I sent my son there this past year and he had the best time. He learned how to write his name and to better identify letters of the alphabet. He really loved his teachers and would tell me that they are his favorite. Ms. Hansen sent weekly updates on what they were leaning/what was happening for the week, as well as a monthly email with important dates. The kids also went on a monthly field trip and they hosted the sweetest parent day celebration. Graduation was also thoughtful and enjoyable. He made an adorable book throughout his year there, which is literally the best keepsake and treasure. I really wish he started there sooner but grateful for his time there! read more

Discovery Preschool is the best! If you are looking for a part-time, play based preschool with warm, loving and experienced teachers, look no further. It is surprisingly affordable too! There are a lot of opportunities for parent and family participation if you are interested in that as well. I feel so fortunate that these are my daughter's first teachers. Mrs. Hansen does an excellent job of keeping families informed on what is happening and how your child is adjusting. I highly recommend you take a tour so you can see for yourself how special this place is. They have an amazing outdoor play space with everything from water and sensory play to tricycles and a climbing structure. Families are also able to take turns supplying fruits and vegetables for snack times which has been great for exposing my daughter to new foods. I love the focus on social emotional learning and helping the kids learn routines. read more

This place is BAD!! I had to pull my daughter out of this school for a number of reasons. Kids were beating up each other and teachers not doing anything about it. I showed up one day and my daughter was crying from being hit by another student. The teachers NEVER called or even talked to me about it. I'm the kind of parent that wants to be updated weekly, maybe even daily about how my child is doing. These people just want you to pick up your kid and leave. I never had one conversation with ANY of the teachers about my child unless I brought it up first. After 2 months of my daughter going here, I had enough and pulled her out. I wouldn't recommend this school to anybody!! read more

I love this school and its teachers! My oldest son has attended this school since August 2013, and he almost daily tells me that "school is his favorite place!" (What parent doesn't want to hear that?) When doing our research in West Sacramento, we repeatedly received testimonies (one from a Kindergarten teacher at Bridgeway Elementary - our home school) that this part-time preschool program does an excellent job in giving its students the opportunities to learn the skills necessary to be prepared for Kindergarten. The teacher (Mrs. Hansen - a former Kindergarten teacher) and aide (Mrs. Jensen) are wonderful; both for children and parents. The children who have so much curiosity, energy, and excitement, sometimes need assistance with classroom skills such as listening, sharing, and focus. During classroom time, I have watched both Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen successfully navigate all manner of different situations/personalities to foster learning and cooperation. We lovingly refer to our oldest as "passionate," yet Mrs. Hansen and Jensen make it look easy to guide, calm, and motivate him as needed so that he can capture the most from every day of class. As a parent, we all want what's best for our children, and Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen are well suited to help us accomplish that. I tend to be a more "involved" parent, where my husband is much more relaxed. Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen do a fantastic job addressing concerns as they arise for each of us. They are consistently helpful as we navigate the raising our son, preparing him as best we can (socially, creatively and scholastically), and helping us evaluate our expectations to keep them in-line with where our son excels, and his areas of improvement. Overall, this school has and will continue to be a place of learning and growing for our entire family. I am very thankful to both Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen for all that they do. read more

My oldest son has is finishing up his second year at Discovery. He loves it and so do I! Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen are both beyond wonderful. My son wants them to come to kindergarten with him. Sending your kid to school for the first time is a bit overwhelming. We asked around and heard great things about Discovery. When we went there to check it out, we knew we wanted our son to attend. We haven't been disappointed. Mrs. Hansen keeps us up-to-date on what is going on in the classroom and immediately addresses any issues my son is having in class. She's also honest and thoughtful when I ask questions about my son's progress and behavior. I am so glad we chose to send our son here. Our youngest will also be attending. read more

My daughter has completed 2 wonderful years with Mrs. Hansen and Mrs. Jensen at Discovery. The moment we met the teachers, I knew this was the school for us. The teachers are so caring and truly give you that warm and fuzzy feeling inside. My daughter is super shy and timid and Discovery has really brought her out of her shell. Mrs. Hansen sends out daily update emails explaining what and how they are learning in class along with a detailed monthly calendar. We go on several educational and fun field trips, and have really cool at school celebrations like Parent Appreciation Day and Water Play Day. Each week my child is sent home with her beautifully created artwork and she teaches me all of the fun songs she learns in class. Another cool thing- the kids are really taught how to be responsible, communicate their feelings, and to be kind to others. For example, one hot day at pick up Mrs. Jensen mentioned that all of the kids went outside and washed all of the chairs together to cool off. I could go on and on about how wonderful Discovery Preschool has been for us. Mrs. Hansen is "famous" in West Sac. We've run into her so many times throughout the community and she's always remembers everyone's names, she smiles and gives everyone a super big bear hug. I look forward to enrolling my youngest there when the time comes. read more

Love how they email weekly letting me know what my son is doing. I always ask questions about my son and get an honest response. Mrs hansen is very sweet and genuinley cares about my son. To the person saying you had to ask about your child...you really ecpect them to go up to every parent and tell them how they are doing. They come to you with any concerns they have you want to know just ask! read more

Discovery preschool is amazing. Ms. Hansen and Ms. Jensen are truly wonder teachers. They are super kind and generous with their time, patients and understanding. My son has gone here for the last two years and looks forward to school every single time. He just adores both teachers. My son had extreme anxiety as this was the first time he had been in any sort of daycare or school environment. Ms. Hansen was so patient with him, kind and took the extra time to comfort him and make him feel safe. The classes are small which provides for a more intimate learning structure which I like. Most of the kids get that special attention, work on their fine motor skills and artwork. I love how my son is so creative and all the wonderful artwork he brings home. All the students that my son has had in his class the last 2 years are just was wonderful. Great kids, parents and AMAZING teachers. Couldn't say enough about Discovery. read more
