Dave ripped us off and was on his phone and grouchy every second he was with us. We had to change to a nearby venue due to rain, which pushed the wedding back half an hour. He was extremely rude about the amount of space he had at the new location with no interest in trying to make it work from the get go. Made the bride cry and left after four songs, (which were at a volume that was too low for anyone to hear.) He also forgot his microphone. He was paid $2200 for this. As a wedding planner I was appalled. I would not usually bash a small business but I would hate for anyone else to be victimized by his unwillingness to accommodate on their most special day when the music is such an important element. read more

I cannot believe how this guy conducted himself. For those who want to know what happened, the bride and groom had to change locations (within 10 minutes of original location) due to severe storms. After making the bride cry over the phone because it was just too much for him to take down and set up again, he agreed to come and play 4-5 songs. He kept his full $2200 and left in the beginning of the reception, 3 hours before he planned for. The bride pleaded again, but he was cold and left. No decency, should be ashamed of himself! I honestly hope this is the last wedding he ever participates in- the guy sucked to begin with! No microphone to even announce or help with the ceremony, as was originally planned. This guy should sell the rest of his equipment to someone who cares. Go find a different hobby, because he was not professional or held up his end of the bargain. As an event planner of 8+ years and September 2023 bride whose outdoor Pittsburgh wedding was ruined by unexpected bad weather, I know firsthand how absolutely DEVASTATING that is. I was so excited to attend my friend's outdoor wedding at her friend's property on 8/31/24 and hoped more than anything that she had better wedding weather than I did. However, there were severe storms an hour before the ceremony was scheduled to start at 4:00 p.m., and the tents at the original location were completely destroyed by the high winds and were unusable, so there was no way to have the wedding there. The couple scrambled to find an alternative location on such short notice, and thankfully, the local American Legion was able to offer them their basement, which was just a 10-minute drive away. Everyone did their best to work with the unfortunate uncontrollable circumstances--except for DJ Dave. The caterers and photographers migrated to the new location and proceeded with their tasks without a fuss, and friends and family graciously stepped up to help in any way including setting up and decorating the new venue. My friend, the bride, is quite literally the most selfless, positive, understanding person I know, and I know she was just grateful for anything that anyone could do to salvage her big day, so it was appalling at how DJ Dave responded after everything was already not going as she envisioned. DJ Dave came to the new venue and set up minimal equipment including a single speaker. He did not bring a microphone, which is like the bare minimum expected of a wedding DJ. Therefore, he did not announce anything, and we could not hear the couple's vows or anything that was being said, so sadly the audio was not captured in any videos of their ceremony either. He played a handful of songs (walking down the aisle, first dance, father-daughter dance, and mother-son dance) and then REFUSED TO STAY UNTIL HIS CONTRACTED TIME OF 9:30 P.M. THAT HE WAS ALREADY PAID IN FULL (OVER $2,000) FOR because "it wasn't in his contract to travel to a different venue", which at that point didn't make any sense because he had already come to the new venue and was playing music but decided to leave after an hour and a half of "service" (looking back at the timestamps of the photos I took, the ceremony ended up starting around 5 p.m. and he was gone around 6:30 p.m.). It looked worse that he even came and then left so suddenly in front of over 100 witnesses--we were all SHOCKED. We had cocktail hour and dinner without any music. After dinner, a kind stranger from the bar upstairs heard about the crazy DJ-less situation and offered to come down and help. We were able to find our own speaker to play some music for the rest of the night, but it was of course not the same as having a DJ, so not as many people danced, and many guests ended up leaving early, which was saddening. I asked my friend the name of the DJ company and was flabbergasted to find out not only that she had had a very positive experience with DJ Dave up until the necessary wedding day pivot but also that he had been awarded the Knot's 'Best of Weddings' multiple years including 2024 after what he did to my friend last night. As someone who organizes a high volume of events for my job, I am well versed that things inevitably go wrong during even the best of events, but never have I witnessed a vendor who straight up did not try to make it through the event, especially a WEDDING. Usually, people in the wedding industry are committed to providing the best service possible on such an important day, but not DJ Dave. Even at my own rained-out wedding, I experienced some issues with the quality of some of my other vendors' services due to the bad weather, and they all took ownership and compensated/made it right accordingly, which redeemed their reputation. My DJ was incredibly solid and even insisted on staying a few minutes late (since we had gotten rain delayed) so we could do our last dance even though we said he totally didn't have to, and he cost us half the price that DJ Dave was paid, so I am just reeling how a "professional" at the TWO THOUSAND DOLLAR+ price point just walked out 3 hours early from a contracted job and provided such an opposite experience in response to a similar situation. Of course things will go wrong in life, but how you handle them shows your true colors, and we were extremely disappointed with DJ Dave's approach. While we are so glad that the bride and groom are happily married, DJ Dave's performance (or lack of) impacted a significant portion of the day, and many of us who were in attendance have been leaving honest reviews accordingly on the Knot, Google, and Facebook, which have been getting deleted, so I'm sure my review will get deleted as well, but I will continue to spread the word of this lackluster experience with DJ Dave to all wedding Facebook groups and my extensive connections in the event industry. 0 stars... After being paid up front, this unprofessional excuse of a man decided not to provide service. This all occurred because of a last minute venue change due to an outdoor wedding being completely destroyed by wind and rain. I attended a friend's wedding the past weekend and was messaged an hour before start time that the outdoor venue was completely destroyed because of Mother Nature.... Fortunately there was an American Legion that was available 10 minutes down the road from the originally planned venue. The DJ was asked if he could relocate to the American Legion down the road to help make the brides day a little less hectic and he was reluctant to do so, stating that a change of venue was a breach of contract. After some convincing he agreed to set up at the Legion but only to play 4 songs even though he was monetarily compensated to DJ for 4 hours. I understand the agreement that took place, however there is also a little thing called human decency. Everyone that participated at the event did their part to try and make the unfortunate circumstances as good as they could be for the beautiful bride. Groomsman hurried to set up the legion, soiling their amazing attire, guests did what they could in an understanding that this day needed to be as special as possible. All did their part besides this selfish man who didn't even have a microphone to announce the bridal party. He just did the bare minimum, took his $2200.00 and ran away. If you are a bride to be and you want someone who is willing to make your day as special as possible no matter what occurs than I strongly advise you to not choose a person who showed zero compassion towards a bride on her wedding day... leaving her in tears as he packed away his stuff and left. read more
