Karpos sure knows how to get people to go crazy and patiently wait for the first day of the sale of tickets. Watching Phoenix was really the best concert of my life. I even got to touch the lead singer, Thomas Mars!!!! He went crowd surfing in our area! Just like January, I got to watch another favorite band which is Bastille. Man, that was another really good concert! Both concert were held in World Trade Center so it was pretty spacious! I really owe a lot to Karpos Multimedia for bringing in such cool bands to Manila!

A helpful staff is on-call to assist in moving around the heavy gear and to answer any sort of question when it comes to lighting techniques. As I mentioned earlier, the space has two studios - one studio is smaller, perfect for portraiture and editorial shoots. Edge Manila has done work with some big names in the local film industry, and you'll see lots of their finished work on MTV, local networks and film festivals, and the big screen itself. The head honcho, John Wong, is a director and editor himself, so he knows how to balance both sides of the coin. When I worked with Edge on a film project, they took great care of us. Even though we were cutting it very close to the deadline (our fault, not theirs), they pushed and helped us make it to the finish line without complaint. Their rates were also very friendly, and for the quality of work that they do, there's hardly need to go anywhere else.

Anyway, if you're looking for a photo studio, I would suggest you check out Bottega in Katipunan as they have almost everything you will need. They have a spacious makeup area, and a dressing room as well. For a photo studio, they are pretty equipped with camera tipods, reflectors, special lighting equipment and whatnot. You can also interchange the huge paper walls to change up your background. Bottega is quite a spacious photo studio that it even has a couch area for people to sit on in between takes. The staff are also very accommodating and quite helpful. Plus, the owners of Bottega are part of the photography and makeup industry as well so if you're short on people, you can just go ahead and ask them! Because Bottega Studio is in Katipunan, it's fairly easy to go to! Food can be delivered here and there's also a bakery/cafe right under it. WiFi is also available here.

While advertising has all the money in the world to spend (at least so I've heard), television and digital video production can't say the same for themselves. With TV, and now I am learning that with digital content as well, the cheaper, the better. I know, #producerproblems. Back when I was still working for a local cable channel, I had the challenge of producing high quality promos with a very limited budget. It was quite a mean feat but I was able to pull it off with the help of a few friends. They pointed me to Cinerent, a production rental house that's got the works - camera and lenses rental, camera grips, light equipment and audio rental. Just like every other production rental house, Cinerent has a complete list of whatever you'll need in a shoot. All their equipment has a corresponding caretaker to make sure that the shoot runs well and without any hitch, at least from their part. Their day rate is equivalent to a 16-hour shoot, starting from the time you set-up and ending when someone shouts, "that's a wrap!" Cinerent guys (the grips, the people you scheduled your reservations to, etc) are all very nice as well. In a highly stressful shoot day, all the smiling faces and energetic personalities are what will help make the process more fun! It's one of the main reasons I like Cinerent - I've never had problem with any of their people in any of the shoots I've done with them. Thank God for these guys and I've managed to pull off some of the most difficult shoots I've had.

They hold courses on Flash animation for kids, basic Adobe Photoshop, animated storytelling, workshops on audio-visual presentations, social media ethics, and web design, among others. For web design, they also offer it as a service with some of their past clients being the East Asian Pastoral Institute, UP Press, and various healthdev clinics. It's all creative training basically, and geared mostly toward religious, pastoral, and social workers. That's why they often have tie-ups with religious groups, NGOs, and academic orgs. What's great here is when you take a course, you can re-take the same classes within a year if you feel like you need a refresher and it's all for free! The Garage has its own multimedia training rooms and a big multipurpose hall, which they also sometimes use for video productions and TV shoots. Televised masses are sometimes held there. If I'm not mistaken, Cardinal Tagle's weekly morning show "The Word Exposed," is also shot there. The place is located right behind the main JesCom Sonolux Building, right by the parking lot.
