Finally found cannoli here, ended a 3 month search of Glasgow for them and my niece was delighted and of course we had to stop for an ice cream too, so many options and so delicious!! Only downside can be waiting on a seat when it's busy but the staff are very friendly and well the ice cream is just yum!!

This was third on the list of places to buy coffee for our MSc experiment. For a Wednesday morning it was relatively quiet, I have to say. You walk in and the first thing you see is the ice cream on display. I have had it before and it was tasty, but I had to almost sell my kidney to afford it. Actually that was only the second thing I noticed. The first thing I noticed was the line divider so that the take away people go somewhere else than the eat-in people. To be honest, it wasn't the clearest thing, and as there was nobody else ordering I walked up to where the staff was congregating. The staff were friendly, but didn't pay that much attention. I explained what I wanted, three small black coffees. At first they only charged me for one - and I looked at them quizzically before they laughed and gave me the remaining two. Initially they were a little surprised when I ordered three coffees, already ceearrying six coffees (Starbucks and Avenue G had been first on my list), and after I had explained the experiment they asked me to come back to tell them the results (pending!). The sweets treats look fab, and the ice cream is very tasty but it is definitely on the expensive side. It's quiet inside and even on a Wednesday morning, quite busy with people drinking coffee and working in the windows.

Nardini's is wonderful. They serve delicious, smooth, creamy ice cream to sit in or take away and they have a great range of "proper" flavours. Now, bare with me, but a lot of ice cream places seem to have a lot of novelty flavours, like Irn Bru ice cream (don't try it, just trust me, please) and every different kind of chocolate bar blended into vanilla. I get it, that can be fun, but if you have that at the expense of say, raspberry ripple, pistachio or stracciatella I'm going to be disappointed. So while Nardini's do have these more novelty options they also have a lot of the classics. Their strawberry ice cream is one of the best I've tried and so is the black cherry and the stracciatella when they have them. I'm often tempted by their sorbets too, which are great but super sweet - you don't need more than one scoop. If you're somehow not in an ice cream mood (what's wrong with you? Are you ok?) then they do also have some lovely baked treats and delicious coffee. If you are in an ice cream mood will you come with me? Because I want to try one of their sundaes and I won't be able to finish it by myself.

I love the yummy ice cream with fresh fruits.

I mean, later, when you've already bought a cone you can worry about consistency and about how well it even pulls those flavours off, but surely if they don't have the flavour you want you'll just go elsewhere. Crolla has a great range of flavours. As well as all the old classic flavours it has a few more exciting options as well as a small number of sorbets - perfect if you want something just a little more refreshing. Fortunately, they do manage to get the flavours right (at least all the ones I've tasted) and the consistency of the ice cream is always creamy perfection. They do so-called "real food" too. I recommend their student lunch deal which is a soup and half sandwich for a very reasonable price. The pizza cones look great too but I don't think I'd have any idea how to actually eat one. I'll try eventually and get back to you on that. Their coffee is pretty good too but really, you're here for the ice cream and the ice cream is good. Treat yourself to an extra scoop.

I haven't had ice cream in months either so I was super stoked! But as I was approaching the place with my partner and friends, we were greeted with a whole ton of MESS. Dirty sticky tables outside, covered in used napkins and to-go gelato cups that had dried up melted ice cream in it (can I say EW?). Seems like the staff don't care much about cleanliness??? We had to clean everything up before sitting at one of the tables outside, which really did make my impression of the place quite bad. When you go in, there are tables and benches that are the same; not cleaned and not cleared from cups and napkins. Is this place dirty or something? :/ I have no complaints about the staff member who served us though! He was a friendly lad! He laughed at me when I asked if the toppings and sauce for my gelato were free, and then proceeded to generously coat my gelato with thousands of sprinkles and chocolate sauce. I laughed in delight as I paid 3pounds for such a wonderful portion of ice cream. I also really liked the ice cream itself! Best way to describe - SINFUL. Guilt with every bite, but it's so worth it hohohohoho! The only comment is, please maintain the cleanliness of the premises! I mean, I'm not a picky person, I don't mind seeing tables uncleared if the staff members make an effort to clean it when they notice new customers coming in, but they saw us put our stuff down, they saw us sit outside with the dirty crap and sticky stuff on the table, and yet they just shrugged it off and left us to clear everything ourselves. Indifferent much?

Efficient if not pleasant in terms of service, a variety of youngsters delivering plates in a timely fashion, volume rises as the night goes on thanks to high ceilings, but not so much as to drown out the bold flavors of Beef cooked like Pot Roast beneath Mushroom Gravy or tender Pork Loin kissed with Miso and Sage. Unable to choose just one Dessert, a downfall of dining solo, Chef Craig Nelson and Jonathan MacDonald prove equally well-suited for sweets as they are for savories with both the Financier and Trifle finding sweet yet fresh balance while incorporating varying textures and temperatures.

We chose the trout, crab salad, spiced cauliflower (really good), sea bream (delish), and crispy haddock (nice). I chose the salt baked beatroot for my dessert-flavorful and not too sweet. My wife had the chocolate cremeux that she really loved. Our server was such a friendly person and her way of communicating definitely added good feelings to our experience. It was graduation time for the University of Glasgow and we saw many families with their students. For me, that's a really good sign. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Located just off the Finnieston strip next to Ox & Finch, we actually tried going here last year but for some reason they were closed on a Saturday night so we went to Mother India instead. A group of 5 of us visited for dinner last night. The restaurant is pretty small actually but not pokey - no one was seated right beside us and the music gives it a good atmosphere so you don't feel like people are listening to your conversation. The menu is really impressive - I pretty much wanted to eat every single dish. As Rocco G says, it's not your usual Italian dishes on the menu and you can be a little more adventurous here (although there is a section of traditional Italian dishes which are more common in the UK like bolognese, carbonara, lasagne). There's lots of eggplant/aubergine (drool) and loads of delicious-sounding seafood, as well as nod to Scottish folk with a chicken breast stuffed with haggis. There's even a good range of vegetarian dishes. I went for the scallops to start (£9.95) which were beautifully plump (is there any other way to describe a good scallop), served in a lovely tangy Aurum liqueur sauce. For the price I thought 3 scallops was very reasonable, and really enjoyed how perfectly they were cooked. For main I couldn't go past the gnocchi with king prawns in a white wine sauce (£11.95). It was a huge portion (too large, if I'm honest) but overall a really wonderful dish packed with flavour but not smothered in sauce, and really letting the puffs of gnocchi shine. There was one main large prawn (in the shell) and then smaller prawns scattered around the dish - again, for the price I thought this was really good value. I even went for dessert (something I rarely do) as I quite fancied the tiramisu (I think around £5). Again, great sized portion, lovely presentation and had a nice boozy/coffee kick to it. I couldn't eat it all so they happily popped it in a container for me to take home (guess what I'm having for lunch today?!). Service was great - we were looked after by two staff members who were both friendly and helpful. There was a mix up with the mains as one of our party didn't receive his, and they only realised as they were bringing out our dishes. I thought the way it was handled was really nice - they offered him some bread while he waited, and then took his dessert off the bill to say sorry. Life lesson: If Rocco G says it's good, it's going to be good.
