We got married on June 7, 2025, at Casi Cielo Vineyards, where this DJ was included with the venue, so we didn't have another option. The biggest disappointment was how impersonal the entire experience felt. Outside of one standard planning phone call, we never heard from him. We didn't feel like he cared about getting to know us or our vision for the wedding. Instead we felt like just another couple on his schedule, another job to get through because he was the venue's required DJ. We gave him a playlist of songs we wanted played and specifically asked that he stick to those instead of mixing in his own music. Somehow, that turned into him refusing guest song requests all night. Several guests told us they were turned away, which was frustrating because that wasn't what we had asked for. Omid (DJ Kamayo) was absolutely solid for our wedding. He gave us plenty of sound for our ceremony, cocktail hour, and an absolute killer package of sound and lighting for our reception. There's a lot of services he can provide in regards to the production (haze and fog machine, lasers, dimmable string lights and chandeliers, etc.) and you can tell he's really into what he does- sound, equipment, music, and making sure you have an awesome wedding. He makes sure that his involvement in the wedding is about you. He isn't too wordy with his announcements and speaks with confidence when he does. When we first met with him for a consultation meeting he let us know that if we want to make the entire playlist from start to finish and have him play it, then he is completely fine with that. We actually did do exactly that, but also let him know that we give him discretion to go with what works best (we're not the pros here). He did a great job of looking at our list and getting a feel for what we want and throwing in some songs that matched perfectly throughout the night. He did a great job mixing and determining the best order of the songs. In addition to absolutely bringing it and more as a DJ, he was super proactive with some of the issues we were having with power and lighting (venue/rentals issue). My wife and I would see an issue and before she could get too worried I could see Omid going towards the problem and I'd tell her "Don't worry. It looks like Omid is on it." Apparently our catering kitchen even lost power at some point and Omid helped the situation by lending them a spare 100 ft. extension cord to plug into another power source. Lastly, he provided us with his analysis of some of the breakdowns we had from the evening. Dj Kamayo was by far the best DJ we could have gotten for our wedding. We really wanted something different and not like typical wedding music. When husband and I booked our venue last October, they restricted the DJs we could book to those on the preferred list (technically we culd go outside of the list but we would have to get approval from the venue and pay a fine for going with a non-preferred DJ). We were a little bummed at the prospect of having to pick a DJ without knowing if they were really good or not but Omid eased our worries. From our very first meeting all the way to the wedding day, Omid has been nothing but professional, patient, and just overall amazing. First of all, why did we go with him? Husband and I looked at all the DJs on the list and booked interviews with 2 of them. But from the get go we were drawn to DJ Kamayo because his website said he was a no fuss DJ that didn't make the event all about him (and we've been to a few weddings where the DJ made it all about them!). When we met in person, his personality assured me that he was not the boasty, showman type and I liked that. Experience leading up the the wedding: We had a great experience with Omid. We communicated by e-mail most of the time, with me asking 10 million questions and adding items to our order that I would end up canceling (like going from 1 tv to 3 tvs to no tvs the week before the wedding!). Omid was always accommodating and understanding. He answered my emails in a timely manner (sometimes within the same day, sometimes within 3-4 days) and never balked at my changing mind. Two months before the wedding we asked Omid if he could cut our first dance music as well as do a medley for our dance with our parents. We gave him the songs and let him go at mixing it and they came out perfect the first time around (that was about a week turnaround). A few weeks before the wedding we filled out the sheet he provided on his website. We like types of music but nothing specific so I gave him a list of examples, kind of like Pandora. And he hit it out of the park (see below). The wedding day: Things that I think are super important and that you should too: 1) He was a few hours before the ceremony to set up. 2) Speakers. SPEAKERS! Ever been to a wedding where you couldn't hear the officiant or the people getting married say their vows? Volume was P.E.R.F.E.C.T. He even mic-ed up the cellist and pianist. We got so many compliments on our ceremony, in large part because you could hear what was being said. 3) MC - he said everyone's names perfectly, he worked well with the venue, and he didn't make the reception about him but about US. 4) Music - everyone was up and dancing. We got a lot of compliments on the music, especially from people who are music-heads. We have friends getting married next year and asked us for his card. 5) We also had Omid do our photobooth and that came out well as well and a bargain price! Overall, we can't say enough about DJ Kamayo. I'm so glad we booked him and would again without hesitation. read more

DJ Kamayo was our DJ for our wedding this past March. We found him through our package at the Vineyards. We visited the Vineyards on a few Thursday lounge nights and we were able to hear DJ Kamayo spin. Every time we loved his music and his mixes. He knows how to keep a dance floor moving and has a good variety of edm/old school/top 40/hip hop/etc. When I look back on my wedding planning, there's a few things I procrastinated on... writing my vows and finalizing our music selection were at the top of that list. However, we had good faith that Kamayo would pull through for us and he did! We basically put together an idea of the styles/genres we had in mind for the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. DJ Kamayo transformed our list into a whole night of smooth transitions and a party that I wished could've never ended. DJ Kamayo also provided the uplighting for the reception. Other venues might have you choose one uplighting color scheme. DJ Kamayo is able to adjust the colors and intensity throughout the night, which makes the ambiance more dynamic. I didn't realize at the time but it is a pretty big advantage that he is so familiar with the venue. Absolutely terrible. Where to even start? -We spoke initially on Wednesday regarding setting up the lighting for a mid size corporate event. Omid ("Dj Kamayo") was vaguely unenthusiastic from the beginning, but begrudgingly agreed to come and do a site visit two days later, on Friday. Well, Friday rolls around and after several texts asking him to confirm he was coming he let us know two hours prior that he couldn't make it, and could we do Monday.......Not great, but not the end of the world. We agreed and scheduled for Monday and despite several ignored texts (He had his read receipts on, which is mind boggling considering) Omid does arrive on time. He spends literally ten minutes, no plan, no detailed walkthrough or explanation, no ideas, just here's the number of pin lights you're going to need, and here's what its going to cost. -Again, Not great, but not the end of the world. I ask him to send us a quote that evening (it's about 3pm at the time) so that we can issue a check for him the following day. He agrees and wouldn't you know it, doesn't send an invoice. A few texts that evening asking him to respond, nothing. Not even "I'm busy" "I can't" Nothing. The following morning a few more texts hoping he will respond, and finally he responds with: "I dont do w9's unless I do at least 5k in business" ....Um.....What? -No explanation for completely ignoring our messages, nor for not sending a quote. Nothing. Simply: "I dont do w9's unless I do at least 5k in business" -Nothing more. Nothing less. -At this point we've now reached insanity. I ask him to explain because as a business (which I assume is something he has worked with/for) that not obtaining a W9 puts everyone (including him) in a grey area with the good ol' folks at the IRS. His response was just the absolute worst thing I could imagine; "I don't do W9's unless I do at least 5k in business, thats my policy, you didn't mention that when we spoke" -Lets be realistic; No one had brought up a W9 yet, until he did, because he knew it would be needed. When asked how he could leave us without a lighting guy 3 days before our event, or confronted with the unprofessionalism he simply stopped responding. This was a disaster from start to finish and I can warn anyone considering doing business here to think twice. There are plenty of DJ/Lighting/Sound Services - Dont risk your event, just go elsewhere. read more

I didn't see much interaction with my guests as I hoped. Some of my guests stated they requested a song and didn't get their request or he had a sarcastic answer. I cannot say enough good things about how awesome Omid and Nick were for our wedding. Our weekend started out with what we felt was a wedding disaster... we had been planning for the past year to be married in Malibu on November 11, and our venue had to cancel because Malibu was on fire. This left us with a choice... plan and execute a whole new wedding in 2 days, or cancel and ask all our family and friends who had travelled to be with us to come back again in a few months. We made the decision to move the wedding to my in-laws back yard and began putting the pieces together. Omid assured me they were flexible and on-board however our plans shifted. They showed up a couple hours before our ceremony started, to our delight we got Nick AND Omid due to other cancellations. They helped set up some lighting for us, since our space wasn't exactly set up to host 80 people we needed a little extra help and they were there going above and beyond to help us along the way. They have an easy to fill out form that covers music for every part of the wedding and reception experience. We filled it out, but they mixed and chose the order that felt so natural and perfect. Our patio, erm... dance floor was never empty. They even informed me that we gave them their first mosh-pit at a wedding... I'm gonna put that on my resume. Their MC-ing style wasn't cheesy or in-your-face either. It was perfectly timed, understated, and exactly what we were hoping for. The Photobooth was a hit too! We had our wedding recently this November and Omid was great! I had some semi odd requests for cocktail hour and our ceremony and he nailed it. We had a power outage at the venue but he somehow solved that problem with some ingenuity and I didn't even know that we wouldn't have had sound if it weren't for him until after the ceremony began. During the dancing he kept everyone on the dance floor and people even complimented me on my DJ selection. He kept the crowd moving and upbeat, providing the perfect mix of dance groves over beloved classics. He did a great job of reading the crowd as it evolved throughout the night (This was a long event -- 6:00 - 11:00) Omid is awesome to work with -- a true professional, but also laid back and super friendly. DJ Kamayo seemed like a great pick when he was originally referred and I looked up his reviews and all the sorts. I might have done myself an injustice by filling out the music list he shared with me, because I had the expectation he would understand the vibe. Day of the wedding, I felt like he played albums of artists versus a mix. I asked him to play Hispanic tunes toward the latter end of the evening and I noticed he spent a lot of the night playing the Hispanic tunes and some of the other genres took a back seat. Which was kinda opposite of my request. Overall, our dance floor was filled (that could have been the alcohol) but, I am not confident it was because of his skills with the music. DJ KAMAYO is as amazing as it gets. I was referred to him for my wedding at the Vineyards. From the first moment my husband and I spoke with him we knew his friendliness, knowledge, and vibe would be perfect for our wedding. Since he gets booked fast, I contacted him immediately months before my wedding and was immediately happy and relieved that he responded so quickly. He told me to feel comfortable in giving him any song list I wanted and the fact that if I had a few songs I wanted the specific timing of or if I needed a few songs to be combined together that he would be able to edit songs as well. A DJ, music editor, lighting technician and an organized coordinator all rolled into one his services were absolute perfection. He set up the blue lights I had wanted for my winter wonderland themed wedding. He was able to get guests together to take part in my favorite soul train line dance (and trust me this was not easy with the smorgasbord of age ranges we had at our wedding). Guests I never expected to dance or know that they don't dance were on the dancefloor and even doing some crazy moves. I received so many compliments on the type of ambiance he provided. He definitely "wears a lot of hats" throughout the entire night as he was always keeping me in the loop with the schedules, what was going on for the day, even making sure I was calm and carefree. He definitely just doesn't dj but is proactive in making sure everyone is having fun and safe. For example, I noticed a couple of water drops on the dancefloor and some soda spills. Prior to just going to call a member of the staff over, DJ KAMAYO took it upon himself to grab a towel and immediately started wiping the floor. Of course the staff member arrived right away but you would be surprised how many weddings or events I have attended where there was a lack of care in any staff member. An all-around nice and caring guy, he is on it. He knows his music, knows his stuff, and gives you a wonderful mix and of the engaged couples song list as well his. You never have to say something twice with him as he is "on it." I can't wait to see my wedding video so I can dance again. He hosts and keeps the dance floor packed and even makes sure the bride and groom get to sit down for a few minutes and eat. Trust me very important!!! Make sure to book him asap! Used DJ Kamayo for a wedding reception, we were planning a wedding going in pretty blind, and really not sure what to think or exactly how to go about such an undertaking. Found DJ Kamayo on a fast search and didn't realize how lucky we were. Completely professional, knowledgeable, didn't even give a second thought to song changes right up to the event itself. He was on the ball, reliable, and did exactly what he said he would do when he said he would do it, what else could you want? If you are planning any event of really any size you will realize how much the DJ sets the mood and controls the environment, this is one I'd recommend to anybody and glad we had him on our side. At best, we were pretty scattered trying to get everything together, but he listened to anything we'd suggest and came prepared with plenty of very good ideas himself, took the entire event to a level we could never have reached without him.
