Went here for a perfume making class with a few girlfriends this last weekend and it was so much fun! My hubby brought me here as a surprise Christmas gift and I absolutely LOVED it! Sherry greeted us when we walked in and we sat in one of the many stations, surrounded by dozens of natural scents. She walked us through the history of perfumery and the categories of scents. We were free to sniff at any and all of the scents as we desired. We were then off to create two perfumes that we wanted. The only limitation was our own imagination! I set my mind on a summer one (Spring day with fresh flowers and clean linen) and winter one (eating my favorite cookies near the Christmas tree). It was such a blast attempting to create these scents and smelling how the different scents would work with each other. Despite the tall order, I was able to concoct the exact perfumes in my mind's eye with Sherry's help. My hubby created a beachy evening one and a mulled wine one that smell amazing, too. This was such a unique, memorable experience and I especially loved the shared experience with my partner. I love perfume and have a few scents on rotation so it was really neat to learn more about the craft and create my own. I can't recommend this studio enough! read more

Had a girl's afternoon making our own perfumes and scents. We kicked off the activity putting on aprons and getting to smell 50+ scents! Our host went through each grouping explaining the unique ways the scents were made and offering us a chance to sniff each type allowing us to write down scents that were pleasing to our noses! We love this studio! We've only gone once, but we greatly enjoyed our experience! We came in with goals in mind for what our perfume would be like or what we wanted our scent to convey. We chose the Guided Perfume Creation (Full Organ) 2-hour course because we're very new to perfume-making, and we really had no idea how or where to start. They were extremely helpful and patient with the group. They also offered up a lot of suggestions that would help elevate our scents or remove specific ones that don't quite complement the overall fragrance. The studio is cozy with clean and organized tables and seats. The decor, the vibe, and the layout are so complementary and homely. They had so many different scents that it could feel overwhelming at first, but once you get going on picking out the scents that speak to you, it's fairly quick to put a fragrance together! It is quite a process especially if you connect with a lot of the different scents they offer! Sometimes, to elevate your particular perfume, they'll pull off specific ones from the back shelves they think will help with your fragrance. I really enjoyed the whole experience, and I think we will either purchase our perfumes again when we run out or come back and try to mix new fragrances! I'm really happy with mine and would most likely use their service of getting bottles of your fragrance mix. Highly recommend! read more

My family and I really enjoyed this experience. This visit was a Xmas gift for my younger sister... she loved creating her own scents. This was such a fun unique experience. I came across DIY scent studio when searching for a massage oil making class. They offer a few different classes...perfume, body/hair oil, and beard oil making. We went with the body/hair oil class. It's $99 for a two hour class and a bottle of your creation! The studio is small and quaint. There was a total of 6 of us in the class. I like the small size classes, as you can get a good amount of attention from the two facilitators. The two instructors were great!! They taught us quite a bit on the process of making body oils. I loved my creation!! Definitely a fun date idea or a day out with the girls! Well worth the $99. read more

I just started getting into perfuming and was on a mission to smell everything I possibly could smell. I found nose Nirvana at DIY Scent Studio! I took the extended class and learned a ton! Sherry was super awesome and sweet and even bought me a coffee before class started. She has an extensive collection of stuff to sniff, including rare stuff, which was perfect for my quest. She answered all my questions (and I had many) and I had an olfactory blast. Even if you're not looking to smell everything everywhere and just want to walk out with your own perfume blend, you will find something special here! Great for solo individuals and groups. I went to an intro class at DIY Scent Studio in a group of teens & adults to celebrate a birthday. We all had a great time learning from Sherry & Amy about different groups (spicy, floral, etc), how to construct a scent, and each of us got to make two samplers. We settled on DIY Scent Studio as a fun end of summer activity for a group of moms and teen daughters. We opted for the 80 blending fragrance guided version for our first time but we would probably opt for the 120 fragrances next time. Our expert guide described the task of perfume blending as akin to painting - you need an idea of what you want the ultimate "picture" to be but there are many ways to get there. We spent a very happy two hours of trial and error which resulted in some delightful and unique take home fragrances with assistance from our pro guide. You get two fragrances to take home in pretty spray bottles with custom labels. Highly recommend this experience for anyone creatively inclined teens up. I would not recommend it for younger children as certain fragrance materials can be toxic or cause allergic reactions. If you have severe allergies check with the shop before booking. A wonderful creative experience - highly recommend. read more

Absolutely loved my experience personalizing my own fragrances. Sherry was absolutely amazing! She explained in detail everything we needed to know about fragrances. Everything from top, middle and bottom notes to the background of interesting scents. Our experience was surprisingly relaxing. The music played was serene and we had the entire studio to ourselves which allowed Sherry to take her time with assisting us. Social distancing was in practice and I appreciated the safety measures implemented to ensure our safety. I struggled a bit with creating a scent I had in mind but Sherry came to the rescue and I absolutely love my two unique scents! I dropped in for a class to learn about how perfumes are created. Sherry was in the middle of walking two other ladies through each natural scent, describing each and explaining their origins. Some were familiar and others were more exotic and surprising (castoreum, anyone?). I played with the scents and Sherry gave me suggestions based on the feelings I wished to evoke. I ended up purchasing the blend I created - fresh and woody with a hint of rose. I enjoyed this experience and am thinking of returning to make a scented body oil next! read more

What an amazing experience! Sherry guided me and my two friends in a 2-hour workshop, explaining the different scent categories and then giving us the basics to start building our own personal perfumes. She helped us at each stage while letting us explore freely. She has an amazing array of scents to chose and they all smell fresh and high-quality. After we figured out our selections and then the ratios of each of the selections, we chose bottles and she finished by adding in the carrier. Sherry is an excellent guide through all this. Each of us ended up with two bottles of unique, professional-smelling products that were all completely different. Tips: Go with friends. It's fun to bounce ideas off each other. Oh - guys wear scents, too! Also, Sherry is going to recommend you focus on a very clear story or image you want to describe in your perfume, like a trip to a tropical paradise or your grandparent's library. I got pop-quiz paralysis when Sherry said this and it took me awhile to get an idea. My friends recommend pulling aside pleasant scents during the exploring phase to help focus on favorites. It's hard to remember after going through the thorough introduction and there are many more scents available than the immediate bottles at each station. Lastly, have fun making and wearing your totally unique perfume! read more

My wife loves perfume, so I surprised her on Saturday by making reservations for both of us to create scents for ourselves. She loved it! We each made a winter scent and a summer scent. Sherry and Logan were extremely helpful, explaining the different scent groups and how base, middle, and top tones work together. There were two other couples mixing their scents, but Sherry and Logan easily helped all of the couples figure out their scents. In the end, each of us we were able to perfect two very different scents for ourselves. It was a great Valentine's date and would be a fun date year-round. We had a great time learning to create our own perfume here. Sherry, the instructor, taught us how to create an accord layered from various base, middle, and top notes. Each student is seated at a perfume "organ," which is a workstation surrounded by bottles of essential oils and scent strips (slices of paper) to dip into the oils and combine together to create unique scents. When the student is finished creating, the instructor shows them how to scale up their scent and makes a bottle of their one-of-a-kind perfume they can take home. read more
