Found this butterfly visiting the farm.
    Donna N.

I've been here for the past three years and I keep coming back. I like to go in the early morning where it is less crowded. The market front welcome all visitors. They have pretty good pies and tarts here. On the weekends, the admission to the rest of the farm is $2.50 which also includes a tractor/wagon ride that goes around the farm. You can walk through the farm as well. They have a small area to see farm animals. The public washroom is beside it. I don't know how other visitors feel, but I don't like smelling farm animals in the washroom. Hence my one less star. They have various apple trees to pick from starting in September. By the end of the October this year there weren't any apples left to pick. I also enjoy the corn maze here because the crop grows quite high. You don't hear people on the other path like other mazes I've been to. It is a lot of fun for the kids and the path is wide enough that you can fit a stroller/wagon in. They also have hazelnuts you can pick. If you are like me who haven't a clue how to pick hazelnuts they always have a staff nearby to assist you. I come here every year for the pumpkins. They have a pretty large patch with various sizes of orange and white pumpkins to choose from.

I really enjoyed our time here. Yes there is an entrance fee of $2.50 per person to get into the orchard, but the price per lb is only $1.40 (approximately). They have a good variety of apples and some activities for the kids. I did wish the washrooms weren't right next to the manure (or so it seemed). But otherwise they have food and drink options at great prices including a variety of delicious pies. Possibly the best apple pie I have bought! Not too sweet, tons of apple chucks and buttery rich pastry. I would come again.

As expected there was no seating available due to Covid-19. The food quality from the hot table was moderate (hence the 3*'s). Had a salami calzone for lunch. We also bought a blueberry/strawberry scone/biscuit. I deducted a star cause the biscuit was virtually tasteless. Almost zero taste! Found that strange considering the cost was $3.50! I'd do over but just the gelato this time.

We got almond cookies, hazelnut cookies with chocolate, pecan butter tart, strawberry cheesecake, apple strudel. My son thought the strudel was sweet. He likes uncle tetsu cheesecakes which aren't too sweet. The almond cookies had too much vanilla in them. There was an aftertaste that wasn't the best The hazelnut had the same issue. The butter tarts were good. Sweet not overly runny. You could bite them and they didn't drip out but not a firm Filling either. My friend bought the chocolate pecan? Butter tart and it was quite good. The I thought the chocolate added to it. Was worried it would make it too sweet. The Apple strudel was pretty good. I always like pastry no filo please!!!! Anyways kinda reminded me of what you'd buy in a store. I think the filling is the kind that comes from a bucket. So I don't think I'd get again unless I was in a strudel mood. I do have a weakness for strudel. Saturday mornings at st Lawrence market has a better one if she is still there. I definitely need to go back to Try the food!!'

So - I was excited when she went to a friend's birthday party and actually ATE the WHOLE cupcake! It was a Monsters Inc theme and she ate the "Boo" cupcake. Not only was the cupcake adorable and delicious, but inside there was a surprise gummy bear! Needless to say, my daughter's birthday is here and I got the contact info from the friend's mom. We already had the cake booked (part of the package at an indoor playground) but I had gone to the OMG website and saw DISNEY FROZEN OLAF COOKIES! My daughter's birthday theme is, of course, Frozen - PERFECT! Together with a little gift card from Menchies, our birthday guests are getting these adorable Olaf cookies! Valerie and her aunt are the owners. I live in Markham but got to pick up my order in Thornhill, even though Valerie is based in Bolton. Valerie was prompt in answering my many many emails - I was humming and hawing over cookies or cupcakes, but decided on cookies because they travel and keep better. I am very excited to have found Valerie - she is one of these local gems that you won't be able to find on a Google search. Her style is tasteful and everything is delicious! Thanks Valerie - our family has already "sampled" a few cookies and the party is tomorrow. I'm going to have to hide the rest so that we have enough for our guests!

I am driving through the country side and there it is also foggy. That's the perfect environment for long drive. Now I started to crave for soup or coffee. I am started to feel sad, thinking I should have picked up something in city. In next 5 mins I see a beautiful rustic wooden farmhouse on the right. I just turned and went there to check what it is. It was this beautiful looking Heatherlea Farm Shoppe. I checked their website and they also have a cafe inside. It was like God didn't wanted me to sad for long and presented this Farm Shoppe. I went in there with mask on. They have proper safety protocols in place. It's a wonderful farm shop that has amazing looking meats, vegetables, fruits, sauces and many more stuff. Very clean and well presented. On the left side they have a cafe and they serve coffee, tea, soup, sandwiches, baked goods and more. I wanted to have soup, but they were sold out. So I got myself a cup of coffee, oatmeal raisin cookie, chocolate chip cookie and brownie. Everything was delicious and perfect. I really loved the coffee and brownie. Brownie was so damn delicious and decadent. They have big parking outside overlooking beautiful lush fields. This place is a gem. Now I know where to stop when I am out for long drive, or I might even just take a drive to specially go here to enjoy everything they offer. I will definitely recommend this beautiful place!!
