The price can get a little high if you upgrade to a large and depending on the amount of toppings, but very flavorful drinks with soft and chewy boba. One time I visited they gave me a defective cup, which leaked all over my car. I brought it back and they didn't want to give me a new drink, just pour the remaining into a new cup (by that point I'd lost at least 1/3 of the drink from leaking all over my car). This Ding Tea was originally a go in and pickup order to go kind of location. You can stop and chat for a bit, but it wasn't super comfortable or anything. UNTIL NOW. I'm not sure exactly when they renovated their seating space, but it's much, much nicer now! I love how it's kind of blocked off for each group to have their own little space. Though it can be a little cramped depending on number of people, Ding Tea makes for a good place to hangout now. It's just a bit difficult to walk through and see whether it's busy or not. As for the drinks, they're relatively good. They're consistent, and the drinks don't take very long to come out. Enjoying their other location, I was excited to find another one right next to a delicious banh mi spot. I was actually not a fan of Ding Tea at all and I tried to avoid this place. I didn't really like the flavor of their tea or anything... but someone wanted to come here for dessert and I didn't want to be THAT guy so we decided to go. We visited late on a Saturday night near closing time so the place was fairly empty -- I decided to just stick to the basic and I got the signature house tea with boba. Our drinks came out relatively quickly and that was nice since this place is usually always busy. The signature milk tea was honestly not that bad at all! It had a great sweet flavor and a rich milk flavor that I enjoyed and the stereotype I had against Ding Tea was completely gone. This is the first time ever I give a business one star! If i could I would give 0! I ordered 5 boba tea today. First they didn't have cup holder so they put all 5 teas in a bag, which was my first that ever getting that from a tea store. After i got back home, i found out that i gotten a regular instead of the large tea i paired for on one of the tea, and the one tea was missing tapioca topping, because it was in a paper cup so you can't see what toppings Were missing. We had mixed results at Ding Tea Duluth. Some of the drinks were good, some were okay, and one was so bad, we threw it away after a couple sips (a waste). I give this bubble tea shop 3 stars; it's okay and worth trying. One of my friends likes this place and is a regular. Ding Tea is another Taiwanese-based bubble tea chain with locations worldwide. This one is the first one in Georgia and it opened in GW Marketplace (the Sweet Hut Duluth shopping center) in December 2018, on the far side of the plaza near ChoongMan Chicken. Most of these bubble tea places generally look the same with their open tea prep kitchens, walk-up counters, and rectangular seating areas. Kung Fu Tea, Sharetea, Unbelibubble; they're all about the same. Ding Tea Duluth's layout is very similar to Gong Cha Duluth's layout. Ding Tea has banquette seating, small round tables, and a couple Instagram walls where customers can pose for shots with their bubble tea. The interior has a white-blue color scheme with a bit of a floral/whimsical element. Not much differentiates Ding Tea from other bubble tea shops in metro Atlanta; at least, not that I can tell. They have uniquely-shaped cups with rounded-edge bottoms that are reserved for special drinks or are available upon request (regular size only). Their drinks come in two sizes: regular (500 mL or 16.9 oz) and large (700 mL or 23.7 oz). Most regular-sized drinks start anywhere from $3.65 to $4.35 each. Upgrading your drink to a large size costs $0.55 and toppings are $0.55 each too. Drink types include traditional, fruit, and milk teas, slushes, coffee, lattes, fruit juices, and drinks made with Yakult/yogurt. Toppings include "golden" and "crystal" boba along with a variety of jellies, egg pudding, aloe vera, red bean, and "sea cream" (a salty cream layer on top). Overall, there's a decent selection on the menu. If you have trouble deciding, like other bubble tea places such as Tea Top, Ding Tea has a "Top 10" drinks menu with pictures. Also, they had blackboard specials during our visit, featuring about a half-dozen special drinks including "Wizard of Oz" (a colorful green drink) and plum lemon. Here's what I tried: * Winter melon milk tea with golden boba (regular, $4.30) * Jasmine taro latte with golden boba (large, $4.99) * Lychee Yakult/yogurt with golden boba (large, $5.45) * Jasmine green milk tea with golden boba (regular, $4.20) As noted above, Ding Tea has "golden" boba and it's their standard boba. The boba has a lighter brown/amber color to it and it tastes sweet. It's among the sweeter boba I've tried, up there with Kung Fu Tea's boba. I liked it. Across all drinks, the boba was consistently fresh and appetizingly soft with great chewy texture. They did a good job on the boba here. As for the drinks, the jasmine green milk tea with boba was my favorite followed by the winter melon milk tea with boba. The lychee Yakult drink with boba was okay while the jasmine taro latte with boba was the drink we threw out. I recommend the jasmine green milk tea to everyone. It's a safe bet. It's just a good, classic-tasting tea with ideal tea-milk balance and sweetness (we ordered "less" or 70% sugar). I enjoyed the winter melon milk tea, but it's not for everyone. Winter melon drinks are inherently very sweet. Even at "slight" or 30% sugar, my winter melon milk tea was noticeably sweet. It had a bit of a syrupy aftertaste to it, but it wasn't bad. I'd order it again. The winter melon milk tea is one of Ding Tea's caffeine-free options, but you wouldn't know it because, unlike the competition, they don't specify which drinks are caffeine-free on the menu. I think they should do that. I had to ask the cashier which drinks were caffeine-free. The lychee Yakult drink was the only drink served in a non-transparent cup. I wonder why. Maybe it doesn't look photogenic. All of the drinks were served cold/on ice. The drink tasted exactly how it sounds: Yakult, the Japanese yogurt drink, mixed with lychee flavor. It was sweet, fruity, and tart with a thin/light consistency. Not bad, but not something I'd want to order right away again either. The jasmine taro latte tasted watered down. The flavor wasn't there. I'm usually pretty tolerant of mediocre-tasting bubble tea, but this one wasn't even worth drinking. I'm not sure if we got a bad batch or what, but I tossed it after 2-3 sips and I rarely do that. We ordered this one at slight/30% sugar, which I do not recommend. Go at least 50% on the taro drinks. Disappointing. The special cups do look cool. Unlike the awkwardly-wide special cups at Jazen Tea, Ding Tea's special cups fit in car cup holders just like standard-shaped cups, so no worries there. Service was polite and speedy. On a Thursday night, the crowd looked like mostly teenagers and twenty-somethings. I've been to Ding Tea a few times now, and as a boba snob, I'll have to give this place a solid 3.5. It may also be due to being relatively new to the boba scene, but there are quite a few kinks that other bubble tea shops are no longer dealing with that Ding Tea has. 1. Line to order moves SO slow. The wait to pick up your drink is bad, too, but not nearly as awful as waiting in line near the entrance (or possibly outside) to place your order. Not sure what is so slow but I've yet to see a time where it doesn't take forever to place my drink order. 2. Who is still charging a card minimum? $7? Seriously? That means each person needs to buy a minimum of 2 drinks. No. I was so thankful when Kung Fu Tea got rid of that and started using Level Up - a definite game changer. 3. Maybe they're still new so they don't think a rewards is effective. Once the craze for the flower wall dies down, I can't imagine people will keep coming back unless there are incentives. 4. There hasn't been Hokkaido Milk Tea in a couple weeks. How long does it take to restock that? I wasn't a huge fan of the Hokkaido Black Milk Tea (bleh) but I've been dying to try the Hokkaido Oolong Milk Tea, but they've been out of whatever ingredient they need to prepare the drinks for at least a couple weeks now. 5. Ok, that flower wall is pretty freaking amazing, I'll have to give them that. But since the wait for the line is so long and there seems to be limited seating, it gets crowded near the flower wall. Hence, hard to get those instaworthy shots!!! What's the point, then?!? The rest of the interior of the store is super basic and cute, though. 6. I've had a few drinks, my favorite so far being the Taro Jasmine Latte. It was a little weird at first but it grew on me, with the fragrance of jasmine complemented by the taste of the Taro flavor. And I'm always a fan of fresh milk! I unfortunately was not the biggest fan of the Hokkaido Black Milk Tea due to the odd sugary sweet caramel aftertaste. And the matcha latte was fine - nothing mind blowing but definitely a solid drink. 7. Wtf is Crystal Boba... it reminds me of undercooked boba since it's crunchy. Maybe I just don't like changing something that is already working for me, but give me more Golden Boba please, thanks! Overall, the tea at Ding Tea hasn't been anything special to me so far. I really wanted to like Ding Tea. It has so much potential, given its reputation all over the world, namely the amazing experiences I had in Vietnam and California. Unfortunately, when you compare this bubble tea to the likes of Kung Fu Tea, Tea Top, or even Sweet Hut (shocker), this falls to the bottom of the totem pole. The Good: - Friendly and upbeat bobaristas - Clean - Good boba. Pretty impressed. The Bad: - Very slow. Had to wait 30 minutes for 1 drink when there were only 6 people ahead. - Lacking in flavor. I've gone several times and tried my drinks with light ice, extra sugar, light sugar, regular. Nothing has made it better. Unfortunately, that's not the case with this location, where I have ordered bubble tea three times now. Today, I ordered the Mango Slush with Golden Boba and the Lychee Yakult with Coconut Jelly. While the Coconut Jelly was great, the Lychee Yakult hardly had much of a lychee flavor and the yakult tasted slightly diluted. The Mango Slush was very watery. Ding Tea is one of the newest additions to the tea shop scene in Duluth. A big parking is shared by other business in the shopping center. It can be challenging to find a spot at certain times. The space is a bit small with limited seating. Both times I went it was pretty busy, and there's not much room to wait for your order. However, the staff is quick and efficient. The space is beautiful. It's bright and clean with modern chic decor. I love the gorgeous flower wall. It's very IG worthy. I have been twice now and I really enjoyed what I've tried so far: Large Winter Melon Milk Tea $4.30 and Golden Boba +$0.55 Taro Milk Tea $3.75 with Crystal Boba +$0.75 The milk teas taste great. The wintermelon and taro milk teas are sweet and refreshing. You have an option of adjusting the sugar and ice levels. I usually opt for less on both. The bobas had great texture flavor. This was my first time trying the crystal boba which they consider as "crunchy boba" and I liked that as well. After a big meal next door, me and my friends decided to get some boba or some dessert. So we decided on going to Ding Tea and try it out. I remember the first time I tried to order something, but I noticed the lines were long and people were waiting a long time for their drinks to come out. But that was many months ago.. so hopefully this time was a lot better. And minimum charge for credit and debit card is $7. I ordered an Oolong milk tea here and it was okay. Very good on the oolong flavor, however I asked for regular sugar and ice levels that's 100% each. The ice level they gave me was pretty much like not even 25% which was a bummer. I guess the tea was too hot? Or maybe they were low on ice? IDK I just wished there was ice. The mango milk tea was pretty flavorful and the golden boba was pretty fresh. I didn't think something fruity and milky would be good together, but it was a nice touch. My friend ordered a tea with passion fruit. She wanted ice, but they gave her zero ice with hers. Maybe the music and room was too loud that the cashier misheard? Idk. They need to make sure the orders are correct or something. I judge a boba tea place base off their chicken nuggets. Most boba tea places are pretty much the same to me. I go to these places not because I particularly love boba tea but because it's the only place I can hang out with my friend after lunch without alcohol tempting me. Ding Tea doesn't have chicken nuggets. What they do have are a decently well-lit atmosphere and a clean toilet. This isn't a place for big groups at all. Each table can sit like three people and might hold two laptops. It's a decent place to study since it's nowhere near as loud as some other place unless you like the noise. The kpop is not overly loud either. I like that. I'm most impressed with the toilet paper. They have good toilet paper. The tea is pretty decent too. Their basic milk, jasmine, and oolong are also $3.65 which is 10c cheaper than most places. Though toppings cost 55c which is 5c more than other places. This place doesn't have an annoying Internet login timer like Tea House Formosa and this place also doesn't have annoying seating arrangements like Snowflake. Would I come here again? Probably. I'm giving Ding Tea a 3 stars (I originally almost went with 2 stars) because when this location first opened I was truly blown away by their drinks. My first drink here was a fruit one (maybe peach?) from the yogurt/yakult series with golden boba and I fell in love. Flavorful, not too sweet, and had that great yakult taste! However, I really wonder if I just dreamt that or something because every visit back to Ding Tea was a huge disappointment. It's widely inconsistent here and I'm not sure if it's a quality thing or a training thing but sometimes my boba milk tea taste like sugar water or bitter water or the boba is not cooked properly... I could be getting the wrong things! I have friends who love Ding tea but so far I have not been impressed. I've tried the lychee, peach, and strawberry yakult drinks, regular milk tea, aloe vera lychee juice, brown sugar milk tea and recently an item from their Taro series with the burnt sugar.
