I visited this Discount Tire location because my steering wheel had started shaking at highway speeds. I asked them to balance the front tires to diagnose the issue. After removing the front right wheel, they informed me that the rim was slightly bent and told me that this was likely causing the vibration. They also told me they rotated the tires, explaining that my front left tire would now be on the right rear and the front right would move to the left rear. After leaving the shop and driving on the highway, the shaking was still there. When I got home, I inspected the tires and immediately noticed something wasn't right. The wheel with a scratched center cap was still in the same front-right position. I also found the tire plug that I had previously installed in my front-left tire still on the front-left wheel. It was clear that the tires had not been rotated. I returned to the store and asked whether the tires had actually been rotated. Initially, I was told that they had been. When I pointed out the evidence, the employee then admitted that they had only performed the balancing service and had not rotated the tires. I spoke with the manager, who apologized and agreed to have the work redone. While waiting, I observed a technician placing a ratchet/wrench directly on the roof of my vehicle. When I picked up the car, I found scratches on the paint where the tool had been resting. Unfortunately, my vehicle has matte paint, which cannot simply be polished to remove the damage. I also noticed new scuffs and scratches on the leather steering wheel that were not there before the visit. The reason for my low rating is not that mistakes happened - mistakes can happen anywhere. The problem is that I was told the tires had been rotated when they had not been, and my vehicle was returned with cosmetic damage. To their credit, they eventually completed the tire rotation after I brought the issue to management's attention, which is why I'm giving 2 stars instead of 1. Overall, this experience left me disappointed due to the lack of attention to detail, poor communication, and damage to my vehicle. read more

Every single time I call and schedule a tire change. They have either installed the wrong tire or just straight up didn't schedule the appointment. I am now 4/4 with unsatisfied interactions. I've brought in 3 separate cars and every single time they have messed up somehow. My 1964 belair- they were too uncomfortable to remove the wheels from so they turned me away, my Lexus sc400 they installed the wrong tires on and I was smoking before I left the parking lot and now my 2014 Chevy Silverado, this is the second time I've scheduled an appointment showed up and they have no appointments. I'm done. I wouldn't recommend them change a tire on a lawn mower!!!!! read more

This was my second time going to this location as the first visit was not a good one. However, this time I went in with the intention of just patching up my tire so that I could make it to Pearland. However, Jonathan, Cameron and Trevor made up for my first visit, and I will be a returning customer. Jonathan assisted me with great patience and diligence; he found some tires that were great but yet affordable/he helped set up my Klarna, Discount tire CC and Affirm (several times) lol but he did not give up and still helped customers in between assisting me. Now the Man of the hour issss Cameron - he is the one - Cameron was the one person who initially won me over - he is such a genuinely delightful person - I watched how he interacted with every customer he assisted and the ones he did not assist; Cameron greeted me while I was standing in line and made me feel welcomed. And then there is Trevor, who also assisted with setting up my Klarna (it was giving pure hell) lol Trevor cracked jokes to make lite of a busy situation ... all around a very busy but yet pleasant experience this time! Took my truck in to have tire patched. They removed the tire from the rim when they only needed to patch the tire, and then tried to tell me the side wall was damaged and I would need a new tire. I protested and had them simply put the spare on so I could go else where. They forgot to put the tire and rim in the bed of my truck. Called me 10 minutes later to tell me to come back to the store to get my tire and rim. Went to NTB and had THAT tire patched and replaced on the Rim. Cost me 18 dollars. Watch this place the free work is only to get you in and sell you a tire. I was a loyal customer who will never return. read more

Watch the rebate system. They gave me 3 rebates equaling $269. I took my paper home and filed for the rebates online as soon as I got home! They denied one rebate. I called customer service. They approved it. They Said wait 4weeks. After a week they sent me a email saying two rebates were denied! I called customer service. They had to approve them again. Hmm. Glad I looked at my emails. My husband and I waited for over 2 hours which is truly CRAZY! The employees were standing around laughing and joking not working and my husband addressed it with the store manager and he just blew him off. Was the rudest manager I have ever seen deal with customers when he has a store full of people waiting. Wow! This is what I'm hearing other customers say when Discount Tire doesn't charge them for Free Flat Repair. I've been a customer since 2002 and always get certificates on all my vehicles even ones that are put on from the manufacturer. The staff here is friendly and always helpful. I don't believe all of the other comments because most are getting helped and with minimal charges. They are a business so they are supposed to sell you tires when your tread gets too low. They cannot fix flats on side wall (that's what certificates are for). Not all flats are fixable. If you schedule an appointment, try to be here at 8am, as the day progresses things get busy with walk-ins so they get to everyone on a first come first serve basis and appointments are worked in as close to the appointment times as possible. I've Had 8am appointments and walked in and got a flat fixed in under 30 minutes, other times I walked in and got the same treatment. I've also walked in and had to wait over an hour or two but if it's not going to cost me anything then I only have my time that I lost. There are times when I have had to buy a single tire and times I bought 2 or 4. The reason they recommend pairs is because the vehicle handles better with even tread on the tires per axle. Hope this helps you decide that Discount Tire is here to stay, not so sure about the other Tire companies in town. read more

Discount Tire, on the whole, is a fairly "okay" tire place. They run to your car (literally) so it appears like there's always a hustle going on although there is no hurry. Prices are fair enough and you get semi-nationwide service. This Discount in Lake Jackson is among the slowest on the planet. Even with an appointment, you can expect a wait of several hours, even for something as simple as a rotation. When you arrive they check you in and give you an estimated time that's no more than half what your actual wait time will be. Just triple the estimated time they give you. During your time in the waiting area you get a first hand view of how they work and it's quite shady. No matter what is wrong with your tire or even when there's nothing wrong with your tire, the sales associates come in to the weary customer and report "the bad news." For what seems to be about half the customers, there's something wrong with the tire that prevents them from remounting it. It could be anything but it's "not legal" (their words) to put it back on the car. They have a grab bag of reasons. (Wear, dry rot, nail too close to the edge, or something mysterious like a "bubble" that is invisible to the naked eye). They can mount the spare "or" they can sell you a tire...but then you have to buy in pairs. If you go with the spare, prepare for it to have something wrong with it too. They're trying to muscle you into buying a tire and they'll use any reason. Every time I come here I see it over and over again. All tire places are shady but this location is the worst I've ever seen in this regard. If you didn't buy your tires here or don't have replacement certificates through them, don't bring your car here. They will find some reason to hold you hostage and buy a tire or pay for services. If you bought your tires here and have papers on them, you're fine. Just prepare for the wait. Also be mindful of extra services they try to line your bill with. My car has no tire pressure sensors and they said it definitely did and they needed service. Know your car, folks. These people will take advantage of ignorance. The silver lining is that they're very nice to you. I have the feeling that Discount incentivizes "flat repair to tire purchase" conversions but I base that feeling solely on my observations. This place earns a gold medal if they do because they're very good at it. read more

I can't say that I have had the same experience as the other customers had. There are days that you do not want to go to a tire store unless it is an emergency. Yes the wait can be long. I haven't found a store in Lake Jackson that doesn't take a really long time and for the value I can't complain about them. I bought four new tires last Friday. Upon initial inspection with the attendant, he noticed there was locking lugnuts that require a special tool to remove and install. This being a new vehicle to me, I had no idea where the tool was. He told me not to worry that they could get them off and replace them with regular lug nuts. Ok good, only when I returned later to pick up my vehicle, I checked to see if the lug nuts were replaced and they weren't. There was one missing on each wheel. I went inside to confront the clerk and he told me they had run out. They were going to send me away with missing lug nuts. ALWAYS check your lug nuts! Do not go to your dealership for tire work. If yours behaves like mine did, their only interest is to clear the low pressure warning and they do that by adding air to the tire until the light goes out. I was burned three times as well as waiting for a long time for each service call. Their techs are untrained and unmotivated to do anything else. The management shows little interest in making things better. By contrast Discount attended to me immediately and while they couldn't find a leak chose to change out the valve stem as this can be a problem, even if the leak check does not show it.
