I have NEVER experienced more rude and insulting customer "service", than Discount Computer Depots' phone - in center. It is truly shocking how they spoke to me every single time. I was so thrilled to find a company that had readily available Human access.... until I called in, and each time, their phone-in people are unfriendly, cold, abrupt, rude and downright insulting. I was having trouble with the off-line word processor they sent me. They were of no assistance whatsoever and told me they could not help me with my problem. We decided that the laptop would not work, and the phone-in insulter said he would send me return postage via snail mail. I told him I would work with the laptop and try and figure it out, then decide if I would send it back. (I spent half a day, digging on line and finally discovered that WordPad has no page delineation.) Now I am sick with dread about having to talk with them again, if the computer works and I have to send back the paid postage. They are so consistently nasty on the phone that I wonder if they are trying to eliminate phone ins, and force us to just "talk" with them on line. The only things my laptop has problems with is being really slow when turning on, and after I get into windows it is slow when opening things like settings or the content within settings. Once I get into an app, the settings page opens up faster the next time. Other than that, I am happy with my laptop. So far, it does what I need it to. read more

I have tried calling their support line twice during business hours, left two voice mails asking them to call back because their support team did not pick up, and now have emailed them with no response. I purchased a refurbished computer at the end of February, and received it March 4th. Shipping time was reasonable, item was well packaged, but it still arrived damaged. I immediately called and left a voice mail, asking them to call me back ASAP, explaining what happened. When I took out the tower, something was rattling around loosely inside. After opening the side, I found that the Corsair memory cooling fans had either not been installed properly or had been jarred loose during shipping, and had spent who knows how long banging around inside the tower, slapping against the motherboard, the cooling system for the CPU, the memory cards and even the video card. I called them back the next day and left another voicemail, with no response. I finally got irritated with waiting, since I've been without a PC for a while now, and reinstalled the cooling fan myself. Metal clips were stretched out, as if someone had forced them to bend too far, then tried to bend them back into position. I then booted up the computer, began the install process and such. For a few days, nothing happened. I was able to work with the computer fine, played some video games a bit to test how powerful it was. I had a crash, after a particularly intense bit of graphics in the 2013 tomb raider, rebooted the system and lowered the graphics a bit, figured I'd just caused a software glitch by running it beyond what it normally should. Then I installed DazStudio, a 3d art software I use. I had a commission waiting and needed to get back to work. But I can't finish my work, because every time I load DS the CPU overheats and crashes. According to the Asus software that came preinstalled, the CPU is running at 190.4 Fahrenheit from the time I boot DS until it inevitably crashes, minutes or hours later. Maximum safe range for this CPU is about 180, and the software brings it above it already, so when it gets more intense, it crashes the CPU. Note, this is not a software issue. I previously ran this software on my old PC with much lower specs and it did crash... but only because the cooling system on the CPU was failing, and only at the end of its life cycle. I've been using this software, and it's predecessor, Poser, for literally 20 years and only encounter this problem when hardware is failing. So. Now I'm out a decent sum of money, I have a computer that I can't use for the very thing it was purchased to do, and a company that WILL NOT RESPOND to my now THREE requests that they DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS. I'm within warranty. I'm calling their sales department tomorrow, since I CANNOT reach their support desk despite two calls, two voicemails and now an unanswered email. This is HIGHLY unprofessional. They advertise a free 14 day refund/return policy then don't respond within the time table. Maybe I can get ahold of someone with this since this company only seems to care about fixing things once they've gotten a negative public review. For reference, my order was #65889, and as it stands I would never buy from this company again. Considering I cannot reach them, I am considering filing a complaint with my bank and PayPal to get my money back, since I don't have a working product, and cannot REACH these people. Edit: Since posting this, I went back into their shady invoice process and discovered that I was even shipped the wrong item. The computer I PAID for was supposed to have a 1 TB HDD, and the one I received was a 256 gig SSD. I've filed a claim with my bank, this is ridiculous and FRAUD. They seem to be doing this to everyone they can in the hopes of people not noticing their downgrades to the products that were purchased. I'm out 400$ for a PC that crashes after ten minutes, and am done giving this company chances to make it right. Expect my bank to be contacting you, and I expect a full refund. I called them and they were like "oh, yeah the one you ordered is not in stock." Weird, because even during the call their website STILL showed it as available and in stock. I returned it and waited for a refund...and waited....and waited....and waited. They kept telling me (via one liner emails) that it had been refunded, but time and time again, no refund seen on my credit card statement. This past Sunday, my husband ordered me a computer for Christmas. This company deducted the amount for the computer from our bank the next day (Monday). It cleared with no issues at all. Then Tuesday, they put the money back and canceled our order without a word until we contacted them about it after watching our bank account. The reason given...their system said it was a FRAUD transaction. Don't do business with them unless you show up in person and hand them cash. That's a horrible way to do business. Purchased a computer from this company through Walmart.com with a one year warranty. The computer completely failed within 90 days of buying it, loud grinding noise inside and then wouldn't even run. I followed Walmart's online instruction and contacted the seller discount computer depot, they told me that they did not sell me that computer and that Walmart messes up all the time by having customers call them. I again contacted Walmart and told them this, while I waited on hold Walmart contacted discount computer depot and what do you know? They did sell me this computer. I was then told that someone from this company would contact me that day and to take the computer to any ups or fedex to send it back for repair or replacement, except the info I was given was inaccurate, a complete fabrication, and when I went to the ups store I was told I would have to pay $90 to ship it back for repair! I sent discount computer 6 emails and left 12 voice mails over ten days and never got a response. I went ahead and paid to ship it back to them and had included detailed info about the failure, order number, contact info, address, and other info. Days later I received an email from discount computer depot asking for my Walmart order number (even though as I said it was with the computer) so I gave them the order number. The next day I got an email asking if I wanted it repaired or replaced, I emailed back to repair of possible, the very next day I got another email asking for the tracking number of when I shipped it to them, I gave them the tracking number. Six days later no word so I sent another email asking the status, they replied asking me what the tracking number was again so I gave it to them again. Three days later I get another email from them with a copy and pasted self help suggestion I could try on the computer as if I actually had the computer in my possession. I called them on the phone and actually got someone to pick up who proceeded to tell me they knew nothing about my computer, this person asked me for the tracking number a third time so I gave it to them and told them that they had received the computer at 10:41am on Aug 6th!. I will never ever for as long as I live order ANYTHING else from Discount Computer Depot. I originally placed my order on April 24, 2020 for Dell Optiplex Windows 10 Desktop with dual 22" monitors. I received a confirmation email for my purchase. I checked the site daily to see if my computer had been shipped. On Wednesday April 29, 2020 it showed shipped, no email was sent with tracking information. I used the chat feature on their website to ask about the tracking number. They were unable to provide me with the tracking number. The next day April 30, 2020 they were able to provide me with the tracking number via the chat feature. I received the computer on May 4, 2020 which was perfect because I was to begin work from home beginning May 5, 2020. I open the box and there is only 1 monitor. I called the help desk and was advised I would not be able to even use the computer with one monitor. The representative said he would ship the monitor that day and issue me a partial refund ($26). He said I would receive emails in regards to this. Well, I never received any emails so I continually called and used the chat feature to find out tracking info. I was told there was no tracking info for 2 days. On Wednesday May 6th I was told the item had not shipped out. I was livid at this point. No one had an explanation as to why but they did finally ship it on Wed. Once again I had to call to get tracking info on Thur. I finally received the dual monitors on May 11, 2020. Guess what? They did not include the cords necessary for me to connect the dual monitors to the computer. The representative suggested I go out and buy cords with another partial refund ($20). The cords with shipping would cost me more than 20 bucks. I called them back and asked them to send me the cords. As of today, I still do not have the cords necessary to even use the computer. Their customer service is awful. They banned me from using the chat feature. I left voicemails for a supervisor to contact me, which never happened.
