I believe in giving credit where it's due. After posting my previous review, it was clear that the team at Jazz Alley took the feedback seriously. Since then, every visit has been fantastic. The staff has been noticeably more attentive, welcoming, and genuinely focused on creating a great guest experience. I've been coming to Jazz Alley since 2005, and over the past 20 years it has been the place where I've celebrated birthdays, anniversaries, business dinners, and evenings out with family and friends. Some of my favorite memories in Seattle have been made here--introducing guests from out of town to world-class jazz, sharing dinner with my son, and enjoying unforgettable performances with my partner and close friends. What stands out now is that the service once again matches the caliber of the musicians on stage. Servers are attentive without being intrusive, food arrives on time, and the atmosphere feels warm and welcoming again. No restaurant or venue gets it right 100% of the time, but what matters is listening to customers and making improvements. Jazz Alley appears to have done exactly that, and I truly appreciate it. It's great to have one of Seattle's iconic venues back to providing the complete experience--exceptional music paired with exceptional hospitality. We were excited to see Lisa Fischer, who was fantastic! Still 5 stars for the musicians, venue and sound. The last couple of years I have always ordered the Beef Tenderloin Salad, which is really good. But they took it off the menu! The entree salads (and you have to order an entree to qualify for good seats) now are chicken breast, which does not appeal at all, or Greek meatball salad, which I ordered, even though it sounded odd. It was a huge plate of peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers,onions, feta, and MANY olives, with 4 meatballs on the side. The meatballs were bland, and the salad was too much of salty taste. After that I needed something to counteract the strong salt flavors, so I ordered dessert, which I almost never do, and got the Tiramisu. It was fabulous, and even though I planned to share it with my husband I ate almost the whole thing. He enjoyed his Short Ribs, and we had good service. Please bring back the steak salad!! read more

It was a date night, and we visited Dimitriou's Jazz Alley to see the Jazz Funk Soul Quintet featuring Jeff Lorber, Everette Harp, and Paul Jackson Jr. Each artist is accomplished individually, but together they deliver engaging grooves, memorable melodies, and a dynamic performance that push beyond traditional smooth jazz. All of this was on display Friday night. Joining them were Cornelius Mims (bass) and Michael White (drums). Though the set was besieged by an on and off hum coming from the equipment (we think) and another issue with a computer, they did not disappoint us. Instead of their more recent material (which is where the computer comes in) the group took us down memory lane, it worked! We arrived early for dinner before the first show and were seated on the mezzanine level. Our server Nikki was very welcoming and took our order. We ordered drinks--an Old Fashioned and a Sauvignon Blanc--along with appetizers. Our appetizer selections included calamari served with lemon aioli and spicy red chili oil, and the Aegean Meze Platter. The platter featured grilled eggplant, baby carrots, cucumbers, dolmades, Mama Lil's red peppers, marinated artichoke hearts, assorted olives, tomatoes, and house-made hummus and olive tapenade. We thoroughly enjoyed the appetizers. For dinner, we decided to order full meals, which we don't always do here. One entrée was the Linguini Del Mar, featuring sea scallops, Gulf prawns, Alaskan Coho salmon, and clams sautéed in a garlic, white wine, and lemon butter sauce, served over linguini and topped with Parmigiano Grana. The seafood was fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. My only unreadiness was the dish didn't include mussels, which from my perspective, would have really made it fantastic. The second dish was the White Gulf Prawn and Avocado Caesar salad. It included prawns, hard-boiled egg, cherry tomatoes, romaine, and Tuscan kale tossed in Caesar dressing, topped with croutons and grated Parmigiano Grana. I sampled it and found it to be very good. We also added a couple orders of the Jazz Alley Cornbread that included butter and honey. The corn bread was delicious folks!! We decided to end our dinner with dessert. Jazz Alley - Dinner & Live Jazz Experience I invited a close couple friend to Jazz Alley for a special evening, and overall it was a memorable night combining good food, wine, and live jazz. We started with a bottle of red wine (I don't recall the name), but it was a full-bodied red, rich and smooth--perfect for celebrating and paired beautifully with the Aegean Meze Platter. For dinner, we ordered: Vegetable Lasagna Fresh Petrale Sole Parmesan Cremini Mushroom Risotto Arcadian Greens Salad Two Caesar Salads The main dishes were solid and satisfying, especially the Petrale Sole and the risotto. The salads, however, were a bit underwhelming for the price. The venue itself is quite dark--so dark that we needed our phone lights to read the menu. While this adds to the classic jazz club ambiance, it's something to be aware of. Our food and drinks came to a little over $400 for four people, and on top of that, we had pre-purchased live show tickets for $200, bringing the total to around $600 + for the evening. It's definitely a splurge, but if you're looking for a special night out with live jazz, good food, and a celebratory atmosphere, Jazz Alley delivers the full experience. read more

We haven't been here for a good many years essentially because we don't get to Seattle like we once did. Well, I am regretting having missed some great service, great food and beverages not to mention the live music. It's amazing how this venue can do two dinner shows in an evening! That's seating guests, taking food and beverage orders, serving and the clean up and do it again! Simply incredible. Don't think it's Jazz music only because you might be surprised. We saw Elvin Bishop and the Big Fun Trio playing some classic blues and modern renditions. Lastly, I was delighted to see a large and diverse crowd of younger folks enjoying a great show in a classic and classy venue. I was expecting to see the place filled with us grey hairs! The venue is always a fun hang for the music. Unfortunately, the food is often somewhat of a miss. It's ok but nothing special. Their "famous" lasagna is somewhat flat in taste, the Mezze platter is dissapointing and overpriced. The Veggie Samosas (new item Nov 25) are in wonton wrappers, deep fried and barely have any filling. To call them a samosa is an insult culturaly to their homeland. The beef stew was hamburger fried up and dropped into an overly salty tomato broth - not sure how that constitues a stew? The drinks are short poured... the list goes on. It doesn't change that the staff is always friendly, it's got a great vibe and the venue is a blast for a show. Just know this isn't a fine dining venue and you're better off grabbing dinner elsewhere and ordering some wine and a dessert at this venue for the show! read more

Just made it to Jazz Alley for the first time and had a wonderful time. I came up to Seattle from Portland to see the blues artist Ronnie Baker Brooks. Ronnie puts on a fantastic show. I've caught him in Portland, OR, and out on the seas. Ronnie actually played Portland the day before! I've been meaning to check out Jazz Alley, so when I heard about the opportunity to be awarded tickets to the show, I jumped on it. Jazz Alley is a lovely setup inside. The space feels sophisticated while still cozy and welcoming. and the service was spot on. We arrived early for dinner and I ordered the Beef Tenderloin Brochette Salad. My friend ordered the sole. At first I was hesitant to order this salad, thinking the beef might be chewy, but the server assured me it was tender--and it absolutely was. Perfect medium rare and truly fork-tender. My friend LOVED her sole entree. The show itself had fantastic sound quality, along with the staging and lighting. I'll be back up at Jazz Alley for sure! My disappointment was in the table we chose... .we were in the balcony, head on... which meant the booth was placed the short way, and we had to sit facing the table with our heads turned to see the stage. My experience at Jazz Alley was amazing! Everyone is super nice and welcoming, my server was very attentive and always checking up on me. I picked up a last minute ticket for the Spinners and was afraid that my seat wouldn't grant me the best experience, due to getting one of the last seats off to the side. But I was proven wrong! As first-timers, we loved the experience! The venue is a perfect size and it looks like most seats would be excellent. We. Loved the table lighting. The dinner was very nice, maybe a bit on the pricey side but we enjoyed it. The servers were very adept at keeping the dinners in track while navigating the narrow aisles. We were in Seattle, WA visiting our son over the Christmas Holidays! Son got us tickets to see Kenny G at this Jazz Club! It said doors opened at 9:15 pm, but it was more like way after 9:30 pm. It was sooo cold outside, son gave me his jacket too. I was freezing. When we finally were seated, cocktails arrived really fast, which was great. Drinks flowed nicely all night, FANTASTIC SERVICE!! You can also order dinner, but we ate across the street earlier.. It was a fantastic show that Kenny G put on. Awesome music.. We loved the drummer too. When it was over, we headed to the back to buy some fun stuff. I bought an album and they gave me a nice drink tumbler. This is an old-school gem! These days I avoid going to downtown Seattle whenever possible, but this place is worth it. There aren't very many jazz clubs like this anymore. We had our first trip here over the weekend with friends and really enjoyed ourselves. The service was excellent, great weight staff who are attentive, but don't hover. The food was top shelf. Specifically, the prime rib was done to perfection and all the sides were excellent. Because it was an old school venue, I had an old school martini that was also excellent. and they have a great wine list as well. And I haven't even got to the entertainment. The band we saw was outstanding, nationally known, with members that have multiple programming, nominations and awards. In short, our time spent here was too short and we're going to have to go back. A word on the seating, it's a club built around the stage, and the seats are cozy, but comfortable. Not a bad seat in the house, including at the bar so don't be put off when you make your reservations if you can't sit in the front row. read more

Beautiful experience - we were visiting over the weekend, from Montreal, Canada and jazz is quite popular here, we do have a world class festival that runs every summer, however I never experienced anything quite like Jazz Alley. A friend booked tickets for us on Saturday April 19, 2025. The headliner was jazz singer/songwriter and guitarist Madeleine Peyroux. We had no idea what to expect and were blown away on all levels. We arrived around 6:30PM, were seated in a nice banquet close to the stage. Our group of 4 ordered various appetizers like the corn bread, calamari and antipasto platter. These were delicious, along with fruity cocktails. Our main meals were salmon, risotto, chicken piccata. Everything was served so promptly, presentation, flavors and portion were on point. I tasted both the fresh king salmon and chicken and they were equally tender, well marinated and just bursting with flavor. Once we were about done eating, that's when the show started. I was moved by the performance and Madeleine's beautiful vocals. She opened each song with a popular quote - this was poetic and added reflection to each message she was delivering through her music. Her style was varied and the crowd was lively. It looked like everyone enjoyed themselves. I was bobbing my head and tapping my feet the whole time. It was a memorable night, the combination of food and show is just so much fun. Strongly recommend Jazz Alley if you enjoy livve music, are open to dicovering new artists and just want a great meal combined with entertainement. read more

Came here to celebrate my birthday and to see The Miracles, one of our go-to spots for date nights when we feel like dressing up and treating ourselves. We parked for free in the Amazon Doppler garage right across from The Spheres, super convenient and just a short walk to the venue. For drinks, we ordered two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc, an Old Fashioned, and an IPA. For food, we shared the calamari (so tender, perfectly breaded and seasoned, paired with a sauce that really brought it together) and the Cajun cornbread which honestly might be the best cornbread I've ever had. Add a little softened butter and honey and it was an experience. That cornbread was the highlight of the night for me. For mains, I got the chicken piccata. It was fine, but nothing memorable. I kind of wish I had picked something else. My husband had the gumbo, which was generously packed with seafood and chicken, but it didn't quite hit the mark compared to others we've tried. Service here is exceptional! Plenty of staff, very attentive without being overbearing. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, professional, and made us feel genuinely welcome. The vibe and atmosphere are usually electric, especially with the right band and a lively crowd. Unfortunately, last night's crowd felt a little stiff until the band did some crowd work. We were seated on the main floor and I kept wishing people would loosen up and just feel the music. The band absolutely deserved more energy from the room. wow. how utterly bland. maybe it's the general demographic of this establishment, season-less, but that's exactly what the food felt like. Personally, I had the chicken piccata, and maybe that wasn't a prized feature of the menu, but for the price point of $40+, I was truly expecting more. . . zest? My peers had the short ribs and halibut, and because sharing IS caring, I had to have a bite, and alas my opinion remains the same! What flavorless food ! Then there's the setting, gorgeous lighting no doubt, setting a gorgeous ambiance on stage. And every table was decorated with a cute and charming oil lamp in vase, but that's all I can credit to the establishment. My question is, why are we all so far apart? I want to look at my neighbors and rejoice in the beauty of the music. Contribute to the community's shared love of jazz, because after all, the music here is simply wonderful. An almost divine experience. But everyone here claps so politely, sits so neatly, it's an individualistic experience. Maybe I'm biased. Maybe I'm comparing this establishment to its peers and maybe I'm being a bit unfair. Maybe it's perfectly suited to the demographic of seattle and I'm simply an outsider with no understanding of the culture? Who knows !? Would I come here again if I were to ever visit Seattle once more? Most likely. It is a fun experience and my overly-critical opinions shouldn't deter anyone with the affluence to enjoy. This is one of my favorite venues. It is the only dinner jazz club of its kind in WA State. However, I was so disappointed when I ordered the prawns and cheesy grits with collard greens. It showed up in a bowl that looked like red soup. You couldn't find the prawns or the greens or the grits. Someone had dumped a horrendous amount of sauce over everything and it became this nasty red soup that you couldn't determine what in the world it was and it was overpowering. It was basically sauce soup and I was very disappointed. My recommendation is to keep the grits and the greens separate and put the sauce over the prawns. Get rid of that horrible sauce all over what was supposed to have been a good meal. The hibiscus margarita was fantastic though. read more

I have been to Jazz Alley many times. We see a half dozen shows a year. The sound is always great, and shows start on time or just a few minutes late. Since there are two shows many nights they are careful about the clock! Seating is a little tight, but not uncomfortably so. When making your reservation pay attention to the seat diagrams. The booths and the benches where you both sit on the same side of the table feel a little roomier than those with chairs. We've sat on the balcony a couple times and I can't say I recommend it. Not that it's BAD, but feels a little "disconnected." Food is usually good, though there have been a few times where I was "meh" about it. Some items are transient, some appear all the time. A couple that stand out to me: mushroom risotto; short ribs; salmon. Prime rib seems to be popular as they often run out but I'm not a big fan of that cut so I can't comment. Their breads are excellent, as are desserts. Drinks are well done, prices maybe a tad high but not shocking. Service is almost always prompt and friendly, though there have been a few nights when they've appeared short staffed and we've had to wait a bit longer. But I've never felt we had bad service, and have never had an error in our orders (that I recall!) One thing that really impresses me is the crowds almost uniformly know how to behave in a jazz club. They keep their conversations low or non-existent during the music. read more

What an awesome Emerald City gem! This place is great. From the free parking to the great music and even really good food, you cannot miss spending time at Dimitriou's. We came to see blues icon Taj Mahal during his annual Thanksgiving visit here and it was such a great experience we will definitely be looking into more shows! Our waitress was great, the music was legendary, and the food was really, really good. We had some really solid drinks (even non-alcoholic ones for those of us that don't drink) and great cocktails for those that do. The atmosphere is really remarkable. You can get a table right next to the stage so you almost feel like you're apart of the show. Definitely worth checking out! read more

We find ourselves at Demitriou's Jazz Alley every time we are in Seattle - there is always an artist of interest during our stay and the price is reasonable. We always have a good time: service is on-it and drinks are tasty and no more expensive than at anywhere nearby. The food is held to be great, but we've only gotten snacks here. But no wonder there's always a packed house! I've had issues with the music simply being too loud for some shows, but the staff offered earplugs and that took care of things. We have seen shows from the main floor and from the balcony and the balcony suits us better, but I don't think there's a poor seat in this incredibly well designed venue. read more

I've ordered just about everything on the menu and I've been coming here since the 2000s. The food is consistently very good, and there's a great selection for apps, dinner, and the desserts are phenomenal. Drinks are very good as well and you are going to have a great time here. The service is very dialed in, and this is the best place to see some marquee acts from local artists, to nationally and globally known musicians. Loved our experience at Jazz Alley. But we sat at the bar, had dinner and a couple of cocktails. I sat forever waiting for a refill on my water. We spent over $200 aside from the tickets so I didn't mind asking them to refill the water a few times. I asked Ellington for a refill, so he got the pitcher then started at the end of the bar (we were in the middle) then walked right past us. I had to ask him again. When he came, I told him we waited quite a while for the water. He snarkily said, "You'll never run out of water again." I tried to explain to him that the peppers on the Meze that I had for dinner were very hot. He shrugged like he was upset. A beautiful theater for a fun and special night out. We stopped in for the Cherry Poppin Daddies show this fall and it did not disappoint. The theater is a beautiful graduated tier style so that almost any seat in the house has a great view, creating an intimate feeling space. Food and drinks were tasty all around, I had a delicious NA cherry drink which felt festive and was so refreshing. The wedge salad was a stand out for the food and the lasagna was tasty (though on the heavy meat end). Lots to love about this place and we can't wait to come back for more shows. read more
