He likes uncle tetsu cheesecakes which aren't too sweet. The almond cookies had too much vanilla in them. There was an aftertaste that wasn't the best The hazelnut had the same issue. The butter tarts were good. Sweet not overly runny. You could bite them and they didn't drip out but not a firm Filling either. My friend bought the chocolate pecan? Butter tart and it was quite good. The I thought the chocolate added to it. Was worried it would make it too sweet. The Apple strudel was pretty good. I always like pastry no filo please!!!! Anyways kinda reminded me of what you'd buy in a store. I think the filling is the kind that comes from a bucket. So I don't think I'd get again unless I was in a strudel mood. They serve Fortnum and Mason's teas along with baked goods. We didn't try their afternoon tea service but want to come back for that. The cafe was pretty crowded even though we came on a weekday evening so it might be better to try it during daytime hours when folks are at work. The prices are reasonable for an afternoon tea cafe as you are paying for the ambience as well as the food.

My daughter's birthday theme is, of course, Frozen - PERFECT! Together with a little gift card from Menchies, our birthday guests are getting these adorable Olaf cookies! Valerie and her aunt are the owners. I live in Markham but got to pick up my order in Thornhill, even though Valerie is based in Bolton. Valerie was prompt in answering my many many emails - I was humming and hawing over cookies or cupcakes, but decided on cookies because they travel and keep better. I am very excited to have found Valerie - she is one of these local gems that you won't be able to find on a Google search. Her style is tasteful and everything is delicious! Thanks Valerie - our family has already "sampled" a few cookies and the party is tomorrow. I'm going to have to hide the rest so that we have enough for our guests!

I am started to feel sad, thinking I should have picked up something in city. In next 5 mins I see a beautiful rustic wooden farmhouse on the right. I just turned and went there to check what it is. It was this beautiful looking Heatherlea Farm Shoppe. I checked their website and they also have a cafe inside. It was like God didn't wanted me to sad for long and presented this Farm Shoppe. I went in there with mask on. They have proper safety protocols in place. It's a wonderful farm shop that has amazing looking meats, vegetables, fruits, sauces and many more stuff. Very clean and well presented. On the left side they have a cafe and they serve coffee, tea, soup, sandwiches, baked goods and more. I wanted to have soup, but they were sold out. So I got myself a cup of coffee, oatmeal raisin cookie, chocolate chip cookie and brownie. Everything was delicious and perfect. I really loved the coffee and brownie. Brownie was so damn delicious and decadent. They have big parking outside overlooking beautiful lush fields. This place is a gem. Now I know where to stop when I am out for long drive, or I might even just take a drive to specially go here to enjoy everything they offer. I will definitely recommend this beautiful place!!

So, on this dark, rainy and misty night we walked the one kilometre to Ray's. We found a lively room, with almost all tables full. The ceasar salad was excellent and the lamb and BBQ burger were both one of the better we've eaten. Other dishes around us look equally appetizing. We had a bottle of Cave Spring pinot noir which was very reasonably priced. We finished by sharing the Skor cheesecake. Sweet but unctuous. Service was good, but the two waitresses had a whole room to contend with so it was brief and efficient. All told, worth a visit if you're in the area and certainly better than the alternatives.
