I had a lovely time at Diner Deluxe a couple weeks ago. The space is lively and bright. It isn't super loud so it is a good place to have a conversation. Our server went above and beyond to make sure my meal met by dietary needs. I had the avocado toast which is topped with poached eggs, feta, and is tomatoes and served with a side of hashbrowns. The food was fresh and tasty but a bit on the pricier side. The only issue is that it can be tough to find parking so plan ahead in case you need to walk. While the lot out front was completely full, there is another lot about half a block north of it that was complete empty during the day. read more

I have a few qualms to share about diner deluxe. First off, I feel that in 2025 you need to have an online presence (reservations, waitlist, text line, etc.) The food is so hit or miss, I have gone and wanted to order seconds and other times have gotten served soggy and cold food. This will be the third time ordering from here, as I want to give it a chance. The eggs are chewy and microwaved, my $20 omelette contained nothing, the bacon was deep fried and crumbled at the touch, the fruit "cup" had half obviously old fruit, and the toast was completely inedible. Diner Deluxe is well known in Calgary and recommended by many. I stopped by for brunch and to catch up with a friend. The interior is absolutely stunning, it's so aesthetic and cute. Our server was very nice as well, I wish I remembered her name! I had the Smoked Salmon eggs benny ($18.50) which came with an abundance of potatoes. Nothing to really complain about in terms of the food, but I'm personally very picky about brunch. Overall I thought it was just average, maybe other people just hyped it up too much for me. read more

What a fun, friendly place to enjoy a meal! We were visiting Calgary with friends and they brought us here for brunch one morning. It was busy, but we were seated right away. Don't trust their hours. Made a lot of effort to get here for a special event and at 1:40 they said it was dead so they closed the kitchen at 1. We are deeply disappointed, they could have reimbursed our parking or given us even a tiny gift card to come back and try them again because of the inconvenience. Honestly very annoyed. read more

I went here for breakfast on a Saturday & it was busy of course, but the service & food were both exceptional! The atmosphere is great. It really gives off that cute diner vibe. The cute decorations really make the place unique! I had the Canadian Bacon & Tomato Confit Eggs Benedict & my friend had the Avocado & Fresh Tomato Eggs Benedict. Both of them were amazing & the hot chocolate was to die for. Our waitress (unfortunately I didn't get her name) was so friendly and really made the experience that much better. save your money! we went for my daughters 17th birthday and it was horrendous from start to finish. The food was vile, raw pancakes in the middle, burnt on one side, overcooked eggs, congealed cold bacon. Terrible service! we had to get our own water & cutlery from the busing station. No coffee refills, no condiments, forgotten food all for the bargin price of $90 for 3 people! Management has still yet to reply to my email.... from December 23rd. There are way better places! This location has no resemblance to the Edmonton Trail location which was always awesome service and great food. Mahogany is not good! read more

We decided to check this place out as our usual brunch spot had a long wait time. The place seemed busy when we arrived and we were put at the top of their waitlist and was told it would only be a couple minutes. The guests coming in after us got seated right away, after waiting a while longer, I went up to check and nobody knew we were on the waitlist, apparently they weren't even using said wait-list with our name on it but was told there was a table available for us right away, no apology for all the time we've been waiting while they seated all the other people. After being seated and getting our order taken, our drinks (hot chocolate and bottomless coffee) arrived. The cup of hot chocolate was lukewarm and you could tell it was spilled at some point as there were chocolate residue all over the outside of the cup. The handle also felt crusty when I went to take a sip. No sign of the waitress after she took our order until the food arrived, which was a long 45 min wait. By then we finished the water and our drinks and wasn't offered a refill. Food looked great but it was unfortunately not hot and was warm at best. Waitress once again disappeared, and nobody asked us how our food was or checked in on us the rest of our meal or we would have said something about the drinks and our cold food. Another waitress went to grab a new bottle of water for the table beside us and splashed us and the table while opening the bottle. She just looked at us, shrugged, giggled, pointed to the bottle and walked away, no apology and didn't come back to wipe our table. She spilled water all over us and didn't seem to care. At this point we were ready to pay and leave but once again couldn't find a waitress or server anywhere to flag down for the bill. Overall, food was mediocre and service was terrible. This entire meal was a struggle. Would not come again and would not recommend this place to anyone. Also to note they do skip the dishes which most likely contributed to the food taking so long but doesn't excuse the service. The food was good but the wait staff are very preoccupied with their cell phones . I asked the waitress for an extra dish when the meal arrived. It never arrived but I saw her on her phone for 10 minutes. Our waiter never checked back on how the meals were until he picked up the dishes. I ordered a side that never arrived but I didn't interrupt his phone call. I never say this... THIS FOOD IS AMAZING!!! But... We came on a Friday just before noon, and the music was so loud, it felt like we were in a Jamaican Dancehall. All patrons around us, and the servers had to talk above the blaring music. We'll come again, and just hope they get the the volume levels figured out. read more

Figured we would give this place a try because we love breakfast! Thought the risk of bad service wouldn't be that high because we are doing take out. Turns out this place can even mess that up. The reviews that say the service is bad are correct. The owner/manager should really address this issue. They got our order wrong, noticed before they tried to serve it and guess they had to remake it. But nobody thought to tell us. And the cook was hanging out in the front with the other staff and not remaking our food. It took forever. The staff didn't seem to understand that this is their job and not a hang out. They told us 4 minutes and it took over 20. What is WRONG with these people? Want to add: the sourdough toast was cold, chewy buttered bread. It didn't seem to be toasted at all. Ate it as soon as it got in the car. Wondering if they didn't give us new toast when they redid the omelette and frittata. Don't bother with this place. read more

Great food and menu. I love how they have books for the kids and kids tableware. That's about it for the positive things. Takes forever to get your order in, even longer for the food to ever come out. Can never find our waitress. You can never get a refill and I was nearly done with my food as it was almost cold while I was waiting for hot sauce. Service very subpar. read more

Ordered on Thursday night for a 10:30 am pickup on mother's day. Food was not ready until 12:30 and then the order was wrong and most of it was cold. No offer for a discount. Obviously they were only trying to cash in on mother's day. Will not be going back ever. read more

Diner Deluxe is one of the better breakfast joints in town. They have a fantastic menu full of options. My personal favourites are the Chicken and Waffles as well as the Huevos Rancheros. This location has plenty of seating and the staff are very friendly. Highly recommend coming to visit. read more

Maybe it was just bad timing but we were seated just before a party of 20 (twenty). Overall the service was slower than expected and I had to ask several times for a coffee refill. Just a suggestion, but someone should be designated to just do a circuit around the restaurant re-filling coffee. The food was good, but not overly hot, maybe is spent a little too much time under the heat lamp. The biggest disappointment was that I had to pay to park on a Sunday. Quite honestly, it wasn't a lot, but it was the principle of it. The developer wants people to patronize the various shops and services but then goes and hires Indigo to police parking. The whole area in Mahogany is like this. I will likely not be back because of it. read more

Went here for breakfast last week. Didn't wait long to get a table which was nice, but that's kinda where the good part ended. They took our order and when the food came out my partners was wrong. No one came back to ask how we were doing except at the end when we were ready to leave. The frittata was soggy and a pool of liquid left in the bottom of the dish. I ordered a waffle and there's must have been some cross contamination because I ended up viciously ill resulting in missing work. When I sent a friendly email to give them a heads up they didn't even have the decency to respond. Overpriced as all heck, two meals that cost me two nights wages for $50? No, Will never visit again or recommend to anyone. Food is good. Service is horrible. Hubby and I were there on labour day Monday. After standing in line for 15 minutes to even get to see the front desk, we were met by a hostess who proceeded to tell us it would be about a 30 to 45 minute wait. We agreed to wait and she put our name down. After an hour had passed, i went in to see if I could get an update on how much longer. The hostess, seemingly annoyed by my question, informed me that she couldnt give me an estimate on how long because it was "to hard to predict". I went back outside where my husband was and we decided to just wait for a couple more minutes. As I was standing outside I noticed 7 EMPTY tables. We waited 15 more minutes until I went in again. I was yet again told by the hostess that she "wasnt sure" how much longer it would be. At that point I asked her why we couldnt be sat at ANY of the 7 open tables, in which the hostess replied "i need to keep those open in case a bigger group comes and we need to push them together". Another man standing behind me asked about all the empty tables as well at which point the hostess huffed and muttered something under her breath and led my husband and I to a table. After an hour and 15 minutes, when we were finally sat at our table, we waited 15 minutes for our waiter to even come acknowledge us. Once our waiter finally took our drink order, those said drinks took another 20 minutes to come. After we finally ordered, our food took another 30 minutes. All and all....we were there for THREE hours. I will not be going back. Yes, the food is good....but not worth waiting 3 hours for. Next time we will probably just go to Ricky's, Canadian Brewhouse or the Brokn yolk down the street. Sometimes these hipster style breakfast places are all about their image and instagram worthy decor.....this is one if those places. read more

I'm not normally the person to write reviews on the internet but I had the worst service experience I have ever received here. We were seated quickly but the hostess was dismissive and rude as she was on the phone and using hand signals to call us over to our table. Once our waitress came over we tried to create the normal small talk but she wanted nothing to do with it. We ordered quite quickly then proceeded to wait for almost an hour to get our food with no contact from or waitress to fill our glasses or update us on our order. Tables that had been seated after us had eaten their food and were paying their bills before we even got our food. Once we received our food the waitress made no effort to apologize for how long it took then begrudgingly said she would "Get your coffee". The waitress didn't come back to see how the food was which was mediocre at best. For the price point of the food we had expected more. Judging by reviews many people have had good experiences here but for my girlfriend and I this was the first and last time we will eat here. I wouldn't recommend this place to a friend. read more
