I suspect that he only does so when he recognizes the customer as someone that lives nearby. I don't remember EVER getting a receipt there. He keeps a calculator at hand, but seldom uses it, preferring mental calculations, sometime accurate, often not, presumably depending upon his mood. I would prefer another store, even with higher prices, that didn't take advantage of the lack of competition to defraud their customers!
