BE AWARE! The daycare centers suppose to lay the foundation of a child educational journey but that wasn't the case for my toddler. After a couple weeks of my toddler attending this center, I notice a difference within my toddler. I did a pop up visit, I notice the original teacher that was assigned to my toddler classroom was no longer there. After that day, things went downhill with interaction with staff members and director. The director coached our toddler and staff members to communicate the untruth regularly. The practices the director used impacts well-being of a child long term. BE AWARE, your child will not get treated fairly. BE AWARE, no respect towards the staff members. BE AWARE, the untruth and negative thoughts will be poured into your toddle I had high hopes of this daycare center being it's located in the heart of San Antonio but it broke our heart to see our toddler in fear attending this center. Everything is just VERY out of place ever since Nancy left ! & YALL DO NOT TAKE YALLS BABYS HERE , because theirs this one girl who likes to drop babys but not get fired !!! When we first put our son in this daycare we had many concerns about his teacher in the Infant B 6-12 months. In fact at one point we were about to take him out until we learned Ms.Maggie was going to be the head caregiver there. We were ecstatic because we saw how she interacted with him, how she would read to him, nurture him, adjust her style to meet his needs...we finally felt at ease. She surprised us with the cutest art work by him and one of a kind mother and father day gifts. Ms Maggie is very special. You can tell she does this out of love. She is a huge asset to Disocvery World because we've seen how hectic the infant classroom gets without her and it causes us parents a lot of stress. Note the 5 star rating is on Ms Maggie and not on the daycare. The daycare needs a lot of work. read more

No front office staff. No check in. My nephew attends this daycare. I went to visit him one day and no one was at the front area to vet me (or potentially others) coming in. Nobody checked my ID or asked who I was! I was told where my nephew was and I was allowed to see him, take him out of room, and out of site of any care giver without asking who I was or asked ID. (This was the first time I visited my nephew too.) They never checked my ID or even asked for my name. I don't know how they're curriculum is, what they're ratio is, or anything like that, but the idea that these kids are potentially in danger by strangers walking in and no one asking who they are is enough to deter me away. read more

Please, please do not send your little ones here. I have contemplated posting this for the past 2 months, but I can't let other parents experience the panic I've experienced. Please read to the end- it could save your child's life. My barely 12-month-old had been in care at this facility since February, and we had zero issues. However, in mid-August, I called to let them know she would be late due to a well-visit doctor appointment. "Mel" told me she couldn't attend because I called too late. I had never called with previous doctor appointments; I just brought a note. I asked to speak with the director, Nancy, but "she was out," and I could leave a message. I asked to talk to the Assistant Director, Megan but was told the same thing. Ten minutes of back and forth later, Mel revealed that Megan and Nancy quit, and she was the interim director. Since their resignations, my 12-month-old had different teachers in her classroom every day, including teachers I had never met. Rotating caregivers can be detrimental to the attachment-formation of a child at such a young age. After speaking with the owner, Jason, about my concerns with both directors leaving and no parental communication, he communicated the changes to the parents. A week and a half later, I got a call around noon that my barely 12-month-old had tripped and bumped her head on a shelf. Not a big deal, she's learning to walk, and babies trip- I get it. They said the bruise looked terrible because "she has such fair skin, and we aren't used to fair-skinned babies." They emphasized multiple times in the short phone conversation that her bruise was bad because of how light her skin is but assured me she was doing well. At 5 PM, I picked her up, and it took about 10 minutes for them to bring her out to me. While nervously waiting, someone came out with two incident reports. The first for her tripping, the second because she "fell while getting out of her high chair." Confused, I asked how that could happen and was given the run around for about 5 minutes before I flat-out asked EXACTLY what happened. There was a non-employee of this facility working in the infant classroom. She took the tray off my daughter's high chair and unbuckled her. She noticed a younger infant on the floor a few feet away who had slid down the boppy pillow he was on. After unbuckling her, she walked away from my daughter to tend to the other baby on the floor. The other infant teacher walked over to feed the baby next to my daughter. My daughter leaned forward and fell, flipping headfirst into the tile floor. The first employee, who had walked away from her, turned back around to console her. She "tripped" into the shelf less than 20 minutes later, probably because she was still unsteady from the previous head injury. The bruise looked so bad because she had already sustained a considerable blow. To make matters worse, they put her to sleep after. Anyone who has first aid training should know that the individual MUST be kept awake if there is a chance of a concussion. At no point during the day or the phone call was I told about what happened with the high chair due to a "miscommunication." I was told incorrect information when I picked her up, and the incident report did not reflect what happened. While sitting in the emergency waiting room, Jason called to see what had happened and ask if he could do anything. We removed her from the facility immediately. CPS was at the facility that day investigating other allegations and was not informed of the incident. Three days later, Jason and the facility had still not reported it. It still makes me sick to think that this happened with people I trusted to keep my daughter safe. They did not inform me. They did not follow the concussion protocol, and they didn't file the proper forms. If Megan and Nancy had still been at the facility, and her usual teacher had been in the room, I am confident my daughter would have been safe. Please, please keep your little ones away. read more

Love this daycare! As a new parent I visited daycares all over the city until I found them. Always feel welcomed by the staff. Staff always tells me good morning and says hi to my son. My sons so excited to play when we get there. When I pick him up he's always in a great mood and happy. They keep a record of his feeding and diaper changes and notes and send it home with the parents. Good to know how the day went. highly recommend this daycare read more

Our experience at Discovery. Issues from the beginning. First I complained about how filthy the area was where my son stayed, the floors, rugs and tables dirty. I noticed the carpet was never clean. So finally after so many complaints they finally took carpet out to clean. Second the staff is unorganized with so many directors and seeing different faces being hired and then fired. They always complained about my son and would get calls stating I had 1 hr to pick him up either because he bite someone or because he pushed someone he is a toddler and they made it seem as he was the problem he also came home with bite mark and scratchs. My son doesn't like to be bored he loves to learn but this place is more about feeding, changing diapers, nap time and letting the kids play with toys until pick up. They have no control of the children no time out or letting them know they did wrong they simply pull child out of area and place them in another area. Third would be the price increase I guess for the new security on door or is it for pay increase, the security door at times doesn't even lock. Finally decided enough was enough so found a daycare and let me tell you my son is happier and I have not received a call from the staff and they tell me everyday that he is good hasn't had a bad day. So Discovery Learning isnt what is displayed on website. So for anyone that is looking for a daycare for your baby, . Keep my post in mind. Look around at the areas especially the floors you will be surprised what you see and do a whole day visit. You would think if this is a learning center shouldn't they be certified to teach? I have never seen any license up for any staff members. I dont know who the owner is but he/she needs to be more involved what is happening. read more
