Dion was the first person to respond to my message about fixing my mom's sliding doors that weren't locking properly. I called and he was able to come out to my mom's place the next day. He fixed both doors and a minor electrical issue. He was really responsive and friendly over the phone. This was the third time that I worked with Dion Construction. My husband and I are extremely happy with the way our bathroom turned out. We are so impressed with the way Dion and his crew was able to bring to life the vision we had for our bathroom. The only advice I would have for anyone who works with Dion is to make sure you have a clear understanding of what you want done on your project. Dion is not a designer or someone who is going to give you recommendations on materials. You have to do that on your own. So be prepared to do some work on your end on how you want your project to look and feel. He is knowledgeable and can tell you want works and what don't on some things but not all. So do your research! I love working with Dion mostly because he is trustworthy. I have never felt like I was being taken advantage of. He is responsive and answers the phone every time you have a question or concern. He is fair and honest which is hard to find sometimes in a contractor. We will be using him again. We found Dion via Yelp. We reached out to several companies. After getting all the quotes we were initially put off by Dion's quote. Everyone else's quote was at least 3x's his. But we moved forward with Dion's offer. The project was to retile a small 1/2 bath we have downstairs. Dion was very informative and communicative about the process and what will be done, what is covered, and what costs extra. Antonio and his son show up to do the work. Both were very polite and informative about the process and work, often pulling me in to inform of options, issues, and potential roadblocks. Stay away and run as fast as you can!!! I can't believe there are people in this world that can operate the way this man does! Unfortunately I am having to hire a lawyer to get money back which I paid him $36,028.30. On Jan. 1, 2020 one of my tenants caused a fire in the unit and unfortunately 2 of the units were damaged and burned. This was an insurance claim I had to make and I had to get 3 estimates for the insurance Co. One of the Contractors that gave me an estimate was Dion's Construction. After a few months and back and forth with the Insurance co., I decided to hire Dion's construction and on 2/5/20 we signed a written contract for work to be done. He advised me he had a crew that would handle everything from A-Z and not to worry about anything, so I trusted him. Being this was an insurance claim, my insurance gave me the check for work to be done but had my mortgage co. on the check along with me being I still had a lender. The money from State Farm had to go to the lender and getting the money from the lender for the contractor was a little difficult to get and all the hoops they wanted to have. Dion's construction did provide what they needed but I did not realize he did not have workers comp. and on his license it verifies he has no employees. He was giving a check from me that the lender gave me to give him for $10,000 2/25/20 and he finally starting working on the project on 3/1/20 which was 2 units. There were electrical issues he had to deal with and I chose to add canned lightings to both of the units and he charged me another $1225 which I did give him a check for. I would stop by from time to time and notice he would never be there and would have a worker or 2 and 1 of them did not speak English and I was concerned if he knew what to do being, since he could not understand who I was and what I was asking him. In the middle of March, Dion's Construction walked off the job and advised he would need more money to continue to work. Grant it, the mitigation Co. and asbestos Co. had did the majority of the clean up and demolition. The mitigation co. was paid $6500 and the asbestos co. was paid $1125. I advised Dion I would work on getting another check but why he was not continuing to work and he needed more money? I finally got my lender to give another draw which they did for $24,803.30 and when I got the check and met Dion to give him the check, I advised this was about 80% of the money paid and the job is barley 10-15% done and to please not ask for any more money to the job is complete which he stated no problem, he would take care of it. The only reason I agreed to give him that much up front because it was a hassle for the lender to release funds and would take weeks for each draw and I did not want to keep delaying this project anymore. Well that's when things got bad after he got most of his money. I went to the job site in early April and asked if plumbing was going to be updated and he said that was not part of the bid and after I spoke to the insurance they advised that would be separate. He did charge me another $1000 for updating the plumbing and when I went to see his work on April 4th, I noticed the copper lines were not straight and he did do the plumbing drain to shower but left a mess of everything and I do not know if a licensed plumber did that work since he is yet to show me any proof of his workers or their license numbers. I called him on April 6th, 2020 and asked why no one was there working, he told me the city of Pittspurg shut him down and he was not to be working and then went to tell me because the City of Pittspurg told him that, he got another job in San Leandro, Ca and sent his crew there to work, which he stated was closer to where they lived. I advised we have a contract and my housing is a necessity being section 8 tenant and another government program tenant which is First Place for Youth. He told me the governor told him not to work and if I wanted his crew to go back, I would need to call them and have them approve. I did call the next day and spoke to Casey down at the City of Pittspurg and advised my contractor I hired said he was shut down and can not work at my property at 186 Madoline St.? I explained the situation with being a fire in Jan and govt. program tenants and it was essential to get these units back in livable condition. Casey advised he would make an exception and would allow the contractor to continue to work. When I called Dion on April 10th to explain I had good news that I got approval for him to work on my property which we have a contract for and he was paid about 80% of the work already, he said he would not and he needed written proof from them. We went back and forth and he then hung up on me, which was very unprofessional.I texted him and called him back a few times to please call me and it was unprofessional to hang up on me, being his client. After no response I sent an email to cancel our contract on 4/11/20. Stay away!!! read more

I messaged Dion about needing someone to install a window AC over the weekend.He responded the same day!!!- and asked for a picture of the window and scheduled a visit for that Monday :)! Dion seems like a nice enough guy. Came out and gave a fair quote for tiling my 2nd floor walkdeck. I gave him the job, and scheduled time for his one man crew to come out to do it. The day before, Dion came out to give me the contract and determine what materials they needed to procure. At this point, he realized the only way to the walkdeck was through our home (said he assumed there was an external stairway to it, even though we came through the house to get to it originally). Immediately started getting sketchy about the job. That's when things went sideways. I agreed to bring all the tile upstairs by myself rather than paying him $300 for day laborers to do it by his request. He agreed to come back later that afternoon with materials to start the job the following morning. He never came back. Totally ghosted me. Is no longer responding to emails through Yelp either. Not sure if he's new to this (he had a t-shirt made up for his company, but that's not hard these days), but he's going to have to up the professionalism if he wants to stay in business. read more

After writing the review things turned for the worst and his work turn out to be extremely bad, unprofessional, unorganized and he threatened to put a lien on my property when he was not paid when he thought he should be paid.None of the work on my house was don't by him it was done cheaply by his Hispanic workers and he also never reviewed any of the paperwork/ inspection on work that needed to be done by FHA in order for the job to be completed. This made my experience as a first time home buy a horrible experience and I was very disappointed because I thought he was someone I could trust and would treat me like family but I wasn't. And when things was not going as planned/( following the FHA contract) he became extremely impatient and I was no not reading the contract we both signed. the FHA consultant had to come by my property multiple times to ensure the work was completed thank god I had them because if I was not using FHA I most like would have been screwed over all smh! The only good thing about this contractor is that he do a good inspection on properties before buying, other that then that work is not so great.
