Title: They added the guy who wrecked my car to my policy…read more No, seriously. Review: Where do I even begin? I had Direct Auto Insurance when my car was wrecked by someone who wasn't on my policy. I filed a claim like any normal customer would... and instead of helping me, they added the guy who wrecked my car to my policy--without my permission. That's not a joke. I never authorized it, never requested it, and it took forever to get him removed. My assigned claims adjuster, Ray Bravo, called me once and then completely disappeared. I left several voicemails. Nothing. I even contacted his manager, Julian Patino, and left two more messages--still no reply. At that point, I was ghosted by my own insurance company. The craziest part? The other driver's insurance company (Crum & Forster) handled everything with more care and professionalism than Direct Auto ever did. I wasn't even their customer, and yet they got everything done quickly and respectfully. Meanwhile, Direct Auto left me to deal with a wrecked car, tow yard fees, and a hijacked insurance policy. I've since canceled and moved on. Cheap rates mean nothing when your insurance company won't even call you back and plays fast and loose with your policy.

You can get your policy information online, setup automatic payments, as well as one time payments. Of course, this should be standard these days. My big issue is with their claims department. Trying to get a fair assessment of your damage was a fight for us. They initially low balled the estimated cost to fix the vehicle. We ended up making several phone calls trying to get a fair payout to get your vehicle fixed. With my son's specific claim, Direct Auto finally ended up sending an adjuster out to write up the damage. The adjuster argued with the shop over damage to the car and the cost to fix. I have dealt with Farm Bureau, Geico and State Farm in the past on claims and never had the headache we experienced with Direct Auto.

Written correspondence comes out of Clinton Iowa. When I googled to find the largest employers in Clinton, Iowa. Wilcac does not even register on the list and the last employer on the list had 14 employees! Yet, Wilcac shows domicile in Lousiville, KY. Riddle me that batman? B. Filed a claim and sent all the paper work requested in return receipt request - arrived July 14th. l called Wilcac and the only information I could obtain was that it took 10 business days to process. C. Called on the 28th of July and was instructed that their system was down. D. Called on the 29th of July and was instructed that they were running behind. Rep said I needed to send in information. I asked the rep to look at the cover letter that packet of completed forms and death certificates that should have been scanned in. Rep came back and said everything was there but the claim was in processing. I asked to speak to someone in processing and was informed that processing does not talk to the public. I then requested to speak to the reps supervisor. When the supervisor did get on the line I was provided no answers just the same - we're running behind. E. I called again on a August 7th, same song and dance from WIlcac rep. I asked for a supervisor, no supervisor available. Request supervisor to call me back when a supervisor was available - to date no response. F. I received a letter from Wilcac on Friday afternoon the 7th of August dated July 6th - standard letter with another death claim form asking me to complete it and send it in. G. On Saturday the 8th of August I received two letters from Wilcac. One notified me that they were processing the claim. The second letter notifying me that they needed a certified death certificate with the cause of death, manner of death, date of birth and social security number. I checked the insured and primary beneficiary death certificates that were sent in. All information was included although I do not see what difference cause of death and manner of death have to do with a claim of death? I can tell you this from 34 years of insurance experience. It is my conclusion that this company is ran by a group of juveniles whose primary objective is not to process paperwork in a timely manner but to quantify their position by finding hurdles to delay the process and avoid providing answers to claimants who deserve and desire answers. An insurance company is only as good as the people who work and represent the carrier and Wilcac Life Insurance sits at the bottom of the barrel. If I could give no stars I would. FYI - Wilcac is owned by Wilton Re Holdings Ltd who also owns Texas Life Insurance Company. I suggest avoiding both insurance carriers at all cost. Life insurance is for the insured providing a benefit to the listed beneficiaries, not for the benefit of the carrier.
