Chris also has problems with women who ask questions, who have a clue and do not like being lied to repeatedly. Chris attempted to negotiate separately with my husband once he discerned that I mean business. He also told my husband that he had "to get control of his wife." He also threatened my husband that he should not write a negative review of his company. The biggest question is why I selected the firm. The price seemed reasonable, he had been recommended by our realtor and I was interested in supporting a local, veteran-owned business. In retrospect I would have paid more to be moved professionally with United Vanlines, with whom I have done many moves. The fiasco began with Chris telling us that packers would come "Saturday or Sunday" in preparation for our move which was to be concluded on the following Thursday. We waited both days. Finally, my husband had to ask Chris what is going on. This would set the pattern. Chris changed plans and personnel without telling us. This was a bad sign. It also showed how little respect he has for the time of his clients. He never apologized for this or subsequent failures in communication and failures in simple truth telling. Two packers finally showed up on Monday. Both packers had inadequate supplies. They did not even have Sharpies. My husband had to go and procure them. They had inadequate boxes and kinds of boxes. They put books in large boxes which made them unwieldy to handle but also resulted in, I kid you not, breakage of book spines. I've never had my books broken during a move. A similar pattern ensued for the remaining days. Sam, a very handworker, scavenged to find used boxes, without asking us. Ordinarily I would not care. But this is the time of COVID and I was not pleased about this. On Tuesday, they had to leave early because no one could get them packing supplies. Chris denies this vehemently (as he does other truths), but he doesn't know because he was too involved with a simultaneous Maryland move to know. By the time scheduled move was to happen, the entire house was far from packed. Chris blamed it on the rain. Chris also blamed this on the fact that our closing was 3 hours later than planned. Chris make excuses rather than take responsibility. The fact is that the packers were too few, they were poorly equipped to get the job done, and Chris has shirked all responsibility for this. When I began expressing my concern on Monday and Tuesday, he condescendingly told me that "he has a system and that I need to trust him." (This was the equivalent of "Missie, don't you worry your useless head.") At first, I was cordial while indicating my dissatisfaction with this so-called system. Many of the persons in our homes were not wearing masks, another issue that Chris denies. But he wouldn't know because he wasn't there. I also expressed concern about how things were being packed. Most specifically clothes. I told him firmly that I wanted wardrobe boxes for suits and dresses. He patently refused, again after a condescending lecture on how "clothes don't need wardrobe boxes." In the end they wrapped our clothes on hangers on packing tape and plastic. This led to something I had never seen before: breakage of hangers. They did not unpack the mess they made because they couldn't: about one in four of the hangers were broken. So I had to go and buy about $60 worth of hangers to replace the ones they broke. Let that sink in: they broke hangers. The lack of care with which they moved our home was breathtaking. Countless things broke. They put packing tape directly on several antique wooden family heirlooms. It still has not come off. When we explained to Chris that this was not appropriate, he actually told us if something was sensitive, we should pack it ourselves. Professional firms have the opposite advice for clients. But Chris is not professional. When items broke during their packing, they didn't tell us and they even hid it. I found the broke stuff in the garbage. In the end, they packed most stuff and moved about 90% of the contracted items. They unpacked about 10%. We paid for a full pack, move and unpack which totaled $5750. When I explained to Chris that I am preparing an invoice FOR him for services un-rendered and told him that I will take him to small-claims court, he sent me another lie-festooned menacing email in which he said that he "will also have all of my employees testify to your vulgar sexual harassment for the entire job that made them very uncomfortable." In other words, he will bully his employees into perjuring themselves to sustain the fiction that he is a professional who does what he is paid to do. Notably, I made the breakfast for the two men on day one because there are no affordable breakfast places. I also made sure they had coffee every day until the coffee maker was packed up and I routinely checked on them if they needed water etc. Chris Wilson, who owns Divine Movers, is a breathtaking scoundrel.

Damage across our antique cupboard. The dark lines across the doors won't come off. He taped directly on to the furniture.

I have texts and emails that I requested them to come by 11:00 am because I was driving from Fredericksburg. They said ok, we will wait. Then while I was on my way, I called them several times and texted them updating my arrival which was 10:15am. They said, no problem. They started at 10:30 and charged me extra for 11/2 hours which I don't understand. Every item was packed in boxes and in ikea moving bags which they called plastic bags. The reason I packed in ikea bags so they are easy to carry and protected my items. I worked as hard as they did to make sure they don't complaint but the whole time they complained and advised me to trash my belongings. They gossiped with my sister complaining. I am a US citizen but foreigner who speaks in an accent. Their first question was; where are you from? They mistreated me, abused my belongings. Instead of two hours work which my other mover who loaded the truck completed in two hours, they did it in 5 hours because the whole time they were taking tea break and snack break and of course talking breaks. It was a 3 hours job but I got charged for extra hours and for their trip to my location which is beyond acceptable. They charge you over $175 just because they had to drive to your location. This business is a heartless scam. They are racists and prejudiced as well. I have documents saved up that they are scambugs and are liars. The movers handled my belongings very carelessly, and some of my very expensive items were broken and damaged due to the way furniture and boxes were stacked on top of them. Items were placed and piled without proper care, which caused significant damage. I also believe I was overcharged for the service provided and feel I was not charged fairly for what was done. Because of the situation, I had to hire another moving company to help undo the damage and assist in bringing my furniture down safely, which resulted in additional costs. Altogether, I suffered thousands of dollars in damages and losses. After I left my review, I received multiple calls from the company threatening legal action if I did not remove my review, which I felt was an attempt to pressure or intimidate me. I have photographic evidence and eyewitness accounts showing the condition of my belongings before and after the move. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Mighty Movers of Lynchburg.

After finding my move would be more difficult than expected, (Alec) asked if I would be flexible to reschedule for the following Monday between 8 & 9 am to have a "fresh" team. I agreed. However, he apparently failed to reschedule me at the time HE suggested. He never contacted me to inform me they would not be coming between 8-9 am nor did he inform his team that would be moving me at that time. He instead scheduled them to be at my home that Monday between 11 am and 4 pm, which was not the agreed upon time not to mention was a ridiculous gap of time. I tried to contact him after no one had shown by 9 but, of course (according to Travis) Alec went out of state for the weekend with his family and could not be reached even though he gave me a number to contact him at any time. Travis said he would look into it and try to talk to Alec and get back to me ASAP. I never heard from either of them and still have not. The team ended up getting to my home that Monday by 2:30 pm after having moved another customer which is exactly what Alec said he was preventing by doing the reschedule for the morning. Having said all that, the team that arrived that day did an outstanding job. They were friendly, courteous, worked steadily, hard and very carefully. They were extra careful with the items I mentioned were of great importance to us. I give them 5 stars and would have them move us again without hesitation. The workers were outstanding. The office management could/should definitely learn a thing or two from them. I do recommend them based on the workers but I suggest you speak to someone other than Alec or Travis when scheduling or setting up your move.

I told them about having 3 autistic granddaughters in the home and that the upstairs smelled like a old folks home because of "potty" issues. They asked, like no other movers I've ever used before, the number of items they had to move.... EVEN THE NUMBER OF BOXES! My assumption is that once they reached that # they were either done or would charge us over and above the $243 an hour they quoted. So Saturday morning comes, 3 guys and their moving truck arrive. They want to waste time going through the house as I point out that EVERYTHING IS GOING. They retreat to their truck. After 15 minutes I go out to find out what the hold up is. The driver tells me his boss is trying to call me. I answer his call and he tells me that his guys refuse to do the job because of the smell and we're not even ready for them. There were 4 bedrooms and 2 living room of furniture to load from a 2 story house. The refrigerator and washer & dryer that they sited as not ready to move, took me less than 20 minutes to disconnect!!!! THEY LEFT US HIGH AND DRY!!!!! I'M 65 AND BECAUSE MY 2 SON IN LAWS AND I TO DO THE MOVE OURSELVES, I'M LOOKING AT SURGERY ON MY ALREADY DAMAGED ELBOW THANKS TO ALL MY SONS!!!! The "boss" that called to cancel on us said that they usually don't refund deposits on a cancelation but he would because of the circumstances. WE DIDN'T CANCEL......THEY DID!!!!
