We were told they were a good outfit by a neighbor. Not even close. The communication, response time and arrogance was too much. Our Designer called them almost 15 times to get them to send the proposal for hanging paper in our foyer, painting our stair hall and 4 bedrooms in our house in HP - to no avail. When we did get in touch with the "manager" it was a bunch of double talk and excuses. We ended up having another contractor from Lake Bluff called the Ragsdale company do our job and they were amazing! The work was second to none. Really good group of people there. The project manager Jeff was a great communicator and each time I called to get an update or change a color Brett or Merill were there to help. They are doing our exterior this summer and even sent a crew to our house in Lake Geneva a few weeks ago to do some cosmetic work after remodeling this past winter. After coming to my home they wouldn't provide me with an estimate. And the reason according to the owner: "We're very expensive" For an owner of a company to dismiss a customer because they assume they're too poor is not only insulting but extremely bad business practice. UNSCRUPULOUS BUSINESS THAT SHOULD "NOT" BE USED! If you need a painting/staining job, by all means avoid this business and save yourself and your hard earned dollars!---DiVinci Painters is 'large' according to them and have Managers supposedly overseeing the projects in their 'region' and even their Managers, have assistants, again, according to them!!---You would think this should make projects go smoothly and as a customer, you would get the service you expect and problems resolved should they arise??? Answer: "NO!!!" Phil Massey with his posh Brit accent supposedly was to oversee our project, but communication was lagging from the start! We chased after getting the quote and should have NOT hired them, but unfortunately we made the mistake of proceeding with them! Phil Massey had explained that they have 'special' crews for each project, and that they are busy and it will be a month and half before the 'special' crew would get to work! BUT guess what?! we were assigned what we thought as the 'special' crew for staining wood sooner than the month and a half wait!----The single man crew barely spoke English and per his own explanation was a "waiter" prior to this job!---Our job seemed to be his first without anybody supervising him!-The single man did NOT ISOLATE as he should've getting color on glass panes. -He did NOT know how to properly sand and fill areas on wood and left GOBS of INCORRECT FILLER marring the panel details!-The single man hired off the street without proper training or supervision , did NOT know how to use proper staining/varnishing so that ultimately the HEAVY SANDING AND BRUSH MARKS AND STICKY "MESS" OF A VARNISH were left behind!!! All this on top of GOBS OF FILLER LUMPS! Phil Massey never bothered to return our communication by calling back! Texts were short and useless! --He NEVER showed up and NEVER BOTHERED to CORRECT the mess!---WE HIRED ANOTHER TO DO SO! read more

DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR!!! The owner totally ignored me and would not return my calls or emails, which were many. This involved a project DiVinci performed at my house involving repair and preparation of my ceiling prior to some decorative painting conducted by another contractor. The ceiling cracked and pealed 1 year later because it was improperly prepped by DiVinci. The decorative painting company graciously agreed to repair the decorative art work free of charge, even though it was DiVinci that performed faulty repairs. When I contacted the owner of DiVinci to discuss repairs, he refused to return my repeated calls to his office, and ignored my emails. During my 6th call to his office, his secretary assured me he was given all my messages. DO NOT USE THIS CONTRACTOR!!! read more

As a designer of 35 years, I decided to try out a local provider. Divinci had done some wallpaper hanging in a new client's home and done a good job. With much patience I tried very very hard to not allow their constant mistakes, poor quality and excuses for various things let me stand in the way of creating a working relationship. However, over and over again, they basically did not care how their poor work affected my reputation, my projects or my pocketbook. Not once did they apologize or did I ever get a call from management. Again, I called and asked to speak to the owner when another client wanted to use them and things got messed up. The painters are timely, neat and polite and do professional, high quality work. They are also expert with using Fine Paints of Europe paints. There was a small miscommunication on something during my last project and they were responsive and positive about making sure I was satisfied. I already have two more projects lined up with them. Well, no wonder this group has won awards. They are amazing. They painted my foyer, living room , kitchen and powder room in 5 days, including ceilings! They were very neat and cleaned up after themselves every night. They were on time every day , very cordial and friendly. The painters were very knowledgeable about their work and Ludak, their lead painter was the best! He answered my questions and addressed any concerns I had immediately. His fellow painters were great, too. They are so good they will be doing my master bedroom and bath (stripping wallpaper....yuck!), my daughter's bedroom, our basement and in the Spring the entire outside of our house. Have used them several times over the years. Initially, the jobs they did were great. This last time I used them for a job that encompassed the entire home, I was extremely disappointed. Drop clothes were not used and painting was very, very sloppy. Had them come back for redos, still a poor job. Months later I am still cleaning and scraping leftover paint on handles, fixtures, granite, window frames, shelves, etc. Although they were good in the past, this last paint job will be the last. read more

We recently hired DiVinci Painters to do a partial renovation of our kitchen and they did a wonderful job. They stripped unsightly wallpaper, painted all cabinets, secured a tile contractor to install new backsplash tile, and hired a stone installer to cut and install all new counters with stone slabs we selected. In addition, they painted all trim and installed a new range hood and hardware on the cabinets. We had a couple of other small projects--building a drawer and painting repairs they did in other parts of our home. From the initial contact through the project's completion, all was handled in a most courteous and professional manner. We did get several estimates and while DiVinci was not the least expensive, their price was very competitive with all details fully explained. Further, the communication with Adam Kruse, our project manager, was respectful, prompt and very pleasant in all regards. He stayed in close communication and responded to all of my questions and requests with respect and good humor. During the project, Adam made several visits and checked in frequently. All members of the various crews were hard working. They took great care to mask and cover all areas not being painted and cleaned up thoroughly each day. While it's never easy to have workmen in your home for many hours every day, they were exceedingly polite and very responsive to any request that I made. One workman even asked for a shovel and cleared the snow off of our walkway one morning after a new snow. The work ethic of the crew, including their attention to all details of their work, was terrific. It was clear that they wanted to do a good job and took pride in their work. We love our new kitchen--the finished work is beautiful, even though we did not get new cabinets! Friends have been surprised when they learned the cabinets were painted and not replaced. So, with absolutely no reservations, I am very pleased to give our highest recommendation to DiVinci Painters and our project manager, Adam Kruse. read more

I recently hired DiVinci Painters to paint my entire condo. Their timely responses, professionalism and quality of work was flawless. This is the first time I have hired painters and did not know what to expect but I assumed it would take a few months to schedule and a week to complete. We have heard about this issue from our neighbors, but honestly did not believe that a local company would have such poor customer service. I found Divinci painters on yelp and then found out they were the same company who did such a beautiful job on my neighbors' home. We had extensive painting done (exterior, deck, entire top floor). From my first call through the completion of our project, this company was lovely to deal with. The quote was prompt and came in at $8000 less than another quote we received. Jim Hart was our project manager and he was great to work with. He took the time to answer my many questions and really understand what we wanted. I could not be happier with DiVinci Enterprises. It is hard to find a GC that can do this type of brick work, stamped concrete, and carpentry. My house looks AMAZING.! Ralph, the GC, is a great guy.
