Our garden soil was delivered with pea gravel/small rocks in it. We WERE going to use the extra soil to fill in holes in our yards but now we can't because of the rocks. We don't want to mess up our riding mowers! Now we don't know what we are going to do with the extra soil. Next time I will MAKE sure to request a CLEAN delivery trailer/dump truck. The 4 stars are for the quality. One star for the garden soil having pea gravel/small rocks.

Overall I was very impressed…read more First, the overall professionalism was phenomenal, showed up on time, communicated with me the whole time, and gave a quote immediately. I was hoping I could get a little break to have multiple trees cut down (had several that were diseased, and pointing towards unsafe landings), and I was delighted to figure out that I could have all the trees done at the same time for a better price. We weren't sure if it was going to rain on the scheduled day, and again, communicated with me the whole time. Then showed up on time as promised, with staff that was all wearing brightly colored t-shirts for safety. The job was done all in one morning (several trees cut down, and several needed some maintenance). The crew left my property as tidy as possible, and didn't interrupt me one bit (I work from home). At the end when they were all done, I had wanted some additional branches trimmed, and they had no problem hopping back on their equipment to get the tree trimmed. Nothing was damaged, none of the wires were hit, and I officially have a new tree servicing company to call for all my needs. Only a couple minor comments, neither worth taking away a star. I had wanted to save some money, so planned on burning my own trees/branches, but the two tree piles left for me where a bit larger than what I wanted to set on fire. I'm just not that brave with fire, so I had to do some work on my own to make the piles smaller, but I think if I had seen the piles before they left and said something, they would have made more smaller piles, but I didn't realize the size of the piles and didn't say anything. So I take full responsibility for that. The other issue is that I am allergic to perfumes, and the person who gave the quote and came back to manage the work wore just a little too much. We were outside and it was too strong. I probably came off rude keeping my distance, but most people don't realize how their perfumes smell to others, and even less people are aware that people have allergies to such. Again, I said nothing (because in my experience, people don't generally respond well to being told their perfume is offensive), but I'm sure if I had asked for them to not wear so much perfume they would have respected my wishes. Thus, no stars taken away. Definitely recommend these folks. Professional, and affordable.
