Thelma was awesome! She's the one you ask for it's her spot! I came in last minute and she was so sweet and kind and accommodating. I had extremely dead ends - truly fried. And my roots were atrocious. I told her I wanted to go blonde from the darker brown of my regrown that was about 4 inches grown out and she told me this: "I'm an honest person and you don't need to do all Of what you're thinking of doing. I can fix it for less in less time." She wasn't there to rob me blind - but inform me on a more reasonable way to get the results I wanted that wouldn't have me getting into a hair style that's going to be super high maintenance and extremely costly! What an amazing person! Most salon artists will do the ladder because if you don't know any better it will be more money in their pocket... Mind you I have thick hair that goes about 5 inches passed my shoulder. She did a full highlight, shampoo conditioner and cut and blow dry all under 2 hours!!!!! That's like magic. I normally spend all day in the salon! She understood women now a-days don't have all Day and have places to be and she gets you there looking fabulous!!! I had a very pleasant experience with Thelma and her assistant. I recently moved to PB from miami and I was looking for a stylist who knew how to do Dominican blow outs without damaging my hair and who was comparable in price to what I was used to paying. It's obvious that Thelma is very knowledgeable about hair care and heat protectant. When I arrived, I was immediately shampooed by her assistant and then sat in her chair. There was no wait at all! (I did make an appointment the day before). Thelma is very professional (from her demeanor, her knowledge, and how she runs her business. It was very refreshing. My hair is very long and although she charged $10 more for a blow out than what I pay in miami, it was worth it. She had me out in an hour and a half and my hair silky straight! Finally i have found a salon, a "Dominican" salon, that not only provides GREAT service, but is also run with incredible professionalism. The staff is warm and welcoming, providing a sense of comfort, but more importantly the relationship between you and your hair stylist is built on trust and communication, both of which Thelma makes sure is never lacking. Amazing. I'm a Latina who has had bad haircuts at high end salons. They usually get quite scared when I let my hair down and see the amount of hair they need to work with. But not Distinct Hair Salon! Thelma, the owner, gave me a fa-bu-lous haircut! She studied my hair first, asked what I wanted, and then did her thing (incorporating what I told her). I have very curly dark hair that tends to get a lot of volume when it dries. Now, My hair feels light and fabulous. Curls are still rocking and volume has been controlled.
