They charged me for an additional 2+ weeks after I cancelled, despite me specifically saying I wanted it cancelled that day because "it's their policy" to run through entire billing cycles (something no other tv, internet, phone service, etc. does, just these thieves). I had NO contract. It took 3 calls (during which the "documented" and did nothing) to even get my billing dates (I had e-pay so never saw my bills). I sent a prorated check which they cashed on the same day as my FOURTh call at which point someone finally opened a case, promising a call in 7-10 days. Nope. Instead they sent the full amount to collections. FIFTH call and they are sending my case to the back office, whatever that means. Their customer service is a joke. I spent 50 minutes online and on the phone trying to simply cancel my service. I kept being told I had to speak with a supervisor, although I would thinking cancelling service should be something any agent should be capable of handling. The first supervisor I spoke with hung up or disconnected the phone call immediately after I stated what I wanted to do. The final supervisor that I managed to speak with was an online chat. AT&T Direct TV is the worst!!! On April 3 I told them to turn my service off immediately. They turned it off April 6th and still charged me for the whole month. One agent told me my balance was zero, then I got an Email saying I owed $324.91. I paid the whole amount and I will never do business with the again. read more

I loved Directv up until they switched to AT&T. Now the customer service is horrible (maybe it would be better if I was an AT&T costumer). I called before Christmas on the 20th with an issue over NFL Sunday ticket. I checked my programming in August and didn't see NFL Sunday ticket listed so I contacted them to confirm I didn't have it because we didn't want it this year. They confirmed I did not have it. In December I noticed a charge for 5 of 6 installments of $48 for NFL Sunday ticket. I called and after much back and forth they only refunded me $48 and supposedly canceled it. After talking with someone else who had this same issue I decided to call back. After a long hold I was told a supervisor would call me back and here it is 7 days later and I'm calling them again. I also checked my current bill to confirm I got my credit. I did along with the 6th billing for the program they supposedly canceled. Today, after a shorter wait I got a supervisor who wanted to know why I needed a supervisor when I just talked to one on the 20th . She seemed more willing to help when I told her my contract was up and I was willing to cancel tonight. I was informed that they didn't completely cancel the programming and she sent me to a billing specialist (3rd time's a charm). He was surprised that it wasn't canceled and a full refund issued when I called on the 20th because it is not listed on my programming and I shouldn't have been billed for it at all. Even told me it all depends on the department you talk to as to what they tell you because you have to get the correct department. On a positive note and the reason this is 2 stars and not 1. José was very helpful and did issue a full refund as well as add a 12 month promotion for $50 off and double checked that there was no NFL Sunday ticket to insure I didn't have this issue next year. Xfinity offered same premium package (without NFL ticket of course) 4 TVs, Plus high speed internet at 1GB down! For about the same price. XFinity's TV controls are far superior to DirectTV. They both are RF (radio frequency) which means you don't have to point the clicker. You can hold fast forward on recorded shows to speed through commercials on DirectTV however on XFinity the commercials are marked on a timeline and can be skipped in one click. Moved from Verizon FIOS to DirecTV to gain the benefits of the AT&T deal. Installation was less than smooth. My cable from the dish to the house still hasn't been buried (Almost a week now). The promised service call that was scheduled between 2-4 (per my 45 min wait time on the phone it was supposed to be 12-4) Showed early and didn't communicate as to when they would return. Another 45 min wait on hold led me to a supposed as-yet-to-be returned phone call to correct all my issues. 48 hours later, still no call. My issue is on demand issue, i have been dealing with on demand not workinf for over a year. It works when it wants to work but when you need it to work it never does. I have talked to so many directtv employees ans techs and its the same bullshit story everytime. One manager compansated my account for Inconvenience, once i checked my account it was a $7 credit. The service provider SkyWire/DirectTV is not the provider, you would want service from. Should, you not sign up for a 2 year contract, than this company is asking for a "Up Front Deposit" of $300.00, plus $99.00 per cable box (to be returned after the contract ends) a total cost ranging from $400.00 to $500.00 and up (depending on how many boxes). This is for a one year contract, should you agree to the 2 year contract the "Up Front Cost" will be waived. If, I could give a negative 0 star, I would. This is not how a cable provider should do business, most providers use installments (if, you're a new customer) and a small fee for renting their equipment. The developers aren't providing a choice of other cable providers and are only allowing SkyWire/DirectTV; this type of "over pricing for cable service" to stand; is not a decent way to treat your residents/customers.... read more

I must say you get what you pay for most definitely. We had Verizon before we moved. But where we moved to Verizon only had phone and wireless service. What ashame? So we decided to go to another cable provider. Which we figured was too expensive and not as good as Verizon. Then agrees to Directv, because it seemed reasonable in price. But after having it for a month realized it was a big mistake. Not worth the time or money. Stay with an actual cable provider. Also we had to get internet service and with who? If I could leave less than one star, I would; in the two years that I have dealt with this company they have overcharged me every chance they got and I had to go back and show them my bill and prove that I paid what I paid and they still tried every chance they got to overcharge me. If you pay less than a hundred percent of the bill and by the way I've only paid less than the entire bill 3 times my 2 year contract which will be up in December of this year but in the few times that I wasn't able to pay the whole bill they immediately tacked on a fee for cancelling the service, returning the receivers etc etc I never told them at any time that I wanted to cancel my service and it took no less than between 30 minutes and an hour to get that taken off of my bill even though I had proof via my paper bills/statements; they automatically tack on charges that you never incurred (cancellation fees, equipment fees,etc) and they're hoping that you don't want to go through the aggravation of getting it taken back off the bill; I think that's how they make most of their money & it's not fair and it's not right. read more

Im in Richmond Virginia. This is not directly against Direct TV but their sub contractor VIASAT Exede (Satelite Internet Provider). I switched from Cable in late January to VIASAT salelite internet. I was told at the time, my internet speed would be better than cable, so I switched. Internet speed is HORRIBLE and has data limits. Speed went from 12 MBPS down to 1-5 MBPS. So bad, I had to go to library to use internet. So with 30 days I tried to cancel only to find out they have NO TRIAL period and my charge for less than 30 days was over $340. They automatically deduct from checking account, and I instructed them no to do so, as I would pay another way upon receipt of final bill. I went to pay final bill today only to find out they disregarded my instructions and would not let me talk directly to a billing supervisor. HORRIBLE COMPANY, HORRIBLE SERVICE, DOn't recomment.
