I've been using District Dogs since I moved from Arlington to DC back in late September. I selected District Dogs because, quite frankly, the prices were reasonable and much closer to what I paid for daily walks in Arlington. Jacob has been the main walker for my dog, a reactive 54lb mix, since our initial meet and greet. He only has one set of my keys, unlike many other companies which require two copies, and invoices weekly rather than monthly. Jacob responds quickly, whether via text or email, to confirm cancellations or additional walks. He probably thinks I'm neurotic but still humors me with a reply! District Dogs also texts you rather than leaving a handwritten note about the walk. The only downside to using a smaller service like District Dogs is I think off-hours and weekend walks may not always be an option. The few evening feed and walks I've asked for have been doable, but I'm hesitant to ask for say, two walks on a Saturday if I can't get the dog to daycare and will be out all day. It hasn't been a problem for me yet though. read more

This place sets the new standard for what doggy daycare should be. I first tried another daycare and refused to leave my terrified dog after the staff attempted to DRAG HIM in(Rhymes with Ity Daws), it was a totally different experience visiting District Dogs. The store is clean, welcoming, and much calmer than other daycares. It's very well run with a dog-loving professional staff that clearly has received great training. My skittish rescue loves it here, and I love watching him on the doggy daycare cam. This place is godsend and you can really trust your dog will be stimulated and happy here. The dog playroom has actual beds and obstacles; it's not just a sad, dimly lit, pee-filled linoleum room (again, looking at you Ity Daws). The parking lot behind the building is fantastic too, so there is a quiet place to get your dog in and out of the car during morning and evening rush hour. read more

My favorite thing is I receive a text message from him after my dog has been walked with an update about how her walk went. It gives me such peace of mind to know that she is being taken care of. My dog is a little high maintenance and she has a lot of triggers with all of them and Jacob has been so patient with her. My dog drags me to the District Dog door whenever we pass by that's all i need to like it. And what's not to love? They offer dog walking and daycare and overnight boarding, which is what I need. She did a fantastic job interacting with our skittish pup, and knew how to put him at ease. Beyond genuinely caring about your dog, Chris and everyone I've dealt with at District Dogs know how to handle every situation. A few months ago, Bea was viciously attacked by a loose dog while on a walk. Not only did Chris get her away from the situation, but Jacob also immediately went to the scene, contacted me and started treating Bea's wounds until I arrived and was able to get her into surgery. I am confident that without their quick action, Bea might not have made it through the attack. It's always tough letting a "stranger" into your home and putting your pet in someone else's care. I have used District Dogs for my anxious rescue pup for the last several years and cannot recommend them more. Walking Services- I started with solo walks for my dog because he wasn't very socialized, but District Dogs was able to find other dogs to walk him with that he was comfortable around. After a few months he was like a new dog! He wanted to play and greet other dogs all of the time, something I could never have accomplished on my own. Daycare- As my dog got older he was not able to be at home during the day by himself with becoming very anxious. District Dogs welcomed him at daycare and took excellent care of him. Walking him in each day and seeing nearly all of the staff greet him by name was such a positive experience. We have been using District Dogs for our dog Finn for about six months now, and we are incredibly impressed with every one of their services - from daily dog walking, to daycare, to overnight boarding. Our dog was a very nervous rescue when we first started with District Dogs, and his dog walker David was extremely patient and skilled in working with Finn to come out of his shell. We also use their daycare services once or twice a week, and our once-skittish dog LOVES going there and playing with his friends all day. We have also used their overnight boarding services while away, and were extremely relaxed and happy with the experience. We contacted Jacob a day before to see if he had availability He was really flexible and accommodating and took care of our dog so well. However, after asking for information about our location and pup, Jacob replied to say that they can't accommodate any dogs in our neighborhood. District Dogs has been a godsend for my Frenchie, Gatsby, and I since we moved to DC in 2015. We thankfully were introduced to Jacob and his team by word of mouth and I'm grateful for it. Gatsby has been to boarding, daycare and receives her daily mid-day walks from their team. She drags me into their facility whenever we are near because she is so excited to play with her pals and she genuinely loves the District Dog humans as well. They all know her by name and give her lots of snuggles and belly rubs. I am most appreciative of their willingness to accommodate night walks if I get stuck at work a bit late. For daily walks, you get a report on how it went and often photos. For daycare, you receive a report card and photos. Beyond the stellar experience that Gatsby has, I'm also glad to support a local business. We have been with Jacob from the time it was only him and 1 or 2 other walkers. District Dogs is great. Staff was very friendly, facilities are clean, and seemed very safe. It's not easy for me to leave my dog somewhere but District Dogs actually made it easy for me to be comfortable with her in their hands. My wife and I were able to enjoy D.C. while our dog socialized, got a bath, and was being taken care of. Can't recommend this place enough. I haven't taken my dog anywhere else in D.C. but from what I saw online there didn't seem to be a lot of great options. When it comes to leaving my dog somewhere I don't want a place that's hit and miss, District Dogs was solid across the board. I would say it's like a 10-12 minute drive from the White House. We just jumped in an Uber with our dog in the morning and took her to District Dogs, then we were on with our day. The prices are also extremely fair in my opinion. I'm nuts when it comes to taking care of my dog and making sure she is safe. If I can leave my girl here then I know you can. read more

Jacob and the entire District Dogs team are above and beyond other dog walking services we've used in DC. He is extremely responsive, very responsible and personally goes with any new person to your house to go over the details about your pets. The walker sends you an email after each visit, often times with photos. Once our walker's email access was down and since Jacob didn't hear from him, personally came to our house to make sure our pups got a walk. Fortunately for them, they got two visits that night. We recently used District Dogs for in-home pet sitting and had another wonderful experience with Matt. He sent us two daily messages about our pups and even helped bring in mail, packages, etc.. I cannot recommend District Dogs more highly. They are the best. We send our 8 month old pup Charlie to daycare here once or twice a week and do grooming services with them every so often. Charlie loves it and comes home exhausted. The staff is attentive, responsive and flexible. District Dogs has a great system in place. You use an online portal to request and schedule your services, employees are friendly enough, the dogs seem happy when they arrive, etc. But as a new client, they weren't completely forthcoming with overnight boarding. They tell you about the online cam to view the dogs playing but it literally only aims at about 40% of the room so you won't see your dog if they're in another area. It also operates until about 7 pm (which I assume is when their lights go off), but as pricey as they are, I'd imagine they'd look into a night vision camera and various cams that point at different sections of the room, so you have a full view. They also don't mention a completely separate room for "small dogs" where there is no camera at all, of course. They provide generic report cards and photos once a day but these are dogs, of course they ate all of their food and went #1 and #2. They are a decent option and I'm fine with supporting them in the meantime but hoping I come across a daycare with a higher level of service and transparency. read more

I have been using district dogs since 2/15 and it has been a great experience. Jacob runs a very simple and easy to understand schedule with routine weekly billing that I don't even have to think about. They offer competitive (and better) rates than most, if not all, of the other walkers I originally looked at. Jacob is very quick to respond to emails and texts regardless of the early morning/late night requests. Cancellations are just as easy as adding a second walk in the late afternoon. And most importantly I trust District Dogs with one of the most important things in my life - my best friend. Jacob started off walking my dog and then handed the reigns over to Robert. Everyday Robert sends me a text letting me know my pup got a walk in and the time. When I come home my dog is much more relaxed and calm having a mid-day walk. District Dogs is a very public operation too. If you don't believe me, follow their instagram account. If it's ok with the dog owner, District Dogs post pictures of your pup on their account. You can see you dog out in the neighborhood while you are at work secretly checking your IG. Simply put, I don't trust my best friend to be with just anyone. I have left kennels because of bad experiences and I am a one-strike kind of guy when it comes to poor care for my pet. I have had zero issues with Jacob or his staff and highly recommend them. read more

When I needed last-minute dog sitting on only two business-days' notice, Jacob at District Dogs was happy to help. He was very flexible with drop off and pick up times. He was willing to accommodate my dog's issues and modify his environment to match my dog's needs. My pup spent the day in his home, hanging out with Jacob and his dog Molly. Jacob sent photos and updates throughout the day to assure me that my dog was comfortable and happy. When I picked my dog up at the end of the day he seemed content and relaxed. In addition to excellent customer service, District Dogs has a user-friendly online portal where you can update your dog's profile with any information that the dog walkers/sitters at District Dog should know. You can easily pay online and schedule services through the portal as well. Overall, the customer service at District Dogs is great and, most importantly, they clearly love dogs! read more
