A quaint old fashioned ice cream parlour that adds a touch of authenticity to your trip to the good old British seaside.

Great wee ice cream shop right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Oban…read more My boyfriends sisters husband fancied an ice cream while out and about in Oban, so we stopped in here. He kept it simple and ordered just a plain soft serve, while the rest of us went with single cones of scooped ice cream. The boyfriend had mint chocolate chip and I went for the toffee fudge. Both delicious in their own rights, but I think next time I could go for a double. The shop is small, but there's just enough room to get in and get out. A small queue was formed because the day was super sunny and warm but the service was speedy and we got our ice creams and left. Reading Kate M.'s review, I now know that a pokey hat is a Scottish term for an ice cream cone, which is something new to me. I love learning little things like that. What a great little place.

My mum had a double cone of raspberry and coconut ice creams, my auntie Shirley went for coconut and pistachio ice creams, I had a single Turkish delight ice cream and the boy had white chocolate. The single cones were massive!!!!!! And the double cones were really generous. All our ice creams were served in lovely waffle cones. The ice cream is all made on the premises to,Italian recipes. I have one teeny tiny complaint and its just they had no Ferrero rocher ice cream as that one is the bomb! The coconut ice creams were delicious, they had a really good flavour and consistency, the raspberry tasted just like fresh raspberries in cream and the pistachio has a beautiful delicate flavour. My Turkish delight ice cream had chunks of frys Turkish delight in it and it was beautifully flavoured. The boys white choc ice cream was also delicately flavoured, I find a lot of white choc ice creams very sickly and the boy isn't a massive ice cream fan but we both love the white choc ice cram from here as it has a lovely subtle flavour :-) It's £2 for a single cone and £3 for a double, this is a really reasonable price for decent portions of delicious well made ice cream. If you are going to Oban you must pop the pokey hat on your visit list :-)

This is such a cute café and gift shop. They are so friendly and warm. You feel like you're eating at a friend's house. We had the leek and sweet potato soup, scone with cream and jam, tea and ice cream. Random I know but all delicious. Soup-thick and flavorful. It was the prettiest orange color and came with some seriously hearty brown brood (that's Scottish for bread). Scone-moist with raisins. It was good by itself but then you add the raspberry jam andhwhipped cream(not sweet-think more like whipped butter) and watch out! I may never leave. The tea was hot and spot on with the scone. Ice cream-they call it ice cream but it was more like frozen custard. Rich, thick and creamy!!! So good. I got traditional flavor-like vanilla. They have a great view of the loch and the castle. There's great outdoors seating and a trail down to a viewing point. This place is great!!! Come for the view and stay for the food. It's so worth a stop.

Its on the coastal road between Oban and Fort William just North of the village of Appin. We went every day on our weeks holiday in March and it was never that busy, however returned in August and it was mobbed! There is also a nice little gift shop at the main entrance. The cafe itself serves rolls/sandwiches and homemade soup. But the really best bit is the homemade baking the scones and tarts and cakes are amazing. Also I loved the hot chocolates which were topped with fresh cream and crushed maltesers - gorgeous.

To begin with, don't let the name of the cafe confuse you... yes, it IS a dairy with great ice…read morecream... but it also serves food, including sandwiches, scones, tea, and breakfast (i've uploaded a pic of the menu). Yelp has rejected my recommendation of calling it Scottish Food or a Cafe and has kept it listed simply as Ice Cream and Frozen Yogurt (neither of which I've tried here yet). There is some good food in Perth even though you may have to pay a bit more for it than you would in the bigger cities of Scotland. But just outside Perth, you find some farm shops with some incredible locally sourced food. Stewart Tower Dairy is one of these. Most people would have found this place either by word of mouth or from signs on the A9. I actually discovered this place whilst road biking with a friend. And wow.... so glad I know about Stewart Tower. I have only stopped here on my bike rides and they're very welcoming to cyclists, even sweaty ones. The staff here are super friendly. They also have a nice shop inside with local and/or gourmet foods. Most of the time I have had just a pot of tea with a scone. I have learnt recently to ask for the Tea Pigs Everyday blend. It's even better than the regular house blend, so I would recommend trying that or one of the other specialty teas. On another stop, I was trying to decide whether or not to push through and have a late lunch at home or whether I should have lunch at Stewart Tower Dairy.... AND... maybe I gave in and had lunch there. This was partly to do with the fact that the menu had minestrone that day, and I definitely didn't have homemade soup at my flat. So I had to have it. And I ordered a Coronation Chicken sandwich to go along with it, served on malted brown bread. It was SOOO good. I often feel like Coronation Chicken is a good test run for sandwiches for any cafe, and I wasn't disappointed. So... my advice is as followed: if you're in Perth and have a car, then there are two places you should check out. Stewart Tower Dairy is one of them. And you won't be disappointed. It's about a 10-15 minute drive out of town. And if you happen to have just biked through Little Glenshee, then reward yourself with a scone, tray bake or some ice cream. No need to push through and bike home without a break ;) Oh and did I mention they have goats and lambs for the kids to see outside? So bring the kids, but maybe not on your bike.
