Initially, we believed the mold remediation in our crawlspace was handled well, but it became clear that not all areas were addressed, even with the involvement of their so-called third-party hygienist who overlooked hard-to-reach spots. They merely placed a new vapor barrier over the old one without repairing it or securing it with tape. I suspect the builder, Michael Nigh, instructed them to proceed this way. It's disappointing that they chose not to act ethically. My mother battled cancer, and I have an immunocompromised condition. This is just another example of an unethical company in Idaho. I am changing my rating from a one star to a three star, not because of anything Disaster Kleenup in Nampa did, rather because of their home base in Utah and Trace Larsen who was very professional and mediated an acceptable ending to this nightmare. Disaster Kleenup needs more employees like him. Ones who know how to communicate. We have been about as patient as humans can be with Disaster Kleenup, SafeCo./Liberty Mutural and Premier Alliance. Our flood mitigation started over a year ago. Disaster Kleenup ruined our laundry room, kitchen, dining room, hall and office floors. Their employees put a red duct tape down on our floors for over six weeks. Not a blue or green painters tape that easily releases. They placed a white styrofoam runner down and taped it to our wood and tile floors. They put a sticky back plastic to our bran new carpet leaving behind a sticky mess that our shoes and feet stuck to. This left dirt stuck permanently to our new, expensive office carpet. Our tiles and wood floors have no color or sealant on them where you chose to place the tape and remove later. Disaster Kleenup removed a vent from our crawl space and never replaced it for 8 months. After me threatening them, they then had some inexperienced guy put boards and a vent in that do not come close to the original setup we have on all other vents into our homes crawl space and he never primed or painted it. Disaster Kleenup still has not repaired the tile in our pantry where their employees cut the grout out to dry the flood. Disaster Kleenup employees removed our sump-pump warning system from our office closet wall, I supose it is hanging by its wires under our crawl space, where a 65 year old man can not go? Disaster Kleenup has not replaced the sump-pump warning monitor to date. Disaster Kleenup has never replaced the baseboard in the pantry or office. We have sent Disaster Kleenup the estimates to have our floors repaired and they refuse to respond at all, much less in a timely manner. Disaster Kleenup has known othe floors were damaged and they have refused to find a company that would repair the tile and wood. We did find a company and Disaster Kleenup refused to acknowledge we sent them the quote or even respond. My advice to the management of Disaster Kleenup would be, for you to ask your lawyers what the terminology " treble charge" means? We have attempted many times to get Disaster Kleenup to finish the work as well as contacted our insurance company, SafeCo/Liberty Mutural and Premier Alliance. Neither, Disaster Kleenup nor SafeCo/Liberty Mutural and Premier Alliance will or have taken any responsibility in finishing the repairs to the damage Disaster Kleenup's employees did to our home. Disaster Kleenup has knowingly and willingly chosen to ignore the fact they damaged our floors. Disaster Kleenup has knowingly and willingly chosen not to repair the damaged floors in a timely and prudent manor. We have called and written many times. None involved ever respond or even give us the curtesy of a simple phone call. We have to live in and run a business in our home and are moving forward with repairs after the damage which occurred more than a year ago. They truly deserve a one star rating. Our project took 16 months to complete. We sat with no kitchen cabinets for weeks while they said that the cabinets were on order, I finally called their vendor and they were NOT ordered. They then ordered cabinets and they were the wrong color. Toilets and sinks were installed incorrectly and then removed and reinstalled. Every time they did work the walls were damaged, cabinets were scraped. They showed up multiple times with wrong parts and wrong color paint. The whole experience was a 16 month mess. Excellent company with great employees! Our washer house came out of the wall and flooded the house and within 2 days these guys had it all dry. They made the process super easy and the employee Travis let me know everything they were doing at all times. They were very respectful and professional. Unfortunately I needed their service last Saturday at 8 pm when I had a hot water leak damaging my carpet, crawl space and walls. They arrived quickly and began drying the damage. After a couple days they were in contact with my insurance and provided them with an estimate to patch, paint, and re-carpet my living room. I have worked with a lot of other restoration companies and I can tell you that there are always things that can go wrong, but in my experience Disaster Kleenup will do whatever it takes to satisfy their customers. Where can I start, if I could give them 0 stars I would. We had a house fire and they were the company that the fire department called. It all started out good. Joe Blackwood came to our house and got things boarded up that night, but that's where the helpfulness ended. Our house was damaged but it was estimated to be back in our house 3-4 months later but it ended up being 8 months and the only reason it got done was because we fired them. They replaced the trusses in our house that were damaged WITHOUT pulling permits and our house was ticketed with a "Stop Work" sticker on our window. They started on the siding and did an AWFUL job. They asked us to sign a waiver that didn't require them to warranty their work because we wanted them to stagger our siding so that we didn't have vertical boards every 8 feet. We provided them with instructions on how to install the specific product that they chose. They didn't replace the fascia board, the soffit, and instead of replacing the gable completely they took a skill saw an inch away from the top of the gable then attempted to match the new siding with inch left at the top. It doesn't stop there either! Their workers used our toilets but there was no running water because they didn't supply an porta-potty. So it was left to us to go check on the progress of the house to find standing raw sewage in both of our bathrooms. We called and talked with Joe and he promised it would be done, it took until the next week for it to be fixed. Then he ensured us that the toilets would be pulled to avoid this problem again. Joe never had the toilets pulled and two weeks later there was raw sewage again in our master bathroom. We asked them to fix it again and it took another 4 days to have the guest bathroom toilet pulled with sewage still in our master. We finally got them both pulled. We decided to fire them and hire a new contractor but DK still had all of our belongings in their storage. They overcharged our insurance for EVERYTHING including things they never did! Example: we didn't have closet doors but they charged to take those off along with every other door in the house (still never happened). Also, those permits they didn't pull and we got ticketed for? They charged us for them! They held our stuff hostage because they couldn't agree on a price with our insurance (because they were charging for things they never did). It took them two months to get things "right". Then told us our bill was later because we hadn't paid it within a week, still without an itemized invoice sent to our insurance. They damaged our garage door. While I will give them credit for replacing the whole door when they one damaged one panel, they didn't replace it with the insulated panels that were there before the damaged them they also didn't hook it up so now we are responsible for getting it to work again. Although they promised they would insulate them after we paid them we have not heard from them nor am I holding my breath for it! In the end, our insurance paid them just to be done with them. Honestly, there's more I could say but I think you get it by now. Will never recommend this company for anything to anyone, would only advise to stay as far away as possible from them. Side note, JK Construction was able to finish the whole thing in two and a half months. read more

DK was easy to work with at the beginning. They seemed good at mitigation and demo. At the beginning of the project, they would fix their mistakes without blaming the customer. However, as the project was nearing completion, it became clear that they were very poor at the finished products and aesthetic elements. Companies are usually more than willing to address products and/or workmanship of poor quality. During the middle and end of my project, this company was not. Companies are usually very willing to work with the customer to reach an agreeable solution when products have issues or the desired outcome is not achieved. This company was not. They were very difficult to work with during the final stages of the project. In addition, throughout the lengthy project, they worked with my insurance company for payment on various parts of a big job. DK had communicated with me that they were very certain that my insurance policy would fully cover the job. In the end, without ever having to account for how my policy dollars were actually spent, DK charged me thousands of dollars over and above all of the insurance policy dollars they received. My complaints have been submitted to DK, the BBB, and to the Idaho Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division. read more

would not recommend- filed a claim 3 months ago with insurance, it took them no time at all to come out and tear apart my house but it is still not fixed. i have 3 rooms that need repair from water damage, one room was done but the 2 other rooms are still not finished. They contract work out, the plumber they sent was very unprofessional and ripped the brand new flooring then ran out of my house. the painter did a great job and was a very nice and professional person. read more

We recently had the unfortunate experience of our fridge line breaking and leaking into our subfloor. We have Allstate insurance, and they used Disaster Kleenup for our house repairs. The company came out and ripped out our flooring and put out fans and all seemed what would be expected. After the demolition phase, they left us with a hole in our kitchen for a MONTH! I'm pregnant and definitely tripped over the large missing pieces of subfloor too many times. We contacted them a few times, but we were told Allstate was working with them and that may have been the reason for the delay. So we let it go and were patient with this new process. They then attempted to schedule an employee to check if the floor was dry (something they'd already sent a guy to do a month earlier. Poor communication within the company.) Finally they came and installed the floor and I will tell you that they did an excellent job with the installation! We were very happy with the results! Well, except for forgetting to put back all the trim. Again we called to have someone come back out to finish the floor. Finally all was done and it was time to pay our deductible. As my husband is the only one employed with me preparing for a new baby in our home and raising another child under 1, we didn't have the full $1000 required within 60 days (extended from 30 days). So we called to set up a slightly longer repayment plan if it were possible. Even if this was not an option for us, how they handled our request is my primary complaint. The lady told my husband that they had to get paid (we of course want to pay in full) and that if $1000 was not paid in full by June 1st she would put a lien on our house and charge us $800 to do so. Whoa, the threat happened so quickly! Now, we were not trying to get out of repayment or complain at any point before this. We simply are tightly budgeted and were asking kindly what our options were. We treat others as we'd politely like to be treated. It was shocking. **We are the family that if a food order at a restaurant comes out not quite as ordered, we will humbly eat the food and not complain or make a scene. We've both worked in the food industry and retail before receiving our degrees, and try to treat others how we so appreciated being treated in any of our previous jobs. We were both raised to be gracious and humble and kind to others. We don't raise our voices, swear or bring false accusations due to our emotions.** So I just want to put it out there that a different business may not threaten you and possibly will not have as many hiccups between starting and finishing the project. I've never filed a complaint or gone against a business, as my father runs a small business in town and it can be devastating to receive bad reports, but if someone is treated unethically with threats and aggression, then I feel it is fair to share with the community so it doesn't happen to your family. ***After paying them in full, my husband talked with the manager and explained the facts of our experience, that we were satisfied with the work, but concerned with how we were treated when just asking if another payment plan were available. We didn't expect them to be able to give us this extension, but felt that with this type of business, most families don't have an extra $500-$1000 a month on top of their budget. The manager said, "Well you are just mad because you can't pay your bills." We do pay our bills, and try to keep about $1000 in savings for such unexpected things to occur and do not rely on credit cards, but at this time did not have our savings complete as we had some other unexpected things occur and preparing for our second child. Finally, the manager understandably became upset with my husband as he made it clear that we will be sharing these facts with the community, and stated that he has a lawyer on hand for those people that have not paid the company...(which as I stated, my husband pulled out a loan and paid them in full before talking to the manager.) **Maybe this is normal practice, but we felt we would share what didn't feel was handled kindly and ended in threats against our home.** read more

Would not recommend - go with another company if you have filed an insurance claim for your issue. Clean crew were polite, but failed to do their job correctly and with any level of detail. Failed the mold inspection that I paid for inside of 30 seconds "after" their water mitigation clean up because they didn't have it all contained. Right hand didn't know what the left hand was doing half the time. More mold issues found during second mold inspection on backside of leak, so another room had to be torn up simply because they were not thorough enough the first time. Then, I received a copy of the bill. They completely overcharged for their employees hours on the job, "supervisor" time on the job, for the third mold inspection, for equipment not used on the job. I will add that I had to do the research for mold inspection companies so I knew the pricing because I picked the company. Disaster Kleenup will overcharge on everything when an insurance claim is involved. I was here the entire time, so I knew their employees comings and goings. I terminated the relationship before the restoration and became my own general contractor and the job was done correctly!! They also harass their customers with outlandish tactics. I have received harassing calls and emails for a payment they are waiting from my insurance company. You have been warned! Stay away and go with another company.
