    We've been taking our now 10 month old rescue puppy Wheeler to the Brookland location for their Montessori school 1-2x per week since late December. The structured day including play, set down times and various training activities and games are so good for her. She loves her pals there! The staff is super friendly and courteous and very thoughtful in their detailed report cards you receive each visit. They've helped work with our pup on her socialization issues and learning to self-regulate. She's a work in progress! We are super thankful to have found Patrick's. And so is Wheeler. She is always super wiggly and all wags when Melissa comes out to get her at dropoff!

    We highly recommend Ian as a personal dog trainer. Ian came to our house to work with our puppy, an energetic and smart corgi. He was very prompt and organized for each lesson and sent us weekly homework and instructions on topics we covered in our session. Ian has a great demeanor, and our dog really enjoyed his lessons. He is a keen observer of your dog's individual personality (as well as how owners are absorbing the lessons--since we were in training too), and he was always willing to deviate from the lesson plan to address additional issues on our mind. Nessie is so proud of himself when he does a good job!

    We go to Patrick's for grooming, and it's absolutely worth every penny. Jerniece, Rebeca, Andrew, and Mea always take such good care of our sweet girl, and we love the thoughtful report cards. It's so nice to have peace of mind knowing that Lola will be taken care of and given the patience she deserves. She always ends up with a great groom, especially considering her fur isn't the easiest to work with. Thank you, PPC!

    I've been sending my border collie, Cooper, to Patrick's since they opened in Brookland three years ago. Cooper loves his pals at Patrick's and so do I--they have such thoughtful, detailed report cards and you can tell they genuinely care about about the pups. I've also been pleased to see the new activities and training they've added since reopening following COVID-19. While it's not cheap, it is definitely super high quality service (in fact, I'd say it's the best). I'm especially impressed that they provided fear free training for all of their staff, which is important for my dog, who has fear and anxiety issues. As you can see from the photo, that's not a problem when he's with his friends at daycare! We've used their walking and boarding services as well, which have been great experience as well. I whole-heartedly recommend this daycare and their team (Adrianna, Melissa, Patrick, and Jerniece are awesome)!!

More than that, the PPC team is always excited to see her and take care of her as if she is their own. We wouldn't use anyone else and are so appreciative of the entire team!     Do NOT use their pet transportation. I just saw one of their drivers dropping a dog off at a…read morelocation and leave another inside the van with it completely OFF and it's 91 degrees outside. The dog was clearly in distress heavily panting and pawing at the window/door. The driver was gone for several minutes. I tried to call the business but was continuously re-directed through endless menus that ultimately led nowhere. I've contacted them online instead. PLEASE BEWARE Update: Per Rebeca's response, the driver did not step away "briefly". She was gone for almost 10 minutes and it was 90+ degrees outside. On top of that, when I finally got a response from them via email the following day, they indicated the "dog compartment had the AC was on 4" - well, the dog was not in the dog compartment. In fact, it was sitting in the passenger seat of the van with no protection, car seat, or restraint of any kind. Another red flag. Furthermore, as I waited for the driver to come back in case the dog went into greater distress and someone needed to take action to save his life, I was repeatedly calling their phone number and went through EVERY menu option just trying to find someone to talk to. In their email response, they also indicated that the dog was panting because it's "naturally anxious" - I don't know about you, but I would also be incredibly anxious if I were left alone in a steaming hot vehicle without knowing what's going on. I also have an anxious dog and there's a distinction between anxiety and overheating/borderline heat stroke panting. If the dog's owner being dropped off couldn't meet them at that moment, perhaps they should've gone to drop the second dog off first and then come back. Disappointing one customer is a lot better than putting a dog in a life-threatening situation. I would also recommend re-evaluating drop off communication procedures and scheduling. I can't speak for their other services, but please, please, think twice about using their pet transportation. All it takes is a few minutes for tragedy to strike, and at the end of the day, it's your fur baby, not theirs.

    I'm bummed to leave a less than stellar review on multiple levels, but I feel compelled to share my…read moreexperience. I called Cassandra to make an appointment for my doodle. While on the phone, I asked for rates, since they are not listed on the site. She informed me that she really couldn't give me an estimate even, and that only after seeing my dog's coat would she be able to offer a price. She informed that she mainly does smaller dogs, and I verified if she was wanting/willing to do my larger doodle (70lbs). She said she would. Here's my mistake -- I should have pressed further for a price, even a ballpark estimate, but I didn't. More on that in a second... We drove quite a ways out of our way to Cassandra's home near Olney, MD. She greeted us outside of her house where we talked for a few minutes before I handed off my dog in the driveway. Since we're in COVID times, I did not expect to go into her house or see where she grooms or have extensive conversation, and that was fine. I killed some time in the area and after two-ish hours, Cassandra called me to come pick up my doggo. She said she would be emailing me an invoice that I could pay prior to pickup. I open up my email and I see a bill for $220. TWO HUNDRED AND TWENTY dollars. Wow! I was floored. We have never paid that much for a grooming ever, and we typically get our pup groomed in DC proper or downtown Silver Spring. Here, we drove out to rural MD, where she grooms from her home, so no overhead even, and the price is double that than what we typically pay. Also to mention, there was a $10 COVID cleaning fee included. I never stepped foot into her house, we wore masks in the driveway where I handed off my dog -- what's to clean? My dog? I assume she was getting a bath either way. Anywho, I didn't pay the bill right away, as I wanted to ask her about why the rate was so high in person. When I arrived, my dog was sheared from head to toe. She's a doodle but she looked like a weird greyhound. Ears, snout, everything, clipped to the skin with no styling to be seen. She explained that our dog's fur was matted and that this was the only answer. So, yes, our dog definitely had some matting in various spots but we brush her regularly and she was groomed 12 weeks prior, so we're not talking months and months of overgrown fur. Even if she had to take her fur down really close, she still could have styled her head/ears/face to have at least some semblance of the doodle cut... those areas were not matted at all. So not only was this the highest rate we have ever been asked to pay, it was also the worst groom my dog had ever received. When I picked up my dog, I nicely asked why the rate was so high, and explained that we typically pay about half that in DC. Cassandra told me that was standard rate. I disagreed and told her that we really have never paid close to that amount in 3 years. She shrugged. It was a quick and friendly exchange, and I was hoping that by giving her the opportunity to lower the rate, that she might. She didn't. I paid it and we left. We won't be going back. I don't know why I'm leaving two starts as opposed to one. One just seems so harsh. But tbh it was a one start experience. My strong advice: get a rate upfront.
