In April of 2025 Sue Pyles who started Ute Pass Sand & Gravel in 1991, sold the Sand & Gravel part of her business to Jerry T Jenkins (Spudz Towing) who now operates the Sand & Gravel along with flagstones. For some really strange reason Sue & Jerry share the same Merchant Terminal for credit card transactions. The problem is - Jerry imposes a 3.9% or a 4.2% Eco/Credit Card Fee on credit card transaction on the shared terminal, which is way over the 2% limit but Jerry claims he can do this because WalMart does it -- which of course is not true, but it is his hopeless justification. So, when Jerry does this to you, simply contact your charge card provider and they will immediately and permanently remove the entire Fee/Surcharge because the credit card companies prohibit merchants from making customers pay the merchants contractual costs. It's better than arguing with stubborn Jerry or nasty Chris who is way over board rude. Or simply don't do business with these weirdos.

You can drive around, pick out what you want and either get it delivered or if you're just getting small rock/gravel/mulch/sand you can weigh your truck before entering and they'll load up your truck bed for you, and you pay after you weigh out. If they're out of what you want, they can order extra and they'll even ask you what sizes average of rock on your pallet you prefer. They're throwing a few extra sheets of rock on our pallet for us since they're currently out of the stone we came to get. Highly recommend this place for all your landscaping needs or out door projects.

Bought some bags of polymetric sand only to find out I can't really use it on gaps over 1 inch. Initially told I could return it if a problem or did not use. Bought only a few bags but on return I was told I had a restocking fee of 25%. Really?? How hard was it to "restock". Biggest issue was the bad advice because they only sell sand versus polymetric dust which is the right material. When I explained I only got a "that's a lot to return" so restocking fee applies and no apology for the bad advice in the first place. Went to C and C Sand. Much better service,more products and better prices. Will definitely go there and advise others to avoid pioneer.

If anything, I was the one who had too much going on and could be harder to get a hold of. We had an issue because of our stud placement which they had a quick and good solution for. I highly recommend working with Manstone. The installer was friendly. They gave a schedule beforehand and everything was exactly like that schedule said it would be. I never heard back from them after they showed up with the wrong stain color. I found out the hard way via county inspector they didn't pull zoning permits, either. Then in March they kept calling and harassing me saying I owed a balance - on work they didn't finish or do right. I emailed them documentation from the county showing no permits were pulled, that they brought the wrong stain color, and confronted them about price gauging, but got no reply. However I did immediately get a notification from my county that they submitted a fence permit... 9 months late. The permit listed the cost of the project to be what I already paid. Seemed like we were done. Now again, nearly 11 months after they installed the wrong fence, they are harassing me for "payments due," threatening a lien - for work they did not complete, permits submitted late, and a fence not contracted. They still have yet to send me an invoice: it's all just vague threats over the phone. Now I have to get an attorney to handle their harassment. Avoid at all costs!
