Really good vet and loving people. Truly care for their animals. We take all our animals there, even in a emergency they have helped us. Can't thank them enough for all their hard work, also work with rescue organisations too. read more

I've never seen so many dogs yelp and leap and wag their tails with delight at the very sight of…read moreseeing their vet. Dogs aren't meant to like this place, it's not normal. But they do, very much, which says a lot. Here you're likely to run into all sorts of animals, and not just your everyday domestic kind, because they also look after exotic birds, reptiles and even native animals. As well as providing general veterinary services, the University of Melbourne Veterinary Hospital also takes care of more serious issues regarding your pet with specialised services in surgery, anaesthesia, radiology, clinical pathology and neurology. This is were I come in. I had to bring my cat in to run some tests, unfortunately he wasn't as happy to be here like everyone else. The neurologist was very careful not to exacerbate his fear, and in fact spent a little time just stroking him to make him feel more at ease. After the consultation I was told that if anything were to come up, no matter how small, or if I was worried about anything at all, I should call them immediately so they can keep track of his condition. I even got a call from the neurologist the following week, who had just called to check up on how things were going. It's small things like this that make

I got fed paying for nothing and in the end took him back to my vet (who was on holiday at the time) and he had severe liver damage. In the end he was put down but I paid $1500 for nothing at this rubbish clinic!! 7 years later I took my dog there for another emergency. I was already reluctant to go but unfortunately I had no other choice as the 2 other clinics near me were closed. They charged me again A LOT of money for colourful bandages and medicine that should be half the price!! They are an absolute joke and staff call themselves veterinarians?? Please!! Give me a break!!

I bought medication for my cat straight after the consultation and paid $45 for a 3ml Meloxicam; I thought that was expensive but didn't think I was going to be ripped off by them, so I paid what they asked. Once home I decided to check the price online and found a couple of places selling the exact same medication for $9., so over 400% more expensive. I wish someone had advised me. Apart from that, Vets seem to be good and the staff is friendly.

The reception staff are so super friendly and are happy to answer any questions new anxious fur-parents may have about their fur-child. The vets are really lovely and were so gentle with my little baby. Dr Ross, who we saw on the second visit for Willis' final vaccinations was particularly awesome. He gave us great advice as new fur-parents and was really reassuring and calming. Willis didn't even yelp, cry or bark once and he got a needle and a nasal vaccination! Amazing. This vet also offers a free, yes FREE, puppy school on Wednesday evenings. We haven't been yet as it was closed over the xmas period, but will be taking Willis next week when it starts up again! So glad this is our local vet! Highly recommend it for all pet owners of Richmond!

They were both thorough and soft-handed with our kitten, took plenty of time to explain training techniques, talked us through her growth stages and recommended affordable products to keep her healthy and happy over the years. What impressed me most was the doctors' sweet bedside manner and affection for cats, which we haven't experienced elsewhere. The quality of care, quiet comfort at reception (they use Feliway to help keep patients calm), and little toys they send in the mail make this the only place we'll take our furry friend.

Dr. Richard and all of the vets are incredibly compassionate, knowledgeable and skilled when it comes caring for your feline companions. They also have a cattery facility upstairs if you have to leave your cat overnight for any reason, and though they take them if you're going away for a weekend as well, I prefer a larger place so they can walk around. They do have catteries they recommend, however. Simply, they love cats and it shows.
