As a DJ, I had a strong sense of what music I wanted including what a good DJ is versus a bad one. Anyway, it was a few years ago... a perfect day in Malibu... and Christian arrived on time and ready. He has a system for working with his clients, which definitely influenced me in realizing how organized I need to be when preparing for a serious gig like a wedding. Christian has the experience and that allowed me to worry about one less thing on my wedding day. Like most cases, I think success heavily depends on communication and Christian always responded to all of my emails in a timely manner. One of our biggest concerns was for the reception to be fun, not drag on slowly like many do, and for everyone to enjoy themselves and dance!! He definitely met that expectation with great song selections, solid mixing (not abrupt stop/play or non-beat matched transitions.. one of my DJ pet peeves), and professional MCing (not cheesy) that helped lead the party along the planned timeline. The dance floor was filled all night! Finally, Christian will go above and beyond if need be. One example I clearly remember is when the projector screen became unstable due to the increase in wind (outdoor reception) and Christian jumped right behind it to keep it propped up (for the entire slideshow). Mike is very responsive, professional, and organized. Mike helped us plan out the timing of our events and recommended the perfect songs for moments where we hadn't yet figured out which songs to play. Mike even helped suggest non-music related things for us, like certain pictures we should have our photographer capture (we followed his recommendations and love those shots, btw.) Ovation's online portal is easy to fill out and add songs to. When it came to the actual wedding, Ovation did a great job at engaging the crowd and getting people to get on the dance floor.
