The First Oriental Market in Winter Haven comes highly recommended, and my recent experience solidifies its reputation as a go-to spot for authentic Asian cuisine and groceries. Following a wave of positive feedback, I decided to place an order for egg rolls for a Year of the Dragon celebration at work. The service was impeccable, with the egg rolls prepared hot and ready for pickup at the agreed time, demonstrating their commitment to customer satisfaction. We ordered from their menu the night before the event. The beef pho was aromatic and flavorful. spring rolls were fresh. A unique find was the sweet waffle filled with cheese - a delightful fusion that balanced sweetness and savory in every bite. Their selection of drinks offered a refreshing treat. What sets First Oriental Market apart is not just its mini menu but also the convenience of shopping for groceries while you wait. The market presents an opportunity to explore and try new products, making each visit a chance to discover something exciting. Whether you're picking up a quick meal or shopping for unique ingredients, First Oriental Market in Winter Haven is a gem that caters to both your dining and grocery needs with excellence and variety.

I've read so many reviews from this place that I had to check it out even if it meant from driving out of town. I was in need of some Asian sauces and spices I thought great we could try some good food and also get some groceries. The food was great minus the fact that we had to wait extremely long. People that put their orders in after us had their food prepared first. I spent over $100 between food and groceries to come home and realize everyone grocery I purchased was expired. I will not go back. Very disappointed at the money I wasted. These sauces are not cheap. And beware they tag the prices on top of the expiration date. Most of the reviews were for their hot food which was good but pay attention for expiration dates when buying groceries.

Delicious! Worth the drive to check out this amazing place! They have an amazing selection of grocery items for purchase. Delicious teas, milk teas (with boba), but also food! The Korean corn dogs are amazing as well as the Bahn Mi (we had the pork). Highly recommend!

Wanted to try a new place for boba tea. The cups are really cute but the tea wasn't great and the boba was overcooked so it was mushy. They lady also asked if we wanted extra add-ins not saying there was an up charge so that rang our bill up but she was nice still.

Great Asian Market and Vietnamese hot food to go spot. The aisles are narrow but well-stocked--Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Indian, Phillipino & Chinese items galore. Nice candy aisle, great beer & wine imports, cold case with unique drinks (basil seed water? flavored coconut milk? Most food items have English instructions. Prices are reasonable (but some high based on being imported). They have a hot food bar where they prepare bao buns, dumplings, stir fries, noodles, egg rolls (changes). They have a dozen specialty drinks--the Vietnamese coffee was delicious. Trying the red bean tea next. Others love the bobas. Don't miss the frozen boba brown sugar fudgecicles! Everything I've had is delicious, hot, flavorful & fairly priced. There is no seating area.

First time here and ordered to go. The soups are prepared perfectly to enjoy at home! I was super pleased with how well made it to go. Don't hesitate, try it out!! Ate it in the comfy of my own home.

I was on the hunt for crystalized ginger and this place came up in my search. It was the closest to where we were so I called and asked if they had any and I was told yes. The connection was a bit weak and I said I would be in later. When we arrived the place was bigger than I expected. We wandered the aisles and found a lot of interesting items that I wish I was good at cooking with. From what I could discern there was a decent selection and reasonable prices. We found one item to buy while looking but no ginger. I went to the gentleman working and said I was the one that called for the crystalized ginger and he showed me where the ginger candies were. When I pressed he explained that they were out of the crystalized but did have several products. Since we were here we picked one of the candies to try and also found some ginger tea. While we did not find the product we were looking for we did buy a few items. I will continue my search but this was not a bad store.

Winter Haven has an Asian Supermarket? What?! Having the distinction of being an grocery alternative to Publix and Super-Walmart automatically gives it Five Stars in my book. lol. Not that there's anything wrong with Publix and Super-Walmart, but I try to shop local when I can and First Oriental Supermarket lets me do that. Located off Cypress Gardens, across from Publix (funnily enough), this little shop is probably one of the cleanest Asian markets I've ever been in. lol. That's saying a lot, since I've been around them my whole life; it's definitely a lot cleaner than the ones in Orlando. xD For a small shop, they have a wide selection of Asian products: canned goods, dried goods, sauces, snacks (seaweed snacks!!), drinks, frozen foods, fresh produce (mostly Asian and locally grown, I believe), fresh fruits. Their produce selection is limited, though. So I suggest either calling in to ask what they have or going in to check regularly or even asking if they can order it for you. They also have a miscellaneous aisle where they sell cookware, bamboo steamers, chopsticks, Asian decor and knick-knacks, and various china dishware/dinnerware -- they even have pinatas. LOL. And the prices for all these things are great! They're actually a little lower than most supermarkets. For $10, I came out with several cans of young coconut milk, bags of snacks, and a two bags of fresh veggies. The service is amazing. Family-owned and operated, First Oriental is run by several people, and I've never met people more willing to help you. The elder gentleman at the front is one of the friendliest and happiest people I've met. Haha. During check-out, he was more than happy to brag about his grand-children (of which, he has seventeen) and regale you with stories about his life. It definitely brightened my day. One thing though, one of the men came off as really gruff on the phone, but that was just his sense of humor/phone voice. He was actually pretty entertaining when I came in. xD The only negative I could find? While they do have a good selection of things, it's still not as comprehensive as a bigger Asian supermarket -- say, the ones in Orlando. They also don't have much in way of fresh meats or fish. They'll usually be frozen or they'll have it occasionally. All things considered though, I'm glad this place exists in Winter Haven. It's super convenient and it's nice to know you don't have to run all the way to Orlando to buy certain ingredients or spices or vegetables. I definitely recommend this grocery store for their fresh, locally grown produce, their selection of Asian goods, their prices, and their awesome service. 4.5 Stars Fun Fact: The Vietnamese name of the store translates to Peaceful/Harmonious Market. Isn't that pretty?

No where did it say spicy had no idea until my daughter said Mom these are hot and later broke out in hives. I called them and ask for a manager and kept being transferred to a number not working then asked for the meat dept something, finally called back and a man named Frank answered and was not concerned just said we will give you your money back. I asked him if they were going to fix there labels he said we will discuss it internally. I will never shop there again not the same Greens as the old owners. I loved the tenders and the old store. Not anymore. No customer service or care that my daughter got sick.

You'll love it! Wow were they ever right. We spent almost an hour in the store looking at some great deals on every type of cuts imaginable. All top quality meat. Plus the butcher is very accommodating to your needs. Cutting, grinding and preparing meats for you. While you're there check out the vegetables. Huge selection of potatoes, tomatoes, onions, peppers you name it and they most likely have it. From the butchers to the checkout ladies, all are very friendly. I ordered something I haven't had since moving down here and that's "Minute Steaks." Never heard of them? Ask the butcher about them. You'll be glad you did!
