PPC provides detailed report cards after each class/daycare session, complete with photos, videos, and written feedback.

We've been so grateful for PPC's services (training and grooming) throughout the duration of Togo's (our Shih-Tzu mix) puppyhood. Through Puppy Headstart, Daycare 101 and individual training, Joe and Nikita in particular helped Togo learn to play with other dogs, get used to grooming, and work through his separation anxiety. PPC is unique in that they let your dog progress at his/her own pace even if doing so is inconvenient for the humans; for example, Rebeca's grooming team used hand-held clippers during Togo's first few grooming sessions until he was more comfortable with the razor. Togo is now a much more confident dog than he was when he first started at PPC. He loves PPC so much that he'd often refuse to leave after classes - and he is so excited when he sees his trainers during walks in the neighborhood! Thank you PPC for the individualized care and attention you've given Togo, and for the wonderful community of dog owners you've fostered!

TLDR: Take your doggo to Patrick's Pet Care! They have skilled trainers that use positive reinforcement to help your dog feel confident and secure. My doggo, Benji, is a lot more independent and happier these days---and it makes my life easier too! I had recently unexpectedly adopted my foster dog, Benji (foster fail!) back in October and had no idea of his history. All I knew was that he was a silky terrier mix stray with a high-energy personality. I was a bit overwhelmed to say the least. I took Benji to the Brookland location for a spa day and after that positive experience, Patrick recommended Benji as an ideal Day Care 101. So in late October, I started taking Benji to Daycare once a week to work with Joe. And oh my goodness, his progress! In these last few months I've seen my Benji go from being a hyperactive, anxious, always following me EVERYWHERE doggo to a more independent, self-monitored, energetic one. He had started with some severe separation anxiety where I couldn't even be in the kitchen without him being glued to my foot, even less leave him by himself without destroying everything around him or crying for 2hrs straight. Not even a stuffed Kong would keep him occupied. Now, Benji is perfectly content and relaxed hanging out on the couch while I'm cooking. He can be left alone in the living with a Kong and some toys and manage. He even goes off into my room by himself! That's not to say that EVERY instance is perfect, it all depends on his mood, but Benji has tools and more confidence to work through it when he's alone. By far one of my favorite things about Daycare are the report cards. Whether a video or a detailed message, I always look forward to Joe's summary of the day that includes pics of his dog friends and behavior notes, and activities. The doggos play Find It! games and puzzles, and practice crate training techniques to work through the separation anxiety. Benji still has a ways to go, but he wouldn't be where he is without Joe's patience, persistence, and compassion. I look forward to more progress! I'll update once Benji has graduated from Daycare 101 :D BONUS NOTE: Benji is WIPED after daycare, so it's a great opportunity for me to train him in nail-clipping. He's a lot less resistant! A good bath and brushing helps relax him and that's when I can clip a few at a time. SO HELPFUL.

FYI: They do not reply to inquires within an hour (according to Yelp). It took them 2 days to respond to me. I began as a committed customer with morning 15 min walks and had 4 scheduled for the month of July. I had such a good experience with Tyler on the first 2 walks that I took the time to recommend their service to my entire new apartment building and posted it on our app message board. They switched walkers to Jeffrey (new) for the last 2 walks and instead of leaving my dog in the hallway gated area they put her back in her crate. I wasn't too happy about that because she had been crated 12 hours because I had to go out of town. That is the longest I've ever crated my baby in her 5 years of life. There are specific instructions for the dog walkers to follow and it is pure laziness to not read those instructions thoroughly ESPECIALLY on a first visit. After seeing the notes from the walker I texted the managers at 7/26/17 9:22am and let them know that my dog is not to be crated and they said they would send someone out within the hour. Ok that works! It was an honest oversight but they are going to correct it. I received notification at 7/26/17 11:13am from Patrick the owner that my dog was let out of the crate. So my follow-up question was she let out 2 hours later? This was his response: 7/26/17 4:33pm The morning caretaker, works from 7am-2pm, and I'd be happy to verify the exact time first thing in the morning tomorrow when he is next at work. We apologize once again for this error. I wait almost the entire day to email 7/27/17 7:28pm Patrick, I'm getting a little concerned. The sole reason I picked your service was due to the 5 star reviews on Yelp. I've been waiting for you to respond about what time my dog was let out but I haven't heard back from you yet. There are cameras in the lobby of my building so I can ask the property manager tomorrow but I'd rather not go through all that trouble. I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks, Amanda This is the craziest response I've ever gotten in my entire life: Email at 7/27/17 8:43pm Hi Amanda, I am sorry you haven't been satisfied with the services that you've received from Patrick's Pet Care. I really am. However, the passive aggressive intonation of your latest email is entirely unnecessary. And the underlying implication that you are going to write something nasty about this company on the internet if you don't receive my reply with sufficient urgency that satisfies whatever unknown timetable you may have for considering it "fast enough" is even more unnecessary -- and it's not something I'm prepared to deal with. ***(I have to mention that he set the expectation of getting back to me the next morning)*** We have shown up to take care of your wonderful dog Miko on time, in a professional and thoughtful manner for the past two days. On one of those days and on one of those visits a new staff member in training made a simple and incredibly minor mistake as any single human being on this planet is capable of making, including you or me. Instead of leaving Miko in the hallway, he returned Miko to the crate. That incredibly minor mistake (which resulted in your dog staying in its crate for a few additional minutes after already having been it for the preceding 9 hours) was not reckless, was not negligent, and did not put your wonderful Miko or your home at risk in any way whatsoever, and it was corrected in about 60 minutes. Whether it was actually 50 minutes or actually 70 minutes - I truly don't know. What I do know is that I have people and animals who really depend on me each day, some of them with real emergencies and I'm not going to be blackmailed by the threat of a Yelp review ***(Huh?)*** because I didn't answer a non urgent email for a non urgent issue in a timeline that comports with your worldview. I am sorry about that. But if you want to continue to make an issue of 20 minutes and take up your time soliciting camera records to find out where in the 20 minute window the minor issue was corrected that's entirely up to you. But I think you'd be better served if you used the time to find a new dog walking company. I'll make sure your Pet Check account is closed first thing in the morning and we'll make sure to have your key returned to the front desk of your building by close of business (5pm) tomorrow. I'll also wave all the charges for the two visits this week so that you actually haven't paid for any services-- you'll get them for free. Hopefully that will be enough to put this matter behind us so that we can consider it closed and resolved. If, however, you want to persist in prolonging the matter, I would have to refer you to my attorney, Christian Fernandez, who is copied on this message and authorized to resolve this matter on the company's behalf. Thank you once again for sharing Miko with us. I am sincerely sorry and wish you the best. Patrick

Our pups out on a walk with Patrick's Pet Care!

Patrick's Pet Care has the best walkers in the district! We have been loyal customers since August 2018 and we absolutely LOVE having them as our daily walkers for our pups. Shoutout to Ayodele - she is the best walker! Patrick's Pet Care prices can be quite steep but they're comparable to other dog walking services in the city. I have an old doggo (16 years old) and a young pup (1.5 years) and they take excellent care of both boys. For example, our old dog recently suffered a spinal injury and our walker tenderly carries him outside every day for a quick restroom break. Our walker is very personable as well and it's an absolute joy talking with her. Her daily status reports on their communication app always crack me up and I find myself saving every awesome photo she takes of my pups. I 100% recommend Patrick's Pet Care. What makes them stand out is their clear love of animals, their friendly demeanor, and their awesome communication (+pictures) app!

I am so pumped that Patrick's Pet Care now offers grooming services! I have a 10 lb. Shih Tzu and Patrick did a great job recreating a "not too long, not too short" haircut from an old picture I had of her on my phone. He and his team were patient in listening to what I wanted and more importantly, I could tell that my dog was comfortable with them. She's a rescue and prone to separation anxiety, but she didn't panic when I left her and was in great spirits when I came to pick her up! I didn't even get her usual post-grooming silent treatment, which was nice. I will definitely be returning!

Pebbles (blue heeler, 1.5 years old) would never listen to me, would not sit or lay still, and had a lot of other obedience issues that caused her to be stressed or confused. She was a TOUGH dog to train and I was concerned I couldn't find the solution for her to get basic concepts. This view has completely changed since working with RSK9's 3 week program. I would HIGHLY recommend them and their methods - you can tell they genuinely love working with dogs and it's made a huge difference in giving my dog the chance to find real rest at home. They send DAILY updates with photos and videos which was so nice. This isn't a regular class or something you just pay for; it's truly an investment that you and your dog will be using for the time you get to share together. Side note: it's worth doing 3 weeks versus 2 weeks. At the 2 week mark is when Pebbles really started to understand her marks and cues. From here there is so much more that can be refined and Brandi/Perry really capitalize on that threshold being crossed!

He's very sweet but started to get rambunctious to the point that my remote work felt challenging. He also started jumping or freezing when he saw other dogs on walks, and he occasionally barked or growled and men. We weren't sure if it was the start of aggressive behavior or just the result of a shelter dog that hasn't been exposed. After doing our research, we decided to do the 3 week behavior modification board and train program. We were really impressed from beginning to end. They shared a ton of information upfront, walked us through their facility (we opted to drop him off) and sent pictures and updates every evening. It became clear right away that they both have a very deep understanding of dogs, as well as a real respect and love for them. Tuck loved them! The best part was the "transition" day when Perry brought Tuck back and spent the day teaching us everything they've worked on together. We are first time dog owners so generally going in pretty blind. Perry gave us a 101 on dogs and the importance of clear and consistent communication. He talked through all of the layers of training and how/why it is effective. We felt this part was SO helpful for us to understand how to be better owners. Then we walked Tuck around the neighborhood with Perry guiding us and then spent time addressing indoor behaviors too. He was flexible and stayed until we felt comfortable with everything. This is a long review so the TLDR: finding a trainer is a big decision and investment so we wanted to get it right. Brandi & Perry were really incredible and beyond our expectations!! Truly worth every penny! Tuck has been doing really great at home and outside since being home. I've been able to work full days with him holding "place" on his cot, which would have been unheard of before!

She's incredibly smart and before finding Atlas she was pretty well behaved but I had sort of hit a wall with her undesirable behavior (barking, separation anxiety, jumping up on people). I knew she needed better instruction than my partner and I were giving her, but knowing how social my dog is, a group puppy class didn't seem ideal. Luckily I met Atlas owner, Danny, and immediately I felt the right vibe. He seemed to have a training approach based in dog psychology, and I knew I was gonna have to think like my very intelligent dog if I was going to effectively communicate with her. I then met with Thomas (who I thoroughly enjoyed on a personal level too!) for only 2 hours and we went over a lot... all sorts of tips and tricks and it helped me to understand the overall philosophy of dog training. I was so busy going over every training mistake i had made, that I didn't even notice that Thomas was efficiently correcting her and my dog began to be on her best behavior... quietly cuddled next to me. Later on that night the change became more apparent when my partner was also like "um did you notice how obedient puppy is being?" We began joking that it's like we brought over a military school recruiter and now she's like "I'll be good! I'll be good!" We're not 100% sure which tip that Thomas gave us was so magical (but I suspect correcting the pack hierarchy was a major point) but it worked! Barking has turned into a low growl or nothing at all, she's stopped pestering us for fetch in favor of waiting for "play time", the results are kinda mind blowing! But the best part I never saw coming. Until seeing the after effects of Thomas I didn't realize how my stressed my puppy was. So now everyone in the house is happier! This is one of those business I love to support! Great people doing great work!

Hi. Let me start out by saying Please forgive all typos and grammar errors as this isn't what my…read morereview is about. I come to tell you all the truth as to what my experience with Bark Busters is like. I got in touch with Bark Buster on August 15, 2021. What sold me on them is the guarantee life time of your dog. My puppy at meeting his trainer was a little over 9 months old. The trainer is Andy who was extremely nice. As that is to be expected when you're charging $1400 and you're trying to make a sell which I bought. Although he did give a $55 discount. Well, the truth of the matter is I feel like a fool to have given up that much money for what I received. Andy, as sweet and as professional as he was didn't do much. He gave my husband and I this sound to make which is "egh". You know like you would say to a child when they're about to get into something they shouldn't, or that could harm them. Anyway, that was it. Although Andy mentioned that we could call or text him and he said texting would be better. When I did, I felt I was being made the reason for why my dog is not doing what I want him to do. For the cost, I feel the trainer should contact you at least once a month to see how training is coming along and or make a monthly house visit to reinforce his training. Also in my opinion and what's happening in our house is, my husband and I have taken notice that your puppy will pretty much follow you and if you just be patient enough you will see his/her progress or him/her growing up as they get older mimicking your household. Needlessly to say, we probably used that "egh" sound for maybe a week when we thought about using it which wasn't often. Not because my puppy wasn't just being a pup but that you just didn't think about it. I don't know if the fact of living in SE, DC had or has any bearing on how my visitations we're going to be but after reading some other reviews, I see Andy came out somewhat frequently to you. My bottom line is keep your money. I just gave you the word to use if you choose too. Or as I stated earlier just be patient and the pooch will fall in line in time. Also, I went on the Better Business Bureau website to file a complaint and to let people know of this company's practice. What I found on the BBB website is that I'm not alone in my complaint and it's state wide. From state to states. Check it out for yourself. I know some would probably call this buyer's remorse and you would be right. However, if just a little more was done for my money then there would be no need for the negative review. Best wishes to you and your good boy (s) or girl (s). Save your money! I wish I had and that someone would have put this information out there for me. Also, Andy asked me to give a good review on our first day of meeting. I told him that I would. However, from my practice I'm in the habit of waiting to see how things go before giving a review this way you'll get the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Most things are always good in the beginning or at first meeting but how is the follow through? This is what people want and need to know. Save your money and enjoy your ball of fur! Bye.

We have 2 - 10 year old spaniel/retriever litter mates that we've had since they were 6 weeks old…read more We've also had them in both puppy training and remedial training a few years ago to help with fearful behaviors. The pandemic did not help their socialization either. On top of everything, we recently moved to a more densely populated area with more noise, people and dogs. The change of moving for the 1st time (for them) was already a big stressor - adding these other things on top was making their barking and reactive behaviors even worse. After interviewing several trainers in the area, I immediately connected with Vivian. She's easy to talk to and has a great program for getting started. I explained to her that we simply didn't know what to do when our girls over reacted - something we had never learned from the other trainers. But even more importantly, she really understands how to positively encourage change rather than punish, which is something I was specifically looking for. We just finished the Gold Program with Vivian and I am thrilled with our girls' progress. Vivian did a great job of assessing their issues, helping us understand what we can do to help them and then guiding us through the process to help them overcome their fears. Now, we can continue to practice with them. Their progress in such a short period of time has been nothing short of a miracle. Our girls are so much calmer and less reactive. We are truly grateful to Vivian and recommend her without reservation.

Our dog was pretty reactive and anxious and she provided some useful activities that developed Charlie's recall and discipline. She is clearly knowledgeable and skilled, but what truly sets her apart is her holistic approach and genuine care for animals. She treats every dog as an individual and tailors her training to meet each one's specific needs. That same thoughtful approach extends to her human clients. During this time, I was dealing with significant health challenges and was not able to attend every class. She kindly offered makeup sessions, which I deeply appreciated. When she learned that my absences were due to my health, she checked in on me personally and even asked if it was okay to call me at home to see how I was doing. Her compassion meant more to me than I can easily express. She showed more care and concern than many people I have known for decades. Anyone looking for a dog trainer should go to her, not only for her expertise, but because she is genuinely kind, attentive, and deeply invested in both her clients and their dogs.

Bringing her pup feels like full circle, which says everything about my experience. April is knowledgeable, patient, and incredibly effective at tailoring guidance to each dog's temperament and each handler's skill level. I especially appreciate how she focuses not just on obedience, but on building confidence, socialization, and a strong relationship. Seeing the progress from one generation to the next has been really special, and I wouldn't trust anyone else with those critical early training foundations.
