Double nougat and one of many sundae options

Popped in here on a whim but was definitely pleased. Cafe style seating areas both upstairs and downstairs. Popped in for ice cream obviously and was not disappointed. Went with the classic double nougat (not the easiest to eat in public) Would go back in a heartbeat but those portions are not good for the waistline!!

I think I am going to say I am a fan of this place. They do Pizza Cones. It's a dough cone with cheese and (in my case) chicken... and it's pretty special. Rafael suggested we should get this when we were out on our post office/bank outings, and so we ordered the groupon deal thing, and then we walked over to Crolla's. In the midst of a semi-decent day and graduation week, this place was pretty packed. However, Crolla's to the rescue because that have a pretty cool seating area down the stairs. After we had ordered and the girl telling us that it would be about 20 minutes for our cones (they had to be freshly made? Yum!). So we took a seat downstairs. Their wifi is locked but there was a man working on his laptop next to us, so loudly, inconspicuously obviously, we were wondering about the password. As it turns out, said man was the manager of Crolla's and not only did he give us the wifi password, which meant that i could check in and get all excited about the check-in offer (£3.95 for a 7 piece breakfast with tea or coffee! Bargain!) but also the £5 worth of free ice cream you can get when paying with something with a Z (I posted a picture/tip) AND the free bluetooth offers you get sent to your phone when you walk past the shop and your bluetooth is turned on. Thankfully, you only get a notification once - however it's usually a free coffee etc. This already works when you're standing next to Nardini's... Muhaha. The pizza cones are pretty amazing. Hot, be careful, and tasty. Adventurous, if you will. The chicken was cooked wonderfully, the cheese was stringy and it wasn't greasy! The deal also came with some ice cream so we both ordered the mint chocolate chip - it lacked something for me if I am honest, but the chocolate chips were cool and if you're looking for an ice cream that isn't stupidly sweet, then this one is for you. Otherwise, they have a million and three flavours to choose from and for me personally, I cannot wait to try more of them. They actually sell the ice cream all over Scotland now, so keep your eyes open :)

Absolutely delicious ice cream at Crolla's. Toffee and vanilla! And sprinkles of course!

The ice cream is absolutely delicious here. There are always plenty of flavours to choose from, and if there is one you've never tried before you're welcome to taste test it. They staff are very friendly and the parlour is lovely and clean. My favourite place to come during spring and summer. They not only do ice cream, but lunch food as well, such as soup and grilled sandwiches. I've had a grilled chicken sandwich before and that was also very tasty. I would definitely recommend this place either for a nice lunch and always for dessert!

If you drop in, give this a try. Cookie dough cold stone plate.

Smile!!! It wont hurt you know?…read more That is what I felt like saying to the staff at Nardini's. Rarely have I ever seen a more unhappy looking bunch of staff in.... well... ever? I am a HUGE fan of ice cream and the more piled high it comes in glass dessert bowls the better. I love loads of flavours, toppings and sauce. The idea of a knickerbocker glory brings back great childhood memories. You can get a great dessert here, but sadly the desserts are let down by a variety of other things. Firstly the extremely unfriendly staff who would struggle to raise a smile even if the café was flooded with a gang of ten comedians giving out laughing gas. Then there is the general look of the place, it is all a bit run down and...... well... fusty perhaps? Finally the price. £7.95 for a dessert that would elsewhere cost about £5.95 max. If your going to sell desserts at a premium due to the name at least make the whole experience when you visit the café a good one. If you really want to go, you will probably enjoy the actual ice cream, my tablet one was tasty enough. I just doubt you would want to go back as it is missing the extra little touches that make you a fan of a place.

No Table Service…read more The name Nardinis occupies a special place in my memory as does its iconic art-deco cafe at Largs seafront. I've partaken of the occasional take-away scoop of ice-cream since they got their prime spot on the Byres Road, and it tasted just as good as it did in the olden days! Never been lucky enough to bag a spot inside their cafe before as its always been rammed, so the other week when I spotted a few empty tables I insisted we head inside for an ice-cream and a cuppa. I was a little surprised to find no table service at the cafe but perhaps that helps them get customers in and out quicker. Takeaway comestibles are served from the counter at the door. Customers who are sitting-in make their order at the rear counter. Its all very clean and comfortable and the air-conditioning is just at the right setting. The coffee was as good as you'd expect from an established Italian cafe, but for the first time I was a little disappointed with my ice-cream. I chose the Daim Bar flavour but there was so little of it in the ice-cream that it just tasted like vanilla. The other two were very happy with their choices but I'd have preferred a Mcdonalds McFlurry at a fraction of the price. Ho hum.

I started out with a mixed salad, it had chopped greens, a layer of tomatoes, red onions and drizzled with balsamic vinegar, not only was this mixed salad good looking it was great tasting too! For the main meal I went with Pollo Birra & Carciofi, which was pan roasted chicken breast with red onions, rosemary and artichokes in a sauce made from Italian handcrafted beer. Oh my! The chicken was so tender and good, the flavors of everything blended well, before I knew my meal was gone. I knew since I was indulging I needed to keep it moving and dive into dessert, after checking out the yummy menu I went with the Tronchetto Al Cioccolato- it was an Sicilian style chocolate cake, rolled together with Italia Amaretti & cookies served with nocciolate ice cream, oh sweet bliss! Every bite was just divine! Service was great and friendly. A truly great dinning experience, Tarantino offers creative Italian dishes.

Located just off the Finnieston strip next to Ox & Finch, we actually tried going here last year but for some reason they were closed on a Saturday night so we went to Mother India instead. A group of 5 of us visited for dinner last night. The restaurant is pretty small actually but not pokey - no one was seated right beside us and the music gives it a good atmosphere so you don't feel like people are listening to your conversation. The menu is really impressive - I pretty much wanted to eat every single dish. As Rocco G says, it's not your usual Italian dishes on the menu and you can be a little more adventurous here (although there is a section of traditional Italian dishes which are more common in the UK like bolognese, carbonara, lasagne). There's lots of eggplant/aubergine (drool) and loads of delicious-sounding seafood, as well as nod to Scottish folk with a chicken breast stuffed with haggis. There's even a good range of vegetarian dishes. I went for the scallops to start (£9.95) which were beautifully plump (is there any other way to describe a good scallop), served in a lovely tangy Aurum liqueur sauce. For the price I thought 3 scallops was very reasonable, and really enjoyed how perfectly they were cooked. For main I couldn't go past the gnocchi with king prawns in a white wine sauce (£11.95). It was a huge portion (too large, if I'm honest) but overall a really wonderful dish packed with flavour but not smothered in sauce, and really letting the puffs of gnocchi shine. There was one main large prawn (in the shell) and then smaller prawns scattered around the dish - again, for the price I thought this was really good value. I even went for dessert (something I rarely do) as I quite fancied the tiramisu (I think around £5). Again, great sized portion, lovely presentation and had a nice boozy/coffee kick to it. I couldn't eat it all so they happily popped it in a container for me to take home (guess what I'm having for lunch today?!). Service was great - we were looked after by two staff members who were both friendly and helpful. There was a mix up with the mains as one of our party didn't receive his, and they only realised as they were bringing out our dishes. I thought the way it was handled was really nice - they offered him some bread while he waited, and then took his dessert off the bill to say sorry. Life lesson: If Rocco G says it's good, it's going to be good.
