We spent a few hours together, in multiple calls, prepping for what type of music we'd like to have at our wedding. We wanted to combine house/electro music (e.g. Fred Again, Daft Punk, Disclosure) with 90s/2000s rap (e.g. Outkast, Kanye, DMX) and classic funk (e.g. Brothers Johnson, Chic, Gap Band) so it was a dance party yet fun and relatable to everyone. Hired Discosapien for Senior Prom. Rex was our DJ and the crowd was not happy. Students submitted well over 100 song requests. Very few were played. The dance floor had its dead moments and Rex had zero interest in engaging with the crowd. Students had written negative reviews according to their experience and Rex contacted the school "demanding" the reviews be taken down. As if it is illegal to give a negative review. Our guests are still RAVING about how fun our dance floor was and about how every song was "so us." We hired Discosapien for our wedding in Boulder this July. He was fantastic. Here's why: He met with me to get to know my preferences well in advance of the event. He allowed me to put down whatever deposit I wanted to hold the event. He always answered his phone when I called and was positive and reassuring. AND The music and lights at our event were spot on. Here's how you know it's good: Our event coordinator, who didn't know him and hadn't worked with him, but goes to, you know, like 50 weddings a year said: "Wow, your DJ was awesome he was like a club DJ." Rex went above and beyond what we had expected! We knew he was totally in sync with our style of music and was super flexible with coordinating very last minute requests that popped up hours and even minutes before our wedding. The stringed quartet we hired was unable to make it for our ceremony due to a pile up and Rex was able to step in and cover all the same songs we had planned to use in our ceremony over his sound system. We had originally not planned to do a bouquet toss, but the last minute request was honored with no notice and he worked it in, which made for fabulous photos and 1 thrilled maid of honor.
